Happy 1st Birthday to The Grove Church! Wonderful service and celebration today -
Great day at church today at the Grove. Such a welcoming group of people and the absolute best worship team. We are so blessed to have such a great place for community and worship right here in our back yard in North Dallas.
Y’all - come on and get some grub!!
Come for the sermon, stay because you were pulled into (see what I did there) a discussion on Astrophysics, courtesy of Stephen Loehofer. 🧐😙😉
How about this, The Grove?
Who did it better?
Quick question, what time is Dinner with Friends next week, and how do we RSVP?

A new neighborhood church in North Dallas. Our hope at The Grove is to be a place where you find purpose, meaning, and opportunities to connect with other people just like you who are trying to navigate this thing called life.

Why does God allow bad things to happen?

How often have you asked this question? A global pandemic, economic downturn, and a mounting death toll - it's difficult to reconcile what we see and what we believe about God.

Our logic tells us if God is good, then he wouldn't let bad things happen. But bad things do happen. So what does this mean?

Let's look at this question and discover how to grow your faith even in the worst of times.

How often have you asked this question? It's one I hear or bump up against daily. A global pandemic, economic downturn, and a mounting death toll - it's difficult to reconcile what we see and what we believe about God.

“It is when you have left, or are about to leave, the tried and true, but have not yet been able to replace it with anything else. It is when you are between your old comfort zone and any possible new answer. If you are not trained in how to hold anxiety, how to live with ambiguity, how to entrust and wait, you will run...anything to flee this terrible cloud of unknowing." -Richard Rohr

We can’t wait for y’all to join us tonight! Read this quick message from Allie and join us at 8pm:

The Bible is, at best, a confusing thing. It is foreign and ancient. It has stories of genocide alongside stories of miracles. The list of its contradictions is exhaustive.

I didn't come to love the Bible until recently, until someone showed me how I could read the Bible and still use my whole brain. Since then, the Bible has become a true source of revelation for me and a cornerstone in my understanding of who God is.

If the Bible has ever stumped you, if you ever been frustrated with it or even maybe embarrassed to start, join me for a 6-week online Bible study: How to Read the Bible starting this Wednesday at 8pm. Visit grove.org/connect/adults for Zoom link or message me. All are welcome.

We don’t do well when a threat is uncertain. That is where we are all at right now. So how do we learn to adapt? Hint: It’s definitely not through a Magic 8 Ball.

Ever tried to read the Bible and got stuck? Ever struggled to make sense of stories about burning bushes or talking donkeys (yes, they do exist in the Bible)?

Many families in our community do not have access to food. We as a church family wanted to help make a difference. So we started out by giving over 3000 meals in two weeks with the help of all of you! But as this crisis continues, so does the need for more food.

We are so excited to share the results of what we were able to raise together for the Crisis Relief Fund to help families in need. Watch this short video to find out!

Share your answer in the comments below and let’s encourage one another to take the step! 🤍🤍🤍

We sure do miss this! But we are so grateful to still be able to gather in a new way. Even though we can’t physically be together this morning, we can still join in worship together, Online! 📲

[04/19/20]   This week we start a new series on Exodus. Maybe it's been a while since you've read this story in your Bible, but it's the perfect story for us right now. Exodus is the story of God drawing his people out into the wilderness, into the uncertainty and the unknown, to draw them into a relationship with Him. And I think God is doing this same thing with us right now, too.

Invite a friend to join you online!

Take some time this morning to worship with Stevie, from our worship team, as she sings through a song called Peace by @youngandfree 🎹

Do you feel lost right now? Unsure of what you're doing, why this is happening, or when any of this will be over? Yeah, me too.

@stephenlohoefer

P.S. This Sunday, we will announce how much we’ve raised for crisis relief. If you haven’t given, there’s still time to give before Sunday’s announcement!

The story of Exodus isn't just a story about some people a long time ago in a land far away; Exodus is our story too. It's the story of God drawing us out to draw us in. He draws us out into the wilderness, into the uncertainty and the unknown, to draw us into relationship with Him. What if this wilderness we are experiencing right now is exactly where God wants us to be? What if God is using this to make us into the people He called us to be?

Join us for this new series starting Sunday, at 10am on Facebook Live or at grove.org. 📲

What does that look like for you today? What thing do you need God’s strength to accomplish or endure?

We are lifting up a prayer for you right now that you will feel the Lord’s strength during this time, and that you will not be afraid, because you truly can do ALL things through Christ who gives you strength. ❤️

These are unusual and stressful times. Many people have lost hope. How does the story of Easter relate to us today? Catch up on the full message from Easter Sunday at grove.org or on your podcast app!

We’re so excited to announce our new devotional series called “A New Day” with Allie. Each morning at 7am, Allie will be hopping on IG LIVE to spend some time with y’all and talk about this new season after Easter.
.
Here’s a note from Allie:
Yesterday, we entered a new 40-day season called Eastertide. During Eastertide, we celebrate new things-- new life, new movements, new birth.
At first, it didn't feel right to start Eastertide in the middle of this-- when it still feels like physically we're living through a very old, sad thing. But then, it dawned on me- one day, we will open our doors and get into our cars and drive to work and we will, in fact, start a new thing.
On that day, I want to be prepared. After all this is said and done, I want a new life. I want something different than what I had before. A version that shows I've come out the other side a little kinder, a little gentler, a little more generous.
Starting on Tuesday at 7am, I'll be leading short daily devotionals on Instagram Live @grovechurchdallas to help myself do just that. I'd love for you to join me there, whether you're a church person or not, whether you call The Grove Church home or not. It's a place for all of us to check-in with ourselves and prepare for the new thing that is coming.
"I am creating something new. There it is! Do you see it? I have put roads in deserts, streams in thirsty lands." -Isaiah 43:19
See you there!

Happy Easter friends! He is risen indeed! We were so glad to be able to celebrate Easter with y’all online this morning. Thank you to all who tuned in!
.
We sure did miss seeing all of your bright, smiling faces walking through these doors though. Although Easter didn’t turn out the way we had planned, it was just as it should be and we are so glad that Easter can’t be skipped - no matter the circumstances.
.
We hope these photos from last year make you smile and remember all the good times we have had together as a church family, and all of the good times to come! 🤍🙏🏼 @ The Grove Church

A note from Stephen: The app on my phone I use most is Reminders. Reminders allows you to set a, wait for it, reminder to notify you of whatever you choose at whenever time you select. I use it often because I constantly forget to do things I meant to do, e.g., schedule that meeting, return that phone call, feed the dog. (Kidding, Sadie always gets fed.)

Maybe you're old school and do this the analog way, leaving post-it notes stuck around the house, or creating a centrally located notepad or corkboard that serves the same goal. Either way, we all need help remembering the important things we forget.

The same is true when it comes to our faith- we forget what we should remember. And so the church's solution to our forgetfulness was to create a calendar that celebrated these important stories and truths. This calendar is how we get Holy Week. It is the week that recalls Jesus' final days, his last words, his crucifixion and death, and ultimately his resurrection.

So, over the next couple of days, we have a chance to celebrate the most important story and the most important truth ever. I want you to set a reminder and join us for our Good Friday and Easter services.
