Y'ALL. Right now. Three seconds in and we're already worshipping hard!!!! Join me!
Ready for communion CoH, and SO grateful to be here✝️
Ready for Communion CoH❤️✝️
If we learn nothing else from Jesus, his life and ministry and spirituality, we are “the nearest neighbor” in this pandemic.
To all church, pastoral staff and your families..there are no sufficeint words to express our gratitude for everything you all continue to do for this community! We see you, we hear you, we love with you and we continue to pray for you! Thank you
When we can’t “kiss it and make it better” nor offer “warm hugs” of comfort, creating space becomes all the more vital, as in “life-giving” or “life-preserving.”
Happy Sunday
I'm signing the red attendance pad for today and for all previous Sundays that we have been "televised". I love you all. I miss you all. Your prayers for my continued health have paid off like a slot machine! Thank you, thank you, thank you, Kathy

How sheltering in place may become sheltering in peace.
Cathedral of Hope communion! We work with what we have, and for that I am grateful. Happy Sunday ❤☮💟✝️❤ — at Cathedral of Hope.
I was watching NBC 5 news and in the weather part they had a high view from “the Clay Cooley Cam.” There in the foreground is Cathedral of Hope! Maybe we need a big sign on our roof!!!

The Mission of Cathedral of Hope is to reclaim Christianity as a faith of extravagant grace, radical inclusion and relentless compassion.

We are a Vibrant, Inclusive, Progressive (VIP) Christian church. We value every individual, wherever they are on life’s journey. We believe that God wants us to be full of joy and hope for our future.

What is Juneteenth?, by Candace Thompson.

“What, to the American slave, is your 4th of July? I answer: a day that reveals to him, more than all other days in the year, the gross injustice and cruelty to which he is the constant victim. To him, your celebration is a sham; your boasted liberty, an unholy license; your national greatness, swelling vanity; your sounds of rejoicing are empty and heartless; your denunciations of tyrants, brass fronted impudence; your shouts of liberty and equality, hollow mockery; your prayers and hymns, your sermons and thanksgivings, with all your religious parade, and solemnity, are, to him, mere bombast, fraud, deception, impiety, and hypocrisy — a thin veil to cover up crimes which would disgrace a nation of savages. There is not a nation on the earth guilty of practices, more shocking and bloody, than are the people of these United States, at this very hour.”
-Fredrick Douglas

Juneteenth is the answer to the question Honorable Fredrick Douglas asks. Juneteenth also known as Freedom Day is the “Independence Day” of enslaved African Americans/Black people in the state of Texas and other confederate states. News of the Emancipation Proclamation was issued on January 1, 1863 and declared all who held in the horrific, inhuman, unjust institution of slavery to be free. However, the news traveled slowly until Union soldiers arrived in Galveston two and a half years later on June 19th in 1865 announcing the total emancipation for all persons who had remained in the brutal bondage of slavery. Texas State Representative Al Edwards led the charge for recognizing Juneteenth as a state holiday in 1980. Juneteenth serves as a catalyst in the fight for African-Americans living in the south to be accepted as full citizens in the United States. Nonetheless, much work remains across the nation as African-Americans continue to be systematically disenfranchised and oppressed by discriminatory policies.
Today, Juneteenth is recognized as a state or ceremonial holiday in all but four states (Hawaii, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Montana). Juneteenth celebrations include park parties, family reunions, block parties, and Miss Juneteenth pageants. Won’t you celebrate our collective Independence Day in a new way?

Supreme Court Says LGBTQ Employees Are Protected By Civil Rights Employment Statutes

Breaking News:

The Supreme Court has delivered a historic victory for LGBTQ workers, ruling that the federal law that bars sex discrimination in employment does apply to LGBTQ employees.

yahoo.com While Title VII bars discrimination on the basis of “race, color, national origin, sex, and religion,” the original bill didn’t define “sex” as a term.

A Psalm of David. Ascribe to the Lord, O heavenly beings, ascribe to the Lord glory and strength. Ascribe to the Lord the glory of his name; worship the Lord in holy splendor.

The voice of the Lord is over the waters; the God of glory thunders, the Lord, over mighty waters. The voice of the Lord is powerful; the voice of the Lord is full of majesty.

The voice of the Lord breaks the cedars; the Lord breaks the cedars of Lebanon. He makes Lebanon skip like a calf, and Sirion like a young wild ox.

The voice of the Lord flashes forth flames of fire. The voice of the Lord shakes the wilderness; the Lord shakes the wilderness of Kadesh. The voice of the Lord causes the oaks to whirl, and strips the forest bare; and in God’s temple all say, ‘Glory!’ The Lord sits enthroned over the flood; the Lord sits enthroned as ruler forever. May the Lord give strength to the people! May the Lord bless the people with peace!

You are my friends if you do what I command. I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from God I have made known to you. You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit–fruit that will last. Then God will give you whatever you ask in my name. This is my command: Love each other.

Even if you are not a southern gospel fan, you can always tag someone who is in might appreciate it.

Cathedral of Hope Stands in Protest: Black Lives Matter!

In this week's Pulse Worship Rev. Neil G. Thomas challenged us to stand up and speak out even more than before. Silence is not an option. This video takes clips from Voices of hope and a sample from his message to challenge us all to conintue in this fight and declare that #blacklivesmatter. We have also signed an open letter, standing with hundreds of other LGBTQ organizations as a part of our protest to end the systemic racism in our country, which can be found in at this link.
