We appreciate everyone who was involved in making Fast-a-thon happen including all of the exec board and volunteers as well as Dr. Bilal and Zeeshan Parupia, who provided a beautiful Quranic recitation and tafsir.
There is still time to donate to ICNA Relief’s Iftar Program (via Venmo or Launchgood) this Ramadan!

We had to end off #MSAMemberMondays this semester with none other than Courtney!
•••
Salam everyone! My name is Courtney Jackson. I am currently a freshman majoring in Mechanical Engineering. Outside of MSA, I am currently involved in NSBE, MHPS Commons, and Program Council. My favorite part about MSA is all of the wonderful, kind and genuine people in the organization. A fun fact about me is that I did gymnastics when I younger.

#MSAMondaysMondays are back with the one and only Sereen!

Hi, I’m Sereen Hamideh! I’m a Palestinian-American freshman majoring in Journalism and Creative Computation with a minor in History and Japanese! I immediately joined MSA when I tranferred and it was one of the best decisions I made! I love how open and accepting everyone was and how involved you get with your community and religion! A fun fact about me - I am working on writing a book, namely writing fantasy and hoping to get published one day!

Salaam Everyone! I am Dr.Bilal Sert, the Muslim Chaplain to the University. I feel privileged because of working with my kind, helpful, and open-minded colleagues, Lisa, Heidi, Veronica, and Tyler. MSA has been doing a great job as usual despite all the difficulties that we all have experienced last year. I am so happy since Muslim Students have always made me part of their great programs and activities. We have shared so many good memories that I will never forget. I would like to thank MSA and all Muslim Mustangs for making everything so easier and enjoyable for me.

Asalamualaykum everyone! My name is Hussain Saleem and I am a senior majoring in Economics with Finance Applications. I had the privilege of serving my second term as the President of the MSA this year. Alhamdullilah, despite the unpredictable circumstances, we had an incredible year and I want to give all the credit to our board. I was very lucky to have such a hardworking and dedicated team, every single person exceeded my expectations and did more than what was asked of them, and I’m very grateful to have just been apart of it. MSA has been one of the highlights of my time at SMU these past few years and I’m forever thankful for all of the memories that I’ve made. Although I am graduating, please always feel free to reach out to me for anything, whether it’s MSA related or not. I’m very excited to see what the future holds for you all inshaAllah

Assalamu alaikum everyone! I’m Ammaar and I had the pleasure of being this year’s Vice-President. After being part of the SMU MSA for almost four years, I can honestly the SMU MSA has been a life-changing experience and I will really miss this organization, Dr. Bilal and most of the members (you know who you are) when I’m gone.

I’m really proud to have been part of a board this year that helped organize so many amazing events. Through the barakah and the blessings of Allah, we were able to organize many beneficial events including a Q&A with Biden’s Muslim Advisor Farooq Mitha, weekly general body meetings + Jummah, Islam awareness week, socials like our late night among us sessions, charity food drives, and the beneficial halaqas with amazing speakers like Mikaeel Smith,Sarah Sultan, Shaykh Yasir Qadhi, and Ustadh Safi. We are also planning for some more awesome events for Ramadan, so stay tuned for updates on taraweeh, halaqas, and maybe even MSA-funded Iftars. Although we accomplished a lot this year, I’m fully confident in the incredible exec members that will lead the MSA next year to learn from the mistakes and successes of this year to further raise the bar and truly make the SMU MSA one of the greatest MSAs in Texas.

As-salaamu-alaikum everyone! I’m Amber Siddiqui and I am a sophomore studying Biology and Human Rights. MSA is much more than a giant group of amazing friends to me, but it is my conclusion to every week and gateway to my little slice of peace in life. I had the pleasure of serving as y’all’s 2020-2021 Secretary and had an amazing time doing so! This year was absolutely phenomenal and the involvement we had from everyone was so much more than I could ever ask for, even without a global pandemic! There is no group I would rather fall asleep while playing Among Us at 4 AM with ❤️

My name is Shayzal Siddiqui and I’m a junior majoring in Biology and Health & Society. I’ve made some lifelong friendships and memories at SMU and I owe that to MSA. MSA has helped me expand my religious knowledge and challenge my viewpoints through Halaqas and discussions. I’m grateful to be part of such a supportive community and I hope that we continue to make this organization a safe haven for Muslims. Feel free to reach out to me with any questions! (Also, come to Jummah for a mind blowing experience MSA has to offer)
