July 16-20, 2014 - The Inklings Conference with special guest Dr. Peter Kreeft

Mission: Through worship, prayer, teaching, practical instruction, and fellowship, we seek to form the essentials of the Anglican Way in young adults, that they might mature and be equipped to disciple the nations according to Jesus' Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20).

[03/11/16]   A Message from Bishop Sutton:

Greetings in the Name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

The Anglican Way Conference is a conference for college and career age folks that teaches the Anglican Way of serving Christ and its worldview.

I have known for years that Generation X, Y, Z, and Millennial, as they are called, have been turning more and more to things traditional, historical, and even the mystery of the ancient liturgies. I also realize that the Christian school movements in this country, dating back to the 1950s, has produced an entire generation of young Christians interested in things classical, including Anglicanism. Among evangelical and independent Christians, believe it or not, there has been a liturgical movement among their groups for over 35 years.

It took a while for me to become convinced of the need of such a conference, even with all of the above evidence pointing to the value for some kind of focused meeting. It was an interview on one of the news channels that pushed me over. Some fellow was being interviewed about religion in America. One of the other guests mentioned in passing how different the Princeton University campus is today. He commented that something is happening. He graduated back in the 1960s (obviously a baby boomer). But he noted that at the present time the students at his alma mater seem to be more conservative. Then he indicated something that took me back a bit. He reported of a Bible study that meets weekly on campus with over 100 students in attendance. As I recall he offered finally something to the effect, “That never happened in my day.”

Could we be in the beginning stages of a spiritual awakening in this country? Possibly. More than ever, the line in the sand is being marked out in this culture along secular and Gospel lines. Our educational institutions are growing ever hostile to our Christian heritage. The importance of traditional Anglican teaching is at a critical juncture for the future leaders of the Anglican Way.

We therefore invite all of our Anglican priests and laity to bring their college and career age parishioners and friends to the conference. If the great tradition of worshipping, living for and following Christ in the Anglican Way is to continue into the next generation, we must reach those who will be raising families.

We look forward to seeing you at Church of the Holy Communion next summer!

Blessings,The Rt. Rev. Ray R. Sutton, PhD
