I once had someone tell me I was a Proverbs 31 woman, however, I don't think he was ready for the Deborah and Jael in me. When you think about how Scripture describes marriage how does that influence how you define a biblical wife?

How Biblical Is Your Biblical Womanhood?

If we’re basing our beliefs on Scripture, and if Jesus said all of Scripture points to Him, then wouldn’t it make sense to build or at least harmonize our biblical womanhood on how Jesus related to women?

Why Bari Weiss' resignation from the New York Times matters to evangelicals and to American culture - Denison Forum

This blog by Dr. Jim Denison and the Denison Forum is similar to the blog post by Wade Burleson. In this post Dr. Denison talks about the current trend for news agencies to report or distort information favoring one viewpoint. As Christians we must be aware and respond accordingly. Dr. Denison gives specific examples of how we might respond. Bari Weiss' resignation from the New York Times has generated headlines this week. In The Daily Article for July 17, 2020, Dr. Jim Denison tells her story, then examines the "new consensus" she identifies and its crucial significance for Christians and our larger culture.

Will I Listen to an Expert on the State of My Soul?

I started following Wade Burleson many years ago because I ran across a post of his regarding women in ministry. He presented a balanced and biblical perspective on a divisive topic. In this pandemic, I have found his counsel to be equally balanced and biblical. This blog speaks to individual choice and how we should not, we must not, resign our freedoms. It's a quick read. I'd enjoy hearing your thoughts. A blog on theology, history, and culture

As many churches went online for the first time and everyone made digital their default, the long debate about whether online church is ‘real’ or not is settled.

And even if it’s not settled theologically (a few still have questions and objections and always will), it is settled practically.

Of course physical gatherings will return with joy as restrictions lift (don’t ignore the probability that the restrictions will lift partially and gradually), but to think that the world will suddenly go back to 100% physical when people have experienced digital is highly unlikely.

In the future church, if you care about people, you'll care about digital church.

The Problem with Group Gatherings

When we get our groups together are we really building community? Group gatherings. Some groups forego them altogether. A group member in Albuquerque, New Mexico, recently approached me at the end of a workshop I led at the state’s annual evangelism conference. S…

Christ the Lord Is Risen Today - Mormon Tabernacle Choir

“He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee: ‘The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.'” Luke 24:6-7

Imagine you’re watching Jesus hang from the cross. The only way He can breathe is by pushing Himself up using the nails in His wrists and ankles.

As the day draws to an end, He musters what little strength He has left to pull Himself up again so that He can cry out: “My God, my God, why have You forsaken me?”

If we’re being honest with ourselves, we’ve all probably had moments where we’ve asked God, “Where are You in this? Why have You forsaken me?”

How should we respond when we find ourselves in situations where we feel alone, anxious, or forsaken?

The words Jesus spoke on the cross were actually taken from Psalm 22—a prophetic lament written by King David. In many ways, this Psalm is about Jesus, but it also provides us with three action steps we can follow when we feel alone:

1. Be honest with God about how you’re feeling.

Relationships start with being real. So if you’re feeling forsaken by God, tell Him that. Ask God your questions, and prepare your heart to hear his answers.

2. Give God glory anyway.

Our feelings don’t change the fact that God is worthy of being worshiped. In fact, it’s often through worship that we discover the cure for our worry. When we focus on who God is, our perspective eventually shifts—even if our situation doesn’t.

3. Remind God of his promises.

Throughout Psalm 22, David basically tells God, “I know who You are. And since You’re always true to character, deliver me like You’ve delivered Your people before me.” Reminding God of his promises is not only an act of faith, but it also helps us remember the faithfulness of God’s character.

Ultimately, God’s faithfulness was personified when Jesus was crucified. Jesus willingly suffered alone on the cross so that we could experience eternal companionship with God. Jesus is the prophetic fulfillment of Psalm 22. And, because He endured separation from God, we never have to.

Take a moment to reflect on Jesus’ ultimate sacrifice for you.

Pray: Jesus, thank You for rescuing me from eternal separation from You. It’s because You willingly endured separation from Your Father that I never have to. Today, help me to pause and reflect on the magnitude of Your sacrifice, and to give You the glory You rightly deserve. No matter what I’m feeling, You are always worthy of my worship. So today, I choose to worship You. In Jesus’ name, Amen

LifeWay Recommends | Studies without Videos - LifeWay Women All Access

We know many of you gather in church meeting rooms or cozy living rooms for a couple of hours each week to study God’s Word together. But Bible study isn’t a one-size-fits-all commitment. If you can’t meet for more than an hour or if you’re between small groups and studying alone, choosing studies without videos may be your best option. What matters most is that you’re finding time to dig deeper into Scripture and grow closer to God. LifeWay Women Recommends | We're sharing 6 Bible studies to reach for the next time you need to forego videos. Bonus, we're including 3 Bible studies with FREE videos!

Every Southern Baptist who loves Jesus and believes the Bible needs to understand that the crisis over "the role of women" in the SBC is a self-made crisis that need not happen. This issue is a third-tier doctrinal issue not worth separating over.
