Friendship-West Baptist Church Healthcare Ministry

The Healthcare community makes a difference in the community as well as serving each Sunday at both services.

The pastoral care needs of the church are sentiments found in Paul’s letter to Corinth, but continue to prove true to the 21st century church of today. We are all a part of the body of Christ and we are as strong as the one who needs us and equipped to reach out in a more comprehensive way collectively.

The Healthcare community makes a difference in the community as well as serving each Sunday at both services. They are the contact ministry for the pastoral care hotline. They compile the weekly Pastoral Care list and make the initial call to the bereavement ministry upon the death of members. They designate team members to visit those who are hospitalized, coordinate support for funerals held at FWBC, and serve throughout the community at many health fairs and other community events. Many highlights have occurred within this community such as Health screenings every 3rd Sundays; mammograms in February; and VITAS training for end-of-life care.

One of the most important defenses you may utilize against the Coronavirus is frequent hand washing. The Friendship-West Baptist Church Healthcare Ministry hopes the hand washing chart below is helpful to you.

[02/15/20]   Your number one priority should be keeping a regular check on your body's vital signs. Why? I'm glad you asked. Vital Signs gives one a baseline on when a patient is healthy compared to one that is not. Vital Signs determine which treatment protocols to follow, provide critical information needed to make life-saving decisions and/or to confirm treatment needed.

Friendship-West Baptist Church Healthcare Ministry offers free Healthcare Screenings every 3rd Sunday after each service. We invite you to stop by and get your vital signs checked.

Please make plans to attend.

October is Domestic Violence Month
The impact of domestic violence and abuse on women’s mental health is as bad as the physical abuse. Some women described how the depression and anxiety they experienced carried on after leaving the relationship. Sometimes, they were not always sure at first what was wrong with them.

Penny, described herself as feeling: ‘So crap I kept bursting into tears. …And not sleeping, waking up at three o’clock with scrambled egg brain. And I was just a wreck really. I just, yeah, I was bursting into tears all the time.’

If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence I encourage you to join the conversation and attend this program. It is free and open to the public.
