https://www.facebook.com/groups/sewacap/?ref=share On behalf of the group "Sew A Cap" We would like to thank Floris United Methodist Church for there generous donation. We will be able to make alot of caps for our essential workers. The pictures are a tiny example of some of the fabrics we purchased. I made a couple caps for you to see an example of what we sew. We donate 100% of our sewn caps to our (mostly) local Medical facilities. They have been so grateful for the love and support. Please join our group to find out more information. Friends! We have set up a group based in Reston to help those in our area that are at increased Risk or disadvantage due to COVID19. We are a grassroots (family) group that is helping pick up and deliver groceries, writing letters to folks who can't get out, and in general doing What we can from Where we can. We would love for you to visit our page, like/share, and best of all identify folks who might need assistance. We are NOT looking for money... just people to help! We are members at UCP Reston and are sharing an opportunity to spread the light of the Lord in the darkest of times! https://www.facebook.com/restonVa19 Please visit/Like/Share/Follow our page!!! #SpreadLoveNotCOVID19
Sadie was very interested in the dog barking. (Excuse the towels, she was swimming in the lake!)
The music worship today was moving!!! It really brought the spirit and excitement of the season to me!!!! Thanks to all who make it happen.
Figured I would reach out here to see if anyone looks at this page. I wanted to know if there was someone in the church community that has owned / done / does autobody work and would be willing to teach me some of the basics. Im sure we could work out a quid-pro-quo but wanted to check with my church family first. I have a project car that I want to use to learn some of the basics. Let me know!
No 5pm worship today but you can still make it to our 11:00 service! Hope to see you soon.
We are live streaming now!

Sharing

September 20 | Connected to Others – Sharing | Romans 1:11-17
One of the great gifts of the church is being connected to other people. In a time when we are physically distant, people can feel socially isolated and gloomy. We have news of hope to share and a welcome to offer. This week, we will talk about the power of connection and what God does when we share our faith and friendship with others.

Sermon Series “disCONNECTED” – This week we continue our sermon series about staying connected to God and to our community. Sunday we will talk about the power of connection and what God does when we share our faith and friendship with others. Last week we talked about the importance of being a part of a life group. To find out more about life groups at Floris UMC click here:

If you have not registered to vote, now is the time. It is also the time to request an absentee ballot if you do not plan to vote in person on November 3. We are providing links to both Loudoun and Fairfax Counties’ election websites and encourage you to click on these links if you wish to register to vote or find out more about absentee or early voting.
https://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/elections/
https://www.loudoun.gov/196/Register-to-Vote

Serve Opportunities Related to the Election – Volunteers from Floris are working with others from VOICE to send postcards to people on how to register to vote and access early voting safely. If you are interested in writing postcards, please email Connie Giovanini ([email protected]).
Also, Fairfax County has an urgent need for volunteers to help apply mailing labels to absentee ballot envelopes on Saturday, September 19. All work is done at the Fairfax County Government Center with face masks and social distancing in place. Email the Fairfax County office with questions.

September 13 | Connected to Faith – Life Groups | Hebrews 10:19-25
If there has ever been a time to figure out how to connect to your faith and others, it is now. There is a way that you can anchor yourself to God and to relationships that bring greater joy and meaning to life and push away anxiety and despair. Come hear about one of the most important decisions you can make to improve your life and restore your faith right now.

[09/12/20]   Now that you have survived the first week of virtual school, treat yourself with this special Floris UMC concert. One of FCB’s high school seniors, Dori Burdick, is sharing the stage with her very own dad to bring a variety of contemporary songs into your living room. There is something uniquely special about a father/daughter musical pair, and her voice is like velvet. You’ll want to make sure you make time for a night of music!

We are offering Holy Communion in the church parking lot on September 15 in the morning and evening.
If you desire to receive the sacrament and are comfortable with the safety guidelines we offer, please sign up below. We will have a limited number of spaces but hope to offer the sacrament on a regular basis in the coming months.

Jesus GATHERED

September 6 | Jesus GATHERED | Matthew 26: 17-30
Jesus loved to be with people. Jesus saw significant benefit in investing in relationships and gathering people together. We recognize that even in the midst of pandemic, people long to be together. How might we, in this time, gather people together like Jesus?

Who We Are

Floris United Methodist Church is a community of people committed to making a difference in the lives of those in the community and in the world. Floris strives to reach people with the love and compassion of Christ and does so by being at the center of the community. Floris focuses on teaching children, students and adults about the Christian life through Sunday messages that tackle real life challenges and struggles.

Floris is committed to building relationships and creating authentic community. Life groups encourage and equip participants to be more loving, more selfless, more joyful and more hopeful. Floris provides care and encouragement through prayer, support groups and encouragement to everyone who calls Floris their church home.

Serving opportunities impact the local Herndon/Reston community and the world while significantly impacting those who participate. Floris United Methodist Church has a heart for children in poverty and actively engages in opportunities that focus on children, including a local school partnership and a child rescue center and hospital in Bo, Sierra Leone, Africa. Floris is also committed to addressing basic needs like food and shelter.

In response to projected population growth in Reston, Virginia, Floris UMC opened a new campus, Restoration Church in January 2015. Through the opening of this campus, Floris UMC envisions reaching existing and new residents of Reston who are not connected to a church.

Floris United Methodist Church has a history of more than 120 years in the Herndon area and imagines an exciting future.
