Holy Trinity Episcopal Church

Holy Trinity is an Episcopal church and welcomes you to come join us for Christian worship and fellowship. We are a family-friendly neighborhood church nestled in the heart of Fayetteville's historic Haymount.

Our motto is "Come in to worship. Go out to serve." We have numerous opportunities for young and old alike to worship and serve our Lord.

Operating as usual

INDOOR SERVICE AT 8 AM! Given the cool weather and the new directives from our Bishop, Mother Nan decided to celebrate Eucharist indoors at the 8:00 service today. Everyone wore masks and social distancing was observed, and the celebration was joyous.
It will be easy to remember the date that Nan's first celebration in our Sanctuary took place. It was on the 20th day of September in the Year 2020, when the readings and prayers for Proper 20 were said!

[09/18/20]   You are invited to join us for online worship this Sunday beginning at 10am. All are welcome!!!!! Click here for the full Service Bulletin

[07/31/20]   AN UPDATE ON MOTHER NAN’S ARRIVAL

We are excited that Mother Nan’s time to arrive as our new rector is fast approaching. Her first day in the office will be Monday, August 17. Her first Sunday service with us will be August 23.

The vestry has formed a committee, chaired by Hallie Bartlett, to handle the logistics of welcoming and introducing her to the congregation and the Fayetteville community. Given the pandemic, it may take a little time for us all to have the chance to meet her in person. She is looking forward, however, to meeting each of us in a manner that is as soon and safe as possible. Stay tuned for further information, and in the meantime, please keep Nan and our church in your prayers.

Faithfully,

Suzanne Pinson, Senior Warden

[07/29/20]   OUTREACH GRANTS ARE NOW AVAILABLE

In the past, Holy Trinity Episcopal Church has raised money each spring through an event call Mayfair. The proceeds from this event were used as Outreach funds and granted to many worthy charities and ministries. Unfortunately, this year there was no Mayfair. However, monies given in memory of Jim Thomas and his daughter Alison have been used this year to start an Outreach Fund. Jim was a faithful parishioner and dedicated leader of Mayfair who loved that through hard work we were able to help many organizations and charities with the money raised each year. With this money, and the generous donations from the parish, we are once again able to offer grants.
If you would like to apply to receive a grant this year, the application can be found on our web site holytrinityfay.org. At the top of the page select the word “Ministries”. The last item on the drop down will be “make a request”. There you will find an application to apply to receive Outreach grant money. The deadline for making a request is August 15, 2020. If you have any questions, call our office at (910)484-2134.

[07/19/20]   THE THOMAS FAMILY AND MAYFAIR OUTREACH FUNDS
Dear Fellow Parishioner:

Donations to Holy Trinity in memory of Jim Thomas and Jim and Brenda’s daughter, Alison, have totaled $5,600. As a tribute to both her husband and daughter, Brenda wishes for the donations to be used to support the church’s outreach ministries, which have been traditionally funded by our Mayfair.

As most of you know, Jim was a dedicated and faithful co-chair of Mayfair for many years until this year when his cancer and the coronavirus combined to end his life. It was decided in late February not to have Mayfair this year and other events were discussed to raise funds to support outreach. Jim was very disappointed and worried that we would not raise enough to support the charities and ministries as we had done in the past. Sadly, as a result of the pandemic, no funds have been raised.

Historically, Mayfair raises approximately $10,000 to support our Outreach Ministry. Last year, funds from Mayfair supported the Child Advocacy Center, our food pantry, Margaret Willis Elementary School, Organizing Against Racism, Fayetteville Urban Ministry, Special Olympics, Fayetteville Friendship House, Daughters of the King, Episcopal Relief and Development, and the Episcopal Farmworkers Ministry. Most likely, these organizations and others need our help even more as a result of the pandemic.

At the July meeting, the Vestry voted to use the monies given in memory of both Jim and Alison Thomas to begin a 2020 Outreach Fund. We are asking each of you to consider donating to the fund whatever amount you might have spent on Mayfair this year but did not. For example, if you and your family usually spend about $25.00 on items, food and raffle tickets, then please consider making a donation in that or any other amount. You may write a check or donate online through the church’s website. Please be sure to note on the online form or your check that the donation is for the Outreach Fund.

Thank you for considering this proposal to fund our Outreach during this pandemic in honor of a man and his family whose generosity to Holy Trinity and its ministries continues to inspire us.

Faithfully,

Suzanne Pinson
Senior Warden

Holy Trinity Introduction

INTRODUCING OUR NEW RECTOR

June 21, 2020
Dear Fellow Members of Holy Trinity:
Following a long and rigorous search process, I am delighted to announce that your vestry has called The Rev. Nancee Ann Cekuta to serve as our next rector.
We look forward to welcoming her around the middle of August.
The Rev. Cekuta (Nan) comes to us from St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church in North Augusta, SC. Previously, she served as an associate and interim rector at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Charlotte. She is a graduate of the School of Theology at the University of the South (Sewanee) and entered the ordained ministry in 2015, following a successful business career in Atlanta.
We believe our new rector will help us move forward, building on the foundations of our recent past and proud traditions, in fulfilling our mission to be Christ to a world in need of redemption and grace. She has the kind of experience, wisdom, and calm assurance to help transition us to new growth; the kind of energy and creativity to bring new meaning to our motto, “Come in to Worship, Go out to Serve.”
Please join me in thanking the search committee for the diligent and excellent work they performed during this discernment process. George Harrison, Chair, along with Amy Beene, Harry Horrocks, J.R. Hustwit, Julie-Lee Jacobs, Dan Middleton, Sarah Moorman, Laura Reeves, Dane Reid and Johanna Thoma. The search committee unanimously brought Nan’s recommendation to the vestry and the vestry in turn unanimously voted to call her as our rector. Join me also in thanking our associate rector, Edward Lowe, for his invaluable and ongoing guidance, leadership, and faithful service to us during this time of transition.
You may virtually meet Rev. Cekuta by clicking here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8K_9U_tD5rM or by visiting our church’s website, page or Facebook group. I hope you will be as excited and eager as I am to welcome Rev. Cekuta to our church community.
Sincerely,
Suzanne Pinson
Senior Warden
