The Great Christmas Cookie Walk
The Great Christmas Cookie Walk is back for 2019! Join us on Saturday, December 14th to make your selections. Doors open at 9 am. We can accommodate early arrivals indoors if needed. We will once again offer three sizes of empty boxes, gloves and the largest selection of handmade cookies and holiday treats to fill them. If you can't make the sale, contact us for pre-orders.
Mission: To be Christ's disciples. To learn, live and spread christian faith, hope and love.
Not much flour? Or are you working with a flour substitute? Try these.
It’s been scarce, so I hit the pantry and created these tasty treats.
1 1/2 cups almond flour
1/2 cup flour
1 cup brown sugar
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 cup oil
1/2 tsp vanilla
Mix dry ingredients, whisk egg and extract into oil. Mix until dough comes together.
Make golf ball sized scoops, press fingers to flatten.
Bake 12-15 minutes at 375. Cool completely before moving. Makes 14 cookies.

It seems like all the flour in stores has disappeared! We’ve thought about it and decided it must mean that everyone’s freezer is starting to look like this one.
So.... we see you all checking in because....well, social distancing. The Cookie Walk is basically the antithesis of what we’re all undergoing right now. So here’s the deal- instead of dreaming, start doing!
Rule 1: wash your hands!
1 cup of peanut butter (smooth or chunky)
1 cup of sugar ( white, brown or 1/2 cup of each)
Stir together until ingredients are well mixed. Using a spoon, drop on a greased or parchment lined tray. Press to flatten with a glass dipped in sugar, a fork dipped in sugar or two fingers dipped in sugar.
Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 8-12 minutes. You’ll have to check them and decide for yourself. Let cool. Remove carefully- these cookies can be a bit crumbly.
The recipe doesn’t make a lot, so you won’t have them around for days. But maybe they’ll make you feel a bit better.
Rule 2: Enjoy. Try to relax friends.
Now that the holiday season is ending and we draw the curtains on the 6th Great Christmas Cookie Walk, we wanted to take time to thank all of you.
We appreciate your support and enthusiasm for this project. We couldn’t have done it without the help, support, promotion and all the interest in actually buying our empty boxes.
We wish you a “Great” 2020 and hope your box gets filled with lots of fabulous things and experiences.
And yes, we know we look silly...but look at all those cookies everyone made!!!

Who made those oatmeal pecan topped cookies? So yummy!
Trying to get through 40 tables! Not going to make it before Christmas.
This is what happens when one person is trying to make crooked lines while their partner is OCD.
Candy for everyone!
Short girls have a hard time getting the whole tabletop.
Chocolate chip bacon & caramel, toffee squares, double chocolate white chocolate chip.
How about this one?
Did you see this one?
We have 40 tables to show you!
They said not all of their cookies would fit on the table so they had one or two of each “left over”. We think it was a ploy to sample perfectly good cookies....
It looked like a lot of work, why do you do it and what happens to what you raise?
We’re a non-profit church which supports various other community partners including, but not limited to: Whatcoat Shelter, Mom’s House Dover, Code Purple, Dover Interfaith, Shepherds Place, USO Delaware, Kent Ecumenical Food & Crisis, Towne Point Elementary, Read-Aloud Delaware, and more.
Raising these funds allows other groups within the church to continue their outreach ministry.
We appreciate your support. We will continue to post more tables throughout the holiday season! We know many of you only saw them as they were being depleted. 🍪🍪🍪🍪🍪
The artists who created this table said “the struggle was real” the dark mocha shortbread was so dark that they felt everything else had to be colorful!
This was Jack’s table! Grandma’s Sugar Cookies, Snickerdoodles, Pecan Snickerdoodles, Ranger, Peanut Butter Oatmeal Chocolate Chip...not sure if the list is complete!
We had 40 tables and each one was different!
If you enjoy mint, this table was for you!
This popped up today!

We started with 40 tables filled with thousands of cookies and our doors are still open for a bit. Stop by before we start boxing for our box sales!
We’re almost there! Our line is open and our early cookie walkers are comfortably seated in our line and making friends! Come on out!
Hello Cookie Walk fans- we’ll see you in 8 short hours. We’ve been a bit busy getting ready for your visit and we’re looking forward to seeing you! Due to the weather forecast, we’ve changed our entrance so that you can wait indoors if you’re early. We will be using the front door to the church. We think you will be more comfortable waiting indoors while we put the finishing touches on the event.
We have plenty of cookies, parking and lots of empty boxes. See you soon!
Thank you for your interest in our event. We still have much to do, so if you have questions today, please scroll through our page for answers or call 302-736-1617. The two 👩🍳👩🍳you are messaging are a bit busy. We are no longer able to respond to questions online today. We’ll see you tomorrow!

Our volunteers will sport their aprons and other holiday attire tomorrow. We’re there to help and appreciate your patience. Together, we will all have a good time.

delawarestatenews.net DOVER — The Great Christmas Cookie Walk shut down after five great years. Saint Andrew’s Lutheran Church parishioners and friends wanted it back, they said. Following three years of rest, co-founders Lori Speed and Terri Brown summoned the energy to resume the tasty fundraiser. “When you do an...
The Great Christmas Cookie Walk was an idea conceived and planned over one very long lunch one Summer day in 2010. Once we had our plan, all we had to do was make it happen. We came together again in November of that year to get started. That first year of baking and decorating filled 31 tables with over 100 varieties of handmade cookies. We sold out in under two hours! We considered the first sale a success and we took what we learned from that event and simply tried to make each year that followed a bit better. Each year we filled more tables so that in our fifth year we had 50 tables and hundreds of happy cookie fans.
Our original plan was to hold the walk for five years and by 2015, we knew we needed to stick with that plan. It was 5 years of fun. We loved the project, the fellowship and the community which supported us each year, but the break was needed. The two lead elves had agreed that we would only move forward when we were both ready. We’re ready. Mark your calendar now. The Great Christmas Cookie Walk will return December 14th, 2019.
When our doors open again this year, you’ll be able to purchase your empty box, we’ll hand you your glove and you can take your time filling that box. Before you leave, you’ll stop at the wrapping station where your box will be closed and tied so that the cookies don’t jump out on your way home! Don’t worry, if your box won’t close, we’ll have plenty of empty boxes available for purchase so that those cookies (and a few more that you may have missed) can still go home with you.
Thank you for your support and we’re looking forward to seeing you in December!
