[03/24/20]   Rhythm of Love
The rhythm you establish in life will determine the destination you arrive at
Acts 3
Colossians 3:16-17
Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
Dwell - there should be a display of our faith - the message of Christ in all we do
Our purpose is to live for God in whatever we do - all inclusive to everyone who follows Christ - in every area of life - in whatever role we occupy
Dwell richly - inokio - to take up permanent residence - to make a house a home
Whatever you do should be in rhythm with heaven - the hope of heaven gives us hope
Holy Spirit empowers us to be in rhythm
Does the Word feel at home in your life?
Whatever you welcome into your life controls your direction and destinations
How we are living should be an expression of worship (spontaneous)
Hymn - All to Jesus i surrender
Acts 3:1-10
One day Peter and John were going up to the temple at the time of prayer—at three in the afternoon. Now a man who was lame from birth was being carried to the temple gate called Beautiful, where he was put every day to beg from those going into the temple courts. When he saw Peter and John about to enter, he asked them for money. Peter looked straight at him, as did John. Then Peter said, “Look at us!” So the man gave them his attention, expecting to get something from them. Then Peter said, “Silver or gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.” Taking him by the right hand, he helped him up, and instantly the man’s feet and ankles became strong. He jumped to his feet and began to walk. Then he went with them into the temple courts, walking and jumping, and praising God. When all the people saw him walking and praising God, they recognized him as the same man who used to sit begging at the temple gate called Beautiful, and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him.
1. Invite others
2. Involve yourself in process
3. Ignite the desire in others
Stop worrying about looking for certain purpose but instead should be living on purpose
Acts 3:1 - One Day - referencing an ordinary day - a whatever you do kind of day - shows that prayer was their rhythm of life
Probably singing on their way - Jewish tradition
Lame man at Temple Gate - asked Peter and John for money
Afflicted from birth - affliction addiction - taken to the gate every day - shouting "alms for the poor" - comfort in his affliction is all he can hope for
Sometimes Good wants to use our affliction to change us - to pour something more than comfort into our life
God does not want to comfort us in our affliction, but wants to use the affliction to change us
Everywhere you have been in life has prepared you for where we are right now
God has already supplied the tools for breakthrough
v4 - looked straight at him - Matthew 28 - what would Jesus have done?
V5-6 - what I have I give to you - inviting the man to experience the love of Christ
Should stop settling for less -what God wants to supply us with more - exceeding abundantly above
Stop focusing on and describing what is missing in our lives - we will miss what He is doing right through our lives
v7-10 - if Peter and John had focused on what was wrong in their life they would have missed what heaven wanted to do
Acts 3:11
While the man held on to Peter and John, all the people were astonished and came running to them in the place called Solomon’s Colonnade.
Peter and Joh remained Involved in the process - the man held onto them either for support or because of his joy at being healed
v11 people rushed to find out what happened - a desire for God's move in their lives was ignited

[03/23/20]   Fear Not - Environmental Control
- 1 Samuel 15
- Saul is unwilling to destroy some things that God had directed him to eliminate.
- Law of Environment - we need to control the environment we place our spirits in
- Isaiah 41:8-13
- “But you, Israel, my servant,Jacob, whom I have chosen, you descendants of Abraham my friend, I took you from the ends of the earth, from its farthest corners I called you.I said, ‘You are my servant’;I have chosen you and have not rejected you. So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.I will strengthen you and help you;I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. “All who rage against you will surely be ashamed and disgraced; those who oppose you will be as nothing and perish. Though you search for your enemies, you will not find them. Those who wage war against you will be as nothing at all. For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear;I will help you.
- Isaiah 41:13 (MSG)
- "That's right. Because I, your God, have a firm grip on you and I’m not letting go.I’m telling you, ‘Don’t panic.I’m right here to help you.’"
- 1 John 4:18
- There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.
- Get the facts straight
- Fear is faith misplaced
- The fear that you feel is usually a result of a lie you believe
- Stop living based on others assessment and live your life based on God's acceptance that you already have
- 1 Samuel 15:10 - God regretted making Saul king - God's heart is broken
Sunday, July 19, 2015

Sunday, July 19, 2015
- V12 - Saul set up a monument in his own honor at Carmel - goes to Gilgal to offer sacrifice to God for victory - this is out of order
- Samuel asked why the evidence of disobedience was all around him - the bleating of sheep and the lowing of cattle - Saul blamed his men not himself
- Approval Addiction - have to feel the approval of others - will always take the focus off of God - v22-23 - for rebellion is like the sin of divination - actions outside of God's direction for your life are rebellion against Him.
- v24
- When you feel rejection, you will become overly starved for acceptance - will cause you to lose the thing you value the most - Saul was rejected as king
- Proverbs 29:25 - fear of man is a trap - we have replaced God with man
- Fear ...
- Sin is not wicked because of what you do,but because of who's authority you reject in pursuit of being accepted.
- Fear stands at the doorway of every destiny
- Isaiah 41:9-10
- I have nothing to prove because I have already been approved

[03/22/20]   It's Your Turn
Now Is The Time To Live Out Loud
Matthew 28:18-20
Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Invited and Involved
Greek words for time - Kronos (temporal) & kairos (divine)
Disciples are in a time of chaos (chronos)
Up until now Jesus has done everything for them - all of the kairos - the divine actions (miracles, healings)
From the chaos of the crucifixion to the kairos of the resurrection
Does God want to use us in the chaos to bring about the kairos
It's about keeping the momentum
Jesus said they could what He did with His presence
When we welcome His presence, it shows up in the power of God
Exodus 33:1-3
Then the Lord said to Moses, “Leave this place, you and the people you brought up out of Egypt, and go up to the land I promised on oath to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, saying, ‘I will give it to your descendants.’ I will send an angel before you and drive out the Canaanites, Amorites, Hittites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites. Go up to the land flowing with milk and honey. But I will not go with you, because you are a stiff-necked people and I might destroy you on the way.”
Stiff necked - stubborn and resistant to being led
Exodus 33:4-6
When the people heard these distressing words, they began to mourn and no one put on any ornaments. For the Lord had said to Moses, “Tell the Israelites, ‘You are a stiff-necked people. If I were to go with you even for a moment, I might destroy you. Now take off your ornaments and I will decide what to do with you.’” So the Israelites stripped off their ornaments at Mount Horeb.
Remove some old stuff from your life
Exodus 33:7-11
Now Moses used to take a tent and pitch it outside the camp some distance away, calling it the “tent of meeting.” Anyone inquiring of the Lord would go to the tent of meeting outside the camp. And whenever Moses went out to the tent, all the people rose and stood at the entrances to their tents, watching Moses until he entered the tent. As Moses went into the tent, the pillar of cloud would come down and stay at the entrance, while the Lord spoke with Moses. Whenever the people saw the pillar of cloud standing at the entrance to the tent, they all stood and worshiped, each at the entrance to their tent. The Lord would speak to Moses face to face, as one speaks to a friend. Then Moses would return to the camp, but his young aide Joshua son of Nun did not leave the tent.

Tent is outside the camp to show how hungry the people are to have an intimate relationship with God - how much effort - how willing are you to separate

In order to welcome His presence you must willing to unwelcome some things in your life
Exodus 33:12-15
Moses said to the Lord, “You have been telling me, ‘Lead these people,’ but you have not let me know whom you will send with me. You have said, ‘I know you by name and you have found favor with me.’ If you are pleased with me, teach me your ways so I may know you and continue to find favor with you. Remember that this nation is your people.” The Lord replied, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” Then Moses said to him, “If your Presence does not go with us, do not send us up from here
It is not good intentions that determines your direction. It is the application of God's promises
Moses prayer shows vulnerability - chaos was drowning out the kairos - who is going with me - just because God invites you to kairos does not mean you will not experience chaos during the chronos
All are Invited to display power of God outwardly but will only experience it by longing for His presence inwardly
V14 - won't leave here without you - lack of prayer causes disconnection from what God wants to supply - Moses invited God to be involved - God showed up
V16 how will anyone know you are pleased with me
Exodus 33:16-18
How will anyone know that you are pleased with me and with your people unless you go with us? What else will distinguish me and your people from all the other people on the face of the earth?” And the Lord said to Moses, “I will do the very thing you have asked, because I am pleased with you and I know you by name.” Then Moses said, “Now show me your glory.”
Kick out some uninvited guests - insecurities
He will give rest when we kick out uninvited guests and will give us rest
Proof of kairos is not absence of chaos but how God brings about kairos in the midst of chaos

[03/04/20]   It’s Not How It’s Wow
Philippics 4:4-7
Rejoice in the Lord always [delight, take pleasure in Him]; again I will say, rejoice! Let your gentle spirit [your graciousness, unselfishness, mercy, tolerance, and patience] be known to all people. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious or worried about anything, but in everything [every circumstance and situation] by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, continue to make your [specific] requests known to God. And the peace of God [that peace which reassures the heart, that peace] which transcends all understanding, [that peace which] stands guard over your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus [is yours]
Guard - two soldiers at the gate that have to give permission for all to enter or not
Judges 6:13-16 Gideon said to him, “Please my lord, if the Lord is with us, then why has all this happened to us? And where are all His wondrous works which our fathers told us about when they said, ‘Did not the Lord bring us up from Egypt?’ But now the Lord has abandoned us and put us into the hand of Midian.” The Lord turned to him and said, “Go in this strength of yours and save Israel from the hand of Midian. Have I not sent you?” But Gideon said to Him, “Please Lord, how am I to rescue Israel? Behold, my family is the least [significant] in Manasseh, and I am the youngest (smallest) in my father’s house.” The Lord answered him, “I will certainly be with you, and you will strike down the Midianites as [if they were only] one man.”
Judges 6:23-24 The Lord said to him, “Peace to you, do not be afraid; you shall pnot access the blessing
Prayer was their last resort instead of their first resource - not the last thing we can do -it’s the best thing we can do
We want peace but don’t want to meet the obligation of surrender
v7-10 they cried out after all those years and He answered - sent a prophet -turned their attention to what God had already done for them - reminds them of the power and the love of God
Don’t allow what’s going on now to make u forget what God has already done

[03/04/20]   "Humility is perfect quietness of heart. It is for me to have no trouble; never to be fretted or vexed or irritated or sore or disappointed. It is to expect nothing, to wonder at nothing that is done to me, to feel nothing done against me. It is to be at rest when nobody praises me and when I am blamed or despised. It is to have a blessed home in the Lord where I can go in and shut the door and kneel to my Father in secret and be at peace as in a deep sea of calmness when all around is trouble. It is the fruit of the Lord Jesus Christ's redemptive work on Calvary's cross, manifested in those of His own who are definitely subject to the Holy Spirit."
- Andrew Murray

[03/01/20]   Cure For Whatever #1 - May, 3, 2015
Close the Gap
Philippians 1:12-30

12 Now I want you to know, brothers and sisters,[a] that what has happened to me has actually served to advance the gospel. 13 As a result, it has become clear throughout the whole palace guard[b] and to everyone else that I am in chains for Christ. 14 And because of my chains, most of the brothers and sisters have become confident in the Lord and dare all the more to proclaim the gospel without fear.

15 It is true that some preach Christ out of envy and rivalry, but others out of goodwill. 16 The latter do so out of love, knowing that I am put here for the defense of the gospel. 17 The former preach Christ out of selfish ambition, not sincerely, supposing that they can stir up trouble for me while I am in chains. 18 But what does it matter? The important thing is that in every way, whether from false motives or true, Christ is preached. And because of this I rejoice.

Yes, and I will continue to rejoice, 19 for I know that through your prayers and God’s provision of the Spirit of Jesus Christ what has happened to me will turn out for my deliverance.[c] 20 I eagerly expect and hope that I will in no way be ashamed, but will have sufficient courage so that now as always Christ will be exalted in my body, whether by life or by death. 21 For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain. 22 If I am to go on living in the body, this will mean fruitful labor for me. Yet what shall I choose? I do not know! 23 I am torn between the two: I desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far; 24 but it is more necessary for you that I remain in the body. 25 Convinced of this, I know that I will remain, and I will continue with all of you for your progress and joy in the faith, 26 so that through my being with you again your boasting in Christ Jesus will abound on account of me.

Life Worthy of the Gospel
27 Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Then, whether I come and see you or only hear about you in my absence, I will know that you stand firm in the one Spirit,[d] striving together as one for the faith of the gospel 28 without being frightened in any way by those who oppose you. This is a sign to them that they will be destroyed, but that you will be saved—and that by God. 29 For it has been granted to you on behalf of Christ not only to believe in him, but also to suffer for him, 30 since you are going through the same struggle you saw I had, and now hear that I still have.

The quality of your life cannot exceed the expectations of your mind

The Whatever Happens Gap - the difference between our expectations (unmet = discouragement) and your reality
We tend to lower our expectations to meet the reality of life
Philippians 1:14
And because of my chains, most of the brothers and sisters have become confident in the Lord and dare all the more to proclaim the gospel without fear. (Seems to be a paradoxical reaction to the reality)

Your power does not lie in who you are - your power lies in who you represent
Philippians 1:27
Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Then, whether I come and see you or only hear about you in my absence, I will know that you stand firm in the one Spirit, striving together as one for the faith of the gospel

Conduct yourself according to your calling, not your circumstances

If you win the battle in your mind, you can overcome the struggle in your life

The fact that an enemy has surfaced in your life is a sure sign that unborn seed is in you

The Comparison Trap
Any whatever in your life can only damage the message inside of you if your internal insecurities allow it to
John 11:21-25

21 “Lord,” Martha said to Jesus, “if you had been here, my brother would not have died. 22 But I know that even now God will give you whatever you ask.”

23 Jesus said to her, “Your brother will rise again.”

24 Martha answered, “I know he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day.”

25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die;
