[03/14/17]   Text : Matt 5:14-16
Topic: Being Light

Light is quiet, but shines to attracts. No matter hw thick the darkness is,light overpowers and illuminate it .whenever you see darkness prevailing, it reveals a complete absence of light. Jesus, who is the light of the world announced that whoever follows him, will never walk in darkness ( john 8:12).light reveals things that are hidden. you can only succeed to hide your sins when there is no light to xpose them. our text says you are the light that shines in this dark world the whole world is dark n sinful, its principles conflict God's will. The life of Jesus in you is the beacon of the light that the world is waiting to see. If your presence does not make sinners uncomfortable in their act, then check your light.Arise n shine, this is ur calling.

Reflection :HV bn lightened by Christ n is ur light shining

Prayer :lord help me to keep shining even in the darkest night of life.Amen

Thanks for reading

The Voice of the Martyrs

CHINA: JOY IN PRISON
As the date of her long-anticipated release from prison neared, Cheng Jie wondered whether her young sons would even remember her. She’d spent the last two years at a labor camp in China, and she hadn’t seen her sons at all during her imprisonment.
Cheng Jie — a young mother, a pastor’s wife, and a former kindergarten director — never anticipated her 2014 arrest. With a husband who was a pastor in China where religion is tightly controlled, she and her husband, Du Hongbo, had prepared for his possible arrest, but never hers. In the end, it was her role as the director of the Hualin Foreign Language Experimental Kindergarten that took her to prison for two years.
Chinese authorities charged the school and its administration of “illegal business operations,” due to the use of what the authorities called religious curriculum. The school was closed, and four people associated with it, including Cheng Jie, were arrested
At first, prison was a scary time for Cheng Jie. She had never known anyone with drug problems or who engaged in criminal behavior, but here she was, suddenly crammed in a cell with 15 criminals. Some of her cellmates were due to be put to death for committing murders. Their 15 by 15 foot cell had one toilet for the women to share. Quarrels would often break out between the women. Others would sob continually. The women were expected to work 12-hour work days and were fed very little, usually rice with boiled cabbage or radishes. Soon, however, Cheng Jie realized she had a unique opportunity to minister to the other women, and she began to love them.
“Even though I was in prison, I felt like I am happy because I have the joy from God,” she said.
Her husband was allowed to visit once a month, but the children, who were 1- and 3-years-old when she was arrested, were not allowed to come. During their visits, the husband and wife encouraged one another, but the guards refused to allow him to give Cheng a Bible.
Du Hongbo
Du Hongbo cared for their two young sons while his wife was in prison
But God provided her with a copy of His Word another way. Another prisoner had one, and she traded it to Cheng Jie for some other items. Despite the long work hours, Cheng read the Bible faithfully every night and found encouragement in God’s Word. She also taught her cellmates songs, hymns, and Bible stories.
Her faith and trustworthiness made her stand out to prison authorities. “God is great! It makes me think of Joseph in the Old Testament. After six months, they let me manage all these cells,” she told us.
She was also thankful for a good lawyer who advised her on how to address the charges against her. She pled not guilty; if she had said she was guilty, she may have gotten a longer sentence. She said she often felt anxious, but she learned to trust God for each day during her imprisonment.
Another thing that provided encouragement was all the letters she received containing hymns, Bible verses and encouraging notes from VOM readers using Prisoner Alert. As letters poured in from the United States, she thought, “Really, I can’t go through this, but because of the encouragement from all over the world, it makes my faith strong. That is why I can go through my difficulties.”
On the day of her release, with her sons
In February 2016, Cheng Jie’s sentence was complete, and she was released. It took a while for her now 3 and 5 year old sons to warm up to her, but the family is grateful to be reunited. Though it was hard on Do Hongbo to care for the boys on his own, he said God gave him good health during that time so he could take care of the children.
Today, the family faces an uncertain future. They don’t know what life will hold for them. Cheng Jie’s prison record is a black mark against the family. It will be difficult to find work and her sons may not be allowed to enter school. Though they were reluctant to leave behind their church family, Du Hongbo decided, “The church belongs to God.” They are preparing to relocate.
For now, Cheng Jie is glad to be back with her husband and her two boys. She is especially glad for all the prayers that were offered for her and her family. “Sisters and brothers, thank you for your encouragement,” she said.

3 Truths by Billy Graham:
- God put you on the journey of life.
- God wants to join us on this journey.
- God calls us to a new journey—to take a new path of faith and trust in Him.

[09/26/16]   Let us draw near to the Lord this day as the Lord has drawn near to us. God is willing to pour out His glory, but there are few that are willing to stand in the gap for Him. As the scripture says that we must offer ourselves as living sacrifices before God, that as Paul said I am crucified with Christ. May we live our lives accordingly so that we may be living representations of God. We must break ourselves from our comfort zones, and allow God to work on us the plan of which has been predestined before the foundations of the earth. God is willing and able to do all things for us beyond our understanding, but there are times and seasons where we must be willing to do the work. Take up your cross this day and be an example to the world so they may know that you are called from on high.

[09/24/16]   "Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen."

Yet we urge you, brothers and sisters, to do so more and more, and to make it your ambition to lead a quiet life: You should mind your own business and work with your hands, just as we told you, so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders and so that you will not be dependent on anybody. 1Thes 4:11-12

[09/23/16]   How many young men and women thinks that examples are set by parents alone? well let me encourage your mind and correct some wrong ideologies "1Timothy 4:12 Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity."

The significance of night vigil to prayer
What is the significance of night vigil to prayer? How does it help prayer to be answered?
A vigil is a period of intentional sleeplessness. This word has its root in the Italian word vigilia which also means “eve”. A religious vigil may be held on the eve of a religious festival (feast days), observed by remaining awake as a devotional exercise or ritual observance.
The Midnight Mass held on Christmas Eve is a remnant of this practice which is rare in Orthodox Christianity and in the western world generally.
In this part of the world, regular vigil keeping has become very popular amongst Pentecostal Christians. This can be traced to the activities of our ancestors whose practice of traditional religion involved a lot of midnight rituals. Pentecostal Christianity has simply taken over this practice in order mainly to tackle supposed enemies in the thick of the night. The efficacy of prayer however does not depend on the timing (i.e day or night) or on the duration but on the earnestness and purity of the volition.
Christ clearly advised against using many words in prayer which is the practice at vigils where the same request has to be repeated over and over and using various expressions as if the answer depends on the volume of words used and the length of time spent.
Also, most of the prayers said at these pentecostal vigils are actually curse directed at perceived enemies whereas Christ advised: “love your enemies, pray for them”. The natural order of life as programmed by the Creator Himself requires that man rests during the night. Any refusal to comply with this is unnatural and will have telling effects on the physical body. If however an individual cannot achieve the necessary concentration and earnestness in prayer during the day and can do so only in the night, then he may do as suits him. He should however not disturb others in the process and he need not stay up for too long as a few seconds of earnest prayer is more vital than endless hours of vigil.
Through the Grail Message, we now know that moments of deep sorrow and moments of great joy present an opportunity for our intuitive perception to link up with the purity of paradise. These moments should not pass us by without an intuitive prayer which does not even require words but only a few seconds of inner composure.
The Grail Message also reveals that our prayers should comprise mainly of thanksgiving because in the completeness of the Work of Creation the Lord has already given us all that we may ever need long before we came to this earth. Our requests do not even get to Him before they are answered by the numerous visible/invisible helpers around us. Only our thanksgiving, our gratitude, only that reaches to the steps of His Throne.
No creature can appropriate thanksgiving. Even when it is directed to a creature be it a man or a being, it rises further, upwards. All thanks belong to God only and this we should give at all times, in thoughts, words and deeds.

Commentary
Matthew Henry Commentary
4:7-16 Unto every believer is given some gift of grace, for their mutual help. All is given as seems best to Christ to bestow upon every one. He received for them, that he might give to them, a large measure of gifts and graces; particularly the gift of the Holy Ghost. Not a mere head knowledge, or bare acknowledging Christ to be the Son of God, but such as brings trust and obedience. There is a fulness in Christ, and a measure of that fulness given in the counsel of God to every believer; but we never come to the perfect measure till we come to heaven. God's children are growing, as long as they are in this world; and the Christian's growth tends to the glory of Christ. The more a man finds himself drawn out to improve in his station, and according to his measure, all that he has received, to the spiritual good of others, he may the more certainly believe that he has the grace of sincere love and charity rooted in his heart.
