Decorative Horsehair Raku footed dish

etsy.com This decorative horsehair raku footed dish was made using the tail hair from one of my neighbors horses. It measures approximately 10.25 in diameter by about 3.75 high. The dish was made by hand on the potters wheel and bisque-fired for strength. It was then refired in my raku kiln to about 1500

About a month ago, I announced that I was going to close down the online shop on my website and open up an Etsy shop in its place. Since then, I have been making slow progress, setting up the framework of the shop and starting to stock it with pottery.
Happily, the shop has started selling, so it's definitely time to let you know that it now is up and functioning, even though the selection of pots is still pretty small.
The Etsy shop is ArthurLeePottery, and you can find it by going to Etsy and searching for it under that name.
Many thanks,

[10/11/17]   I recently unfriended someone on my personal page when she turned out to be a troll. She responded by visiting this pottery page and leaving a particularly nasty review.
She knows me only through my pages and never has been a colleague or a customer. I deeply resent and deny the substance of her attacks on me, both as a person and as a potter.
I also am really sorry that I feel I have to make this response. Thank you for your understanding and support.

I'm taking a little break, up in North Carolina for the Woodfiring Conference. I've got pots firing in 9 woodfired kilns, testing 3 new clays and 2 new glazes - hoping to learn a lot! Wonderful people, wonderful pots, exciting kilns, great talks and demos - it's quite an experience!

Packing up the next 24 Home Communion sets for the Church Pension Group. Should be all done in a couple of months time.

Diocesan Altar Guild newsletter features Communion set

This month's edition of our Diocesan Altar Guild's Newsletter just came out with a very nice article about the Communion set I donated to the St. Thomas Chapel at DaySpring (our diocesan center). Now that I'm coming towards the end of the CPG home communion sets commission, I'm starting to look towards the future. There are a number of commissions for friends and some new work for the gallery to be completed. Also, I've just laid in some fresh clays for glaze testing for a new commission to make full size chalices and patens for Lent and Holy Week.
Life's busy, but am living into my new motto: keep calm and throw things!

Horse Hair Raku Plate – “China”

This horse-hair raku plate is about 1.5 inches high and 12 inches in diameter. It was made by applying strands of hair from a horse's tail just after the plate was taken hot from the kiln. The word "China" impressed on the back of the plate, that being the name of the horse whose hair was used. The plate is slightly warped. [ 42 more words. ]

CPG – Home Communion Set

These Home Communion sets are being produced for the Episcopal Church Pension Group for use by their Chaplains to Retired Clergy. At the moment, they are only available to the Church Pension Group and their Chaplains to Retired Clergy, although I gather that some sets are being presented to selected other clergy as well. For this reason, the sets are otherwise not for sale. Replacement pieces are, however, available as needed. See the entries for individual chalices, patens and wine cruets.

UNDER CONSTRUCTION!!!!!!!!!!

If you have tried recently to access my website www.arthurleepottery.com you will have found it less than satisfactory ... as have I. There were problems with the hosting company and, as a result, I am now in the process of moving the domain to another host and building a new site which I hope will be both simpler and more reliable.

Be patient ... I hope you will be more patient than I am!

In any case, I will let you know as soon as the new site is up and running ... there is lots of news!!

New Horsehair Raku Pots - Arthur Lee - Pottery

New Horsehair Raku Pots http://wp.me/p4P6n0-2t

arthurleepottery.com Last months firing produced some nice horsehair raku pots, as well as a couple of nice saggar-fired pieces. The CraftArt Gallery in St. Petersburg thought so as well, and have claimed all of the available pieces. So, alas, if you want any of these, you will have to visit the CraftArt Gallery on Central Avenue. More such pieces, however, soon will be forthcoming!

The cards have just arrived for the Polk State Gallery show in Lakeland, starting this Monday! The Reception is on November 20th from 5:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Hope to see you there!

[10/30/14]   The firing last week was really good - cone 10-11 throughout. I'm finally getting the technique for firing this little updraft gas kiln. The only real problem is with reduction: if I throw the kiln into serious reduction, flames come out the bottom and melt the tubing for the pilot lights, but if I don't, then little or no reduction. Any ideas?
