A reading from the Book of John
For today, a reading from the Book of John. Stephen wanted to send the whole reading, but it was 8 minutes long, so, here is the last 2 minutes.
Thank you to The Gathering for being a big part of my life!
Grace, mercy, and peace be to you from Jesus Christ our Lord from your brothers and sisters at the Welcome Church of El Cajon in California!
I usually do my rendition of Amazing Grace to the tune of The House of the Rising Sun at the Gathering, but now I've found another rendition worth trying. I need to find a lead guitarist, though! https://www.godtube.com/watch/?v=YKKDPWNX
Hey guys - it's super cool to hear about what's going on here. We hope to show up one day if we're down in the area. God bless you guys.
As I stay at home in the warmth I want to wish my family at The Gathering a very Happy New Year's Eve.
See y'all tomorrow. I'll be filling in for Steve and Karen.

A Street-Ministry TO, WITH & FOR our local homeless community--a Sunday church w/o walls & a Mission Station of the Episcopal Diocese of Dallas.

We meet in Thanks-Giving square outdoors every Sunday, 52 weeks a year, rain or shine, sleet or sun. Gatherings occur earlier, but our Sunday service begins at 1:00 pm, followed by a meal at appx. 1:45 pm. For more about us or to donate, please check our website: http://www.gatheringdallas.org/

Operating as usual

[05/28/21]   DEAR FRIENDS OF THE GATHERING:

As of appx 3 weeks ago (early May, 2021), as things have been starting to move back towards normalcy, we of The Gathering Church have been refused to continue meeting in Thanks-Giving Square, by orders of their president, Kyle Ogden. And at that time, we were also required to move our homeless clothing, sound system & supplies out of our closet in the basement ASAP.

And though it was his personal decision, we think the board may have had no knowledge of this move. Still, they need to accept the fact that they’ll apparently no longer be living-up to their name or their posted vision.

Now, unless we can find another suitable location, a place that will respect & accept our presence after covid, there is a possibility that we may not be able to remain in existence.

Please stay tuned, and thank God that OUR CALLING is still a viable option for our homeless brethren. Please pray for us, too. We are still willing to serve!

EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY: DO NOT COME TO THE SQUARE--We are very sorry to say that The Gathering WILL NOT be holding any Sunday Church Services, & serving NO MEALS in the near future, do to the seriousness of this outbreak.

We cannot yet promise a date when things will resume as they have been over the past 7 years, but we will continue to monitor & reevaluate the medical situation, and we’ll make a periodic decision for the possibility of resuming any regular Sunday schedule (which will always be posted here). THERE IS A GREAT POSSIBILITY that it could be longer than we’d wish.

Until this virus pandemic becomes controllable, or with clearer positive medical outcomes, no one should be put at risk of exposure.

Stay tuned here for further updates on a week-by-week basis, as we hope to resume regular Sunday services with everyone as soon as safely possible.

FYI, we are under the EDoD--the Episcopal Diocese of Dallas--rules & regulations, and as such, must be cleared by the bishop.

We found these 3 books on a nearby ledge across from the altar this past Sunday 3/8. Did you leave these there by accident? Pls tell Tom Hauser if they’re yours, or post a comment below.
