Elder John Anderson

[08/16/20]   “For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin ; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. 2 Cor 5:21

We were born in sin and shaped in iniquity, but Christ knew no sin so he became sin. Jesus first joined himself to us by becoming sin for us. He became a man like us, ultimately to be joined to us in sin. Not that he committed sin, but sin was placed upon him so that he could pay the price for our sins.

If we then are to be joined to Christ, then we must die to sin, reject the sinful influences of the world and of the flesh. We have to put away lying, cursing, fornication, immoral texting and sexting. Put away the sending and looking at pornographic images. Put away all manner of filthy communication. This is what it means to be dead to sin.

Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.

“Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God. Rom 6:11-13”

(A message for married Christian men)
If you married her ... then love her, protect her, and care for her.
Never speak negatively of her to friends or shame her publicly; resolve to solve problems privately or through counseling.
Love her like Christ loved the church; unconditionally and sacrificially.
Love her not only with your words, but with your attention and your time.
Pray FOR her and WITH her; she battles many things you are not even aware of.
Above all, be willing to lay down your life for her - physically and spiritually. Be willing to place your “old nature“ on the sacrificial altar of commitment.
“Forsaking all others” does not simply mean any other romantic relationship; it means ALL OTHERS - period. This includes fantasies, flirty friends, chat rooms, and risqué or pornographic material.

If she cannot “feel” your love, work on it until she does. When you dish out the affection she craves you will gain the respect you desire.
If she married a great man, don't make her endure marriage with a below-average husband.
If she married an “on fire for God” Christian, don’t make her endure marriage with an embittered backslider.
You’ve heard it said, “If momma ain’t happy, nobody’s happy.”
Here’s a new one: If daddy ain’t on fire, the whole house cools down.

Marriage is an amazing occurrence; nobody will ever be closer to you than this woman who was once a perfect stranger to you. It supersedes all human intelligence. It exceeds blood relationships. You become one. She is flesh of your flesh and bone of your bone.

The greatest thing you could ever do for your wife is to honor and cherish her for giving up her life and her name to start an adventure with you.
There are many good things in life you have passion for and you desire to be best at. Let marriage be at the top of the list.
If you like my message, you’ll love my book. I touch on a number of subjects; relationships being one of them.

In the Old Testament, God was in the burning bush temporarily. God was in the ark of the covenant temporarily. In the New Testament, God was in Christ permanently. Jesus was God's final Word and dwelling place. He was the embodiment of God and the means God chose to redeem us.

2 Corinthians 5:19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.

Colossians 2:8,9 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. 9 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.

Hebrews 1: 1-3 God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, 2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;
3 Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high:
