Preparing for Sunday

Eternal Father, you gave to your incarnate Son the holy name of Jesus to be the sign of our salvation: Plant in every heart, we pray, the love of him who is the Savior of the world, our Lord Jesus Christ; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, in glory everlasting. Amen.

Almighty God, you have poured upon us the new light of your incarnate Word: Grant that this light, enkindled in our hearts, may shine forth in our lives; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Here is a short film called โ€œHe Came Downโ€, reflecting upon the meaning of Advent. โ€œIf youโ€™re feeling rejected, excluded, a stranger... remember the one who came down to the mangerโ€

In need of prayer? If so, please leave your prayer request in the comments section below, and we will pray for you.

Third Sunday of Advent
Stir up your power, O Lord, and with great might come among us; and, because we are sorely hindered by our sins, let your bountiful grace and mercy speedily help and deliver us; through Jesus Christ our Lord, to whom, with you and the Holy Spirit, be honor and glory, now and for ever. Amen.

Merciful God, who sent your messengers the prophets to preach repentance and prepare the way for our salvation: Give us grace to heed their warnings and forsake our sins, that we may greet with joy the coming of Jesus Christ our Redeemer; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Advent Conspiracy began with a radical idea. It asked, โ€œWhat if we are doing Christmas all wrong?โ€ Every year, we find ourselves complaining or stressed out by: โ–ช๏ธSeeing Christmas decorations set up at the mall earlier than last year โ–ช๏ธDealing with the endless list of people you need to buy gifts for โ–ช๏ธStanding in long lines, waiting for the cashier to ring you up โ–ช๏ธCompeting with the neighbors to see whose house decorations best exemplify the Christmas spirit In short, what if we took the โ€œmessโ€ out of Christmas, and put Christ back into it?

News flash!

A moment for those before us that have shaped our faith and love of God

On All Soulsโ€™ Day (November 2), we remember the departed. Let us especially remember those who died from acts of violence and hatred.... Let us pray... Loving God, you are the author and sustainer of our lives. You know the anguish of the sorrowful, you are attentive to the prayers of the brokenhearted. Hear your people who cry out to you in their need; strengthen their hope in your lasting goodness. We pray today for those who have died because of violence, of terrorism. Draw them to yourself; let your face shine upon them. May they be greeted with choirs of angels and experience your eternal peace and joy. Be near to all those who have been touched by violence: those who have been hurt, lost their loved ones or lost their sense of security. Be for them a steady comfort and safe resting place. Soften the hearts and steady of the minds of those who would do violence to others. May hate be replaced with love, violence with peace and darkness with your light. Amen.

Let me but live my life from year to year, With forward face and unreluctant soul; Not hurrying to, nor turning from the goal; Not mourning for the things that disappear In the dim past, nor holding back in fear From what the future veils; but with a whole And happy heart, that pays its toll To Youth and Age, and travels on with cheerโ€”Henry Van Dyke on the future

Let us give thanks to God our Father for all his gifts so freely bestowed upon us. Let us pray...
