Islamic Actions Summer Camp

Islamic Actions Summer Camp developed out of desires to have an affordable Islamic environment for muslim children to hang out in during the summer months. We understand the need for our kids to see the masjid as more than a once a week place for prayer.

Mission: Islamic Actions Summer Camp represents a growing vision of an affordable alternative for parents catering to the Islamic community needs of their children. Children of all faiths are welcome of course; however, we want Muslim children to know the masjid as more than somewhere they go on Friday for prayer. Many of our children don't attend Islamic schools or hang with muslim friends. School being a factor, they are not even able to attend Jumah (Friday service) on a regular basis. What will that mean as they get older? Will they choose the masjid as a place to go when they're old enough to go out on their own?? Well as they move into ages where they are choosing where to spend their time, we want them to CHOOSE the masjid! It was decided that one of the ways to encourage that to happen is to create FUN, memorable experiences at the masjid while they are young. It is a work in progress no doubt, but there is also no doubt that with Allah's (SWT) help we can't, won't lose! As-salaamu Alaikum!!

[09/02/15]   I'm interested in resuming summer camp. Is anyone interested in helping?

Islamic Wall Art Project

Campers were asked to sketch Islamic art drawings on paper and then were given home decor fabric remnants (about the size of small prayer mats) on which they used fabric scraps, felt, and trim to recreate their sketches. Afterwards I took them home and sewed around all the edges for a little more stability and dimension. We offered them for sell with each one priced by its artist according to what they determined its value should be. As an incentive, the campers were allowed to keep $5 from their sales with the remainder going into our camp fund. They did an OUTSTANDING job on this project!! If you didn't get one, you missed out!!
