Here is an encouraging word for you today from our church's history, 102 years ago! We were/are FBC Oak Cliff. We have just been called, The Oaks for about 20 years now after we relocated. The Oak Cliff Churches communicated through this ad in the Dallas Morning News on October 20, 1918 during the Spanish Flu Pandemic, when 50 million people died from the Spanish Flu on six continents worldwide. Churches weren't allowed to meet then either...our city, country and world rebounded then and we will again!
Join us Sundays at 10:45 a.m. for online church through FB live! We love and miss seeing everyone, and are praying for you daily!
[03/25/20] Join Pastor Barry Wednesday evenings, starting tonight at 6:30pm for a Live FB Bible Study called: Big Problems, BIGGER GOD! A Tour Through The Psalms For Guidance & Comfort!
These next couple of Sundays (3/22 & 3/29) we are bringing church to your house by our Live Streaming around 10:45 a.m. or join the recorded version at you convenience. All will be attending by computer, tablet or phone for these next two Sundays, and not here at our church campus! We will be having our Worship leaders add some of their original worship music for a fuller worship experience!
Dear Oaks Family & Friends,
We at the Oaks are taking serious precautions in light of the spread of COVID-19 (Coronavirus). Our goal is to keep everyone who attends and serves at the Oaks safe from the Coronavirus, if at all possible. That means that we are going to follow new guidelines for your safety:
*To minimize personal contact for a season, please refrain from hugging and shaking hands while in Luper Hall in the worship gatherings, classrooms and hallways and during our services, classes, and events. A friendly wave, or simply a smile will do for now. We can certainly be friendly without shaking hands or hugging for everyone’s safety.
*Be vigilant about washing your hands. You will find hand sanitizer as well as plenty of soap and water.
*We are doubling our efforts of our cleaning crew with extra cleanings before Sundays and Wednesdays with special emphasis on keeping our nursery and children's areas clean.
*For a season, we will not pass the offering plates, but will have ushers available at the doors to receive the offering as well as encouraging you to participate in giving online through our website. Visit www.theoakschurch.org/ and click on “Give” and “Give Online” and follow instructions. You can also download our Oaks Church app at the Google or App Store.
*If you have cold or flu symptoms, we simply ask that you refrain from coming to our worship gatherings or Bible studies until you are all better. You can always join our live stream or recorded version for your convenience on our church page, The Oaks Baptist Church.
*We are closely monitoring and following the precautions advised by the CDC and other federal, state and local public health and government entities as well as our Southern Baptist Convention, The Baptist General Convention of Texas and Dallas Baptist Association, which are now publishing updates and guidelines for our churches. Because this is a very fluid situation, we will respond to new information and follow recommended guidelines and protocols as concerned citizens. If the situation warrants and we must suspend a service(s), we will post this information on our website and page as well as utilize email.
*At this writing, our services are still scheduled. Some members and attenders may opt to not attend for a season, and we especially encourage those who may be at risk due to health conditions to be prudent and take care. Our attitude to those who decide to take this precaution will be non-judgmental. We should encourage them with occasional phone calls and texts! We also want to encourage those not attending to stay engaged through our live video streaming, again on Facebook at The Oaks Baptist Church.
Remember, we are always to be a people of FAITH, and Not Fear! “For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear, I will help you” (Isaiah 41:13). As Martin Lloyd Jones wrote, “Faith is the refusal to panic!” For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control” (2 Timothy 1:7).
Praying for God’s healing over this ~ Pastor Barry
