7/18/21 – The Power of Unfailing Love

Hillsong, the Australian praise and worship team, sing a song called "The Power of Your Love." The lyrics include this: Lord I come to You. Let my heart be changed, renewed . . . Lord I've come to know the weaknesses I see in me will be stripped away, by the power of Your love. Jesus' love has unfailing power. How is that power at work?...

July 4, 2021 – Faith Can Indeed Move Mountains

Happy INDEPENDENCE DAY! The Bible tells us that men and women of faith have conquered kingdoms, established justice, put foreign armies to flight, won strength out of weakness. Men of old have forged this path for us. It's FAITH! People of faith can indeed move mountains! It's also commitment to a good and worthy cause. The Lord has given us an example, and today we study the record in Hebrews 11....

6/27/21 – A Good Man 06/26/2021

6/27/21 – A Good Man

Books have been written about the subject matter entitled here, a good man. Typically those stories contain lessons on morality. Morality can be both inward and outward. How do we make those two aspects congruent? We all know the answer--it's not always easy! It takes courage. The Bible speaks about this dozens of times, from the beginning of the Old Testament to the end of the New....

6/20/21 – Adopted into the Father’s Love

As a father, it is easy for us to love the ones inside our house, but what about those outside of the household? On Father's Day we talk about how the father loves his wife, kids, and parents, but what about the step child, a kid who lives down the street, or the one needing a father figure? How does a father build that connection?...

6/13/21 – A Conversion Experience 06/12/2021

6/13/21 – A Conversion Experience

The Old Testament tells about the activity of the Holy Spirit. The Spirit hovered over the waters of the earth in Genesis. The Spirit came upon prophets and they prophesied. The Spirit sounds like the whirring of wheels. The Spirit's wings flutter. In the New Testament the Holy Spirit appeared as "tongues of fire." Paul later calls the Holy Spirit the "Spirit of Christ" and the "Spirit of God." Just how the Holy Spirit works we do not know, but we do know that something happens in the presence of the Holy Spirit....

As we celebrate Memorial Day, we recognize the soldiers who fought and gave their lives to keep our country safe. Soldiers have to train and stay mentally strong as they await the day for battle. They have to be ready to fight, ready to defend, and ready to die. Like soldiers, Christians have a battlefield to fight on each day. It is our sole duty to spread the gospel and fight the Good fight of Faith until death....

5/16/21 – Daily News: Jesus Alive!

This Sunday celebrates Jesus' ascension. It happened forty days after the resurrection. He spent all those forty days appearing to the disciples, eating with them and proving in many ways that he was alive. In fact, he appeared during those days to over 500 people, and later to Paul on the road to Damascus. Jesus is alive! He talked to them about the Kingdom of God and also about the Holy Spirit....

5/2/21 – Simply Christ or Fully Lord?

Many crowds followed Jesus. They were impressed by his words of wisdom. They were impressed because he did miracles and cast out demons. He could stand his own. He could take on the "big guys." 4/25/21 – Don’t Give Up the Ask

One thing about little children is that they are willing to ask. Have you been around a young child recently? Innocence drives children. You are big. They are small. You must have the help/food/toy/ability they need. So they do not hesitate to ask. Have you been shopping with a child who constantly asks for . . . well, anything! 4/18/21 – The Blame Game

This week's sermon is all about three simple words that Jesus said: DO NOT JUDGE. This seems like a simple topic--so why is it so hard to talk about? Perhaps people will judge my sermon and it will come up short! Perhaps my sermon will make them feel guilty! So should I make it funny? I wonder if Jesus ever had such thoughts?...

3/21/21 – Mercy Me: Jesus Changes Attitudes

Attitudes can make all the difference. Have you been in a restaurant where the waiter had a great attitude? Or perhaps you've experienced a clerk in a store who went the second mile for you? Attitude makes a difference! Attitude makes a difference to God, too. Often when Jesus did things publicly, like go to a party or teach in the synagogue, or heal someone, the Pharisees would have the wrong attitude....

3/14/21 – The Work of the Church 03/11/2021

3/14/21 – The Work of the Church

What do you think that the purpose of the church is? Some may say, "to worship God" or "to study the Bible" or "to fellowship with others." All of that is true. The church, though, is not necessarily about itself. While we love and care for one another and it makes a wonderful difference, we also love and care for our neighbors, who may never darken the door of our--or any other--church building....
