While the show is virtual, the artwork will be hung in the Gallery to provide a true Goodrich Gallery experience. Artwork is due by Saturday, Jan. 30 and members of all ages are invited to participate. To submit your work, please use the form below. Thank you in advance for sharing the joy of art with our congregation and beyond! For additional questions, please contact Susan McIntyre.

Gallery hours are Sunday - Friday, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Saturday, 8 a.m. - Noon. Call Music and Arts, 214-220-2727, ext. 218. The Goodrich Gallery, located inside First United Methodist Church of Dallas, has exhibited painting, sculpture, photography, mixed media, and historical presentations featuring outstanding artist from the Southwest.

The Gallery is committed to presenting the finest in art while also exhibiting works expressing religious themes and social awareness. Gallery Hall opened in 1964 with it's first exhibit in April of that year. In 1973, courtesy of a gift from Beverly & Ben Harris, the space was redesigned and renamed The Goodrich Gallery in honor of the then Senior Minister Dr. Robert E. Goodrich, Jr. and his wife Thelma, both of whom were patrons of the arts. The gallery continues to provide a place of inspiration and enrichment for the members and guests of First United Methodist Church of Dallas with its rich variety of monthly exhibits by gifted local artists. Receptions for the artist of the month are generally held on the first Sunday of each month from Noon to 2 p.m.

STEWPOT ARTISTS’ STATEMENTS

Charles William ~
My higher power is my inspiration, working for him. Having been given the gift to express art...to educate and to share the light to those in the dark. The art program at the Stewpot provides all necessary means- the supplies and the choir. “To come and do and be done. Talents are hard.”

Stephen Kehr ~
My inspiration are the art teachers of the past. I went to the YWCA and took an art class with a really fun teacher. Everyone was really nice and that is why I like to paint. The Stewpot program is helping me because I am homeless and I get to put my art up to sell- it’s really nice to put my work in the shows.

Charles Piano ~
Inspiration of making blankets because it is a dying art. I use fresh patterns, fabric, and colors to liven up old ideas- to make something old new again. The program gives me the space and supplies, but also gives the opportunity to sell my art and to improve my life by receiving money for my work.

Fernando Segovia ~
Inspiration is my wife and children and the memories and experiences. I use my art to feel good- my hands, my body, and the awareness of looking for perfection. The program is important for survival and to help a human with resources. It brings a little to my life, a big solution for the homeless.
