What is Touching Lives Street Ministry? Touching Lives Street Ministry is a ministry that was born out of adversity and the use of drugs, alcohol, and life-controlling substances; but God delivered Calvin Gilmore from them all. In spite of several skeptics of his ideas, Calvin obtained the necessary resources and virtually single-handedly raised monies for the purpose of the outreach ministry. His zealous character and vision lead to the birth of One Accord Street Ministry on May 26, 2007. Gaining the support of the Pastor and the congregation of New Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, he stepped out on faith and orchestrated the first annual One Accord Street Ministry Outreach event. This event was held in the grassy lot of the Advance Auto Parts Store on the corner of Eastern Boulevard and Russel Street. This was an ideal location to provoke the desired target audience due to its proximity to the poverty stricken, addicts, prostitutes, homeless, etc. An excess of 300 people received a blessing that included food, clothing, and the word of God by the Outreach Ministry. Calvin's vision continued the spread of the word of God by other male members in New Calvary Missionary Baptist Church which lead to the second annual Outreach event on Nov. 27, 2007 hosted by Brother George Gilmore. Again, the event proved to be a huge success;exceeding the participation of the previous Outreach event. Calvin increased his Christian responsibilities; as well as, the responsibility of the Outreach Ministry. His appetite to serve God and others lead him to spread his message from the pulpit. He was licensed a Minister by Pastor Larry D. Anderson and preach his initial sermon on March 16, 2008. In addition, his Outreach Ministry Growth caused him to create the "Touching Lives Outreach Ministry" operating on "One Accord".
Mission: OUR MISSION STATEMENT: Jesus Christ is the center of all we do; our mission is community outreach. Reaching out to those in need throughout the community. This Outreach Ministry provides food, clothing, Bibles and tracts to the homeless. We provide help, the Word of God and praise and worship to those that may not know God or may have forgotten about God. We do this through prayer, teaching, praising and lifting up God's name, and being Christ-like in all our conduct. Our mission is to help others know God and mature in their relationship with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We remind people of the great joy we have when we join hearts together and "Praise the Lord". Ultimately, Touching Lives Outreach Ministry wants to ensure that its service and character remains Christ-centered, caring, inviting, friendly and above all spiritual.
