The Catholic Foundation

As we shelter in place as a society, our president and CEO Matt Kramer offers good news about millions of dollars in grants that are being provided to Dallas-area Catholic churches and schools and other non-profit organizations.

Together, we form a strong foundation.

CCD has adapted its educational program to ensure we provide critical early childhood education and supports to our families while they can't be in our classrooms on a daily basis.

Last week, our Together We Learn staff distributed food to 127 families and handed out 65 take-home learning packets (see below for our kiddos learning at home!).

Going forward, our teachers will post weekly instructional videos and continue to give out weekly educational lessons along with food and diaper distribution.

If you would like to help in these efforts, please go to:

We continue to answer the call to those in need. Yesterday alone, we distributed food to nearly 1,000 families through our reconfigured "drive-through" food pantries. For some families, this is their only access to food, especially for those who have lost a job and have little savings.

Since March 18th, we have served 2,731 families and 13,000 individuals, distributing 113,000 pounds of food, which represents 94,073 meals. In addition to providing the staples, fresh fruit and veggies, meat, eggs and milk, we offer families a smile, a kind word and a sense of community and belonging.

Thank you to our CCD staff, friends and volunteers who showed up for today's blood drive, courtesy of Carter BloodCare.

With the need for donations rising as many limit or cancel blood drives, we were proud to answer the call, while taking every precaution to protect all who participated.

Carter BloodCare needs 700 donors each day to meet local patients' needs, especially in the face of COVID-19. If you want to help, you can make an appointment at or call 800-366-2834. (Blood donation is a necessary service, so Carter BloodCare facilities will remain open.)

ANSWERING THE CALL: CCD is responding to the extraordinary community need stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic, and we need your support today.

Already, we have distributed 30,720 lbs. of food to 400+ families in need, more than 100 homebound seniors, and over 70 of our residents at St. Jude Center.

We are delivering food directly to low-income elderly, as well as operating our two mobile community pantries and several drive-through food pantries to minimize the risk to those in need, our staff and our volunteers.

If you would like to support our efforts in helping those in need, please go to:

A heartfelt THANK YOU to 8th grade artist, Caitlin, who with her friends created this beautiful 10’ x 6’ wall hanging. Caitlin was adopted by her parents through Catholic Charities; her father was also a Catholic Charities’ adoptee.

We are so inspired by Caitlin’s desire to give back – and her incredible talent!

We will proudly hang this piece of art, which she modeled after the beautiful wall murals in Bishop Arts, on the 2nd floor of our Central Service Center. It will serve as a beacon of hope and joyful welcome to our Immigration & Legal Services clients.

Thank you to all who donated in support of this important initiative. #dallastornadoes #notforgotten #givingback #startingover

Our Mobile Community Pantries have been on the road, delivering fresh, healthy foods to "food desert" communities throughout North Texas since September.

Already to date, we have provided produce, meat and dairy to over 6,500 families, distributing 424,000 pounds of food, at 25 locations. We will expand our efforts to include Corsicana and Whitesboro in the coming months.

Special thanks to our amazing army of volunteers who makes our work possible.

Looking forward to seeing everyone Saturday for a great celebration and a great night of giving....

Only four days until the "Empress of Soul," Gladys Knight, hits the stage at the #2020BishopsGala.

"I Heard it Through the Grapevine" that it will be a spectacular show, so don't take the "Midnight Train to Georgia," come join us instead at the Hilton Anatole on Saturday night!

What a night it will be! Big board auction items, a wine pull, live auction extravaganza, raffle drawing, "Heads or Tails" competition and a "Meet the Need" appeal.

The gala is our largest fundraiser of the year and helps fund programs that address poverty, alleviate hunger, house the homeless, provide relief in the wake of disasters (including the Oct. 20 tornadoes in Dallas) and ensure access to high-quality early childhood education.

We are grateful to the many donors and community organizations that have partnered with us in providing emergency financial assistance, furniture and household items, and toys and gifts for children for the holidays. A special thank you to Santa Claus, and all of the wonderful volunteers (and staff) who joined in on the holiday party at Brady Senior Center last Friday. Our team works hard every day to make sure low-income seniors in our community are more engaged and healthy - socially, physically and emotionally - and have the tools and resources to live independently. This show of support from the community is priceless and helps our seniors feel less isolated, especially during the holiday season.

Catholic Charities Dallas

We are blessed by the support of the larger community, which came together to help the 104 residents at our St. Jude Center celebrate Thanksgiving, many for the first time. St. Jude provides a warm, welcoming, safe community for chronically homeless seniors. To say that our residents were filled with gratitude is an understatement.

Thank you to the 56 volunteers that gave up their personal time and holiday to be with our residents and stand in as their collective family. Many commented that they couldn't remember the last time (if ever) they shared a Thanksgiving meal with family on Thanksgiving Day.
