Just Mercy Virtual Reflection and Discussion

Anti-racism work takes many forms — education is one of them.

As our nation responds to the racially-motivated killings of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and countless other black men and women, we are called to deepen our understanding of the racism endemic to our systems and structures, including our system of capital punishment.

For this reason, Warner Bros. Pictures has made the award-winning Just Mercy movie FREE for online streaming throughout the month of June across all digital renting platforms. Based on the bestselling memoir by Bryan Stevenson, Just Mercy tells the true story of Walter McMillian, a black man wrongfully convicted and sentenced to death in Alabama in 1988. A list of platforms that offer the movie for free can be found at https://www.justmercyfilm.com/?eType=EmailBlastContent&eId=1d027a30-30c8-4d34-97fe-a9d06c77be81.

If you can commit to watching the film in the next two days (or if you have already seen it), we invite you to join us on Thursday, June 18th for a CMN Just Mercy Virtual Reflection and Discussion via Zoom. To reserve a spot for the Zoom meeting, visit https://catholicsmobilizing.org/event/just-mercy-virtual-reflection-and-discussion?eType=EmailBlastContent&eId=1d027a30-30c8-4d34-97fe-a9d06c77be81.

catholicsmobilizing.org CMN invites you to participate in a communal reflection on the story of Bryan Stevenson and Walter McMillian as told in the film Just Mercy, and explore ways to dismantle racism in our systems and structures—and within ourselves.

[06/16/20]   Daily Mass will be held in the gym today at 12:10 pm.

[05/26/20]   Daily Masses resume at Holy Trinity today at 12:10 pm. If you plan on attending, we ask you to be considerate of others in attendance in several ways. Please review the following information before your arrival to our church.

1. In order to comply with social distancing and capacity guidelines, Holy Trinity only has 50 "spaces" available in the church. The church has blue tape on the pews marking where you are able to sit. Please sit ONLY where there is a marker. Each space can accommodate two people ONLY if those two people are from the same household.

2. Even if you love to attend Mass every day, we ask you to consider postponing your return to daily Mass until later in the week. We also ask that you not attend Mass every day for the time being.

3. We request and encourage seniors and other medically vulnerable parishioners to continue to stay home.

4. When you do attend Mass, please enter using only the patio door.

5. Be prepared to follow instructions to maintain safe distance before, during and after Mass.

6. Holy Trinity currently requires all visitors to wear a mask to protect your health and the health of others.

7. There will be brief instructions on how to manage your mask while receiving communion. Please listen to and follow these instructions closely, it is for the safety of all present.

8. The church is sanitized daily to prevent the spread of illness. However, if you have any signs of illness or underlying medical conditions, we recommend that you not enter church.

Above all, please remember that this is new to all of us and a little grace will go a long way during this process. Thank you for your desire to return to the Eucharist, communion and your care for our parish community!

Catholic Diocese of Dallas

Please view the video message from Bishop Burns about the second of phase of his four-phase plan.

VIDEO: Announcement from Bishop Edward J. Burns - Phase Two of Reopening Plan

During Phase One, the diocese began taking the first steps towards opening our churches again to the faithful with the celebrations of the sacraments for individuals and families, such as confessions, baptisms, weddings, funerals, and welcoming people into the Church through the Easter Sacraments. Now with Phase Two, we will allow the celebration of weekday Masses for parishes in our diocese beginning Tuesday, May 26th.

View full decree at https://www.cathdal.org/news-article?r=1UI71QHLTB&send_to=%2Fnews.

Daily Masses at Holy Trinity will resume NEXT TUESDAY, MAY 26th at 12:10 pm.

While daily Masses are allowed to resume in the Diocese of Dallas, they are currently restricted to 25% capacity of the church and requires social distancing of six feet.

If you plan on attending a daily Mass or coming to prayer or confession, please read the following information:

In order to comply with capacity and social distancing requirements, Holy Trinity only has 50 spaces available during Mass. Each space can accomodate two people ONLY if those two people are from the same household. Currently, there is room for two people of the same household to sit together and keep social distance from others. If your household has more than two members, you will not be able to sit together due to restrictions.

The church has markers placed six feet apart in order to abide with social distancing guidelines. We ask that you ONLY sit in a place where there is a marker.

You must wear a mask to enter the church. If you do not have a mask, you will not be permitted in the building. Your mask must stay on for you to remain in the building. Instructions for participating in communion in a safe and physically distant manner will be given during Mass.

The church will be sanitized daily. This process will keep our church clean and safe for all visitors.

As the most vulnerable of our population, if you are 65 or older, we recommend that you continue to abide by the shelter in place order and do not enter the church.

If you have questions regarding sacraments, including wedding and baptisms, when they can be celebrated and current policies or regulations, please call our main office line at 214-526-8555.

PRAYER & CONFESSIONS

On April 30th, Bishop Burns with the Diocese of Dallas announced a four-phase plan for parishes to return to Mass and receive other sacraments. Phase I of the plan includes opening churches for prayer and receiving limited sacraments. To read the Bishop's entire decree, visit https://www.cathdal.org/DECREE_04292020.pdf.

On Sunday, May 3rd, Fr. Milton announced Holy Trinity's plan for Phase I of the Bishop's plan and will be opening the church for daily prayer and confessions. The health and safety of our parishioners and visitors is still our primary priority. Before coming to the church, please read the following information.

DAILY PRAYER HOURS
Monday through Friday from 10 am - 4 pm in the Church

DAILY CONFESSIONS
Monday through Saturday at 11:30 am in the Church

2. 1. You must wear a mask to enter the church. If you do not have a mask, you will not be permitted in the building. If your mask does not remain on while in the church, you will be asked to leave.

3. The church will be sanitized after it closes for the day. This process will keep our church clean and safe for all visitors.

4. As the most vulnerable of our population, if you are 65 or older, we recommend that you continue to abide by the shelter in place order and do not enter the church or receive confession.
5. The church will have markers placed six feet apart in order to abide with social distancing guidelines. We ask that you ONLY sit in a place where there is a marker. If you are coming to the church with another member of your family, our request is that you still abide by social distancing guidelines.

At this time, Holy Trinity has not scheduled any sacraments. We will send additional updates on the availability of sacraments at a later date.

CELEBRATION OF MASS

The Bishop confirmed that currently Sunday Masses will be Livestream ONLY. At this time, Holy Trinity anticipates that, if the number of positive COVID cases drops, the faithful will be able to return to Mass the weekend of May 23rd and May 24th. For the safety of all in attendance, the church will be following the governor's order that only allows 25 percent capacity of a building. If you are planning to attend Mass, please read the following:

1. When abiding by current social distancing and capacity orders, Holy Trinity is only able to seat approximately 100 people for each Mass, which means we will not be able to accommodate all of our parishioners. There will be additional Masses running concurrently in the gym, but with social distancing the gym will seat only approximately 80 people.

2. As the most vulnerable of our population, if you are 65 or older, we recommend that you continue to abide by the shelter in place order and DO NOT attend Mass.

3. It is important to remember that if you are not able to attend Mass, a dispensation is still in effect and your weekly obligation does not currently apply.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The return to the faithful at Mass is an estimate only and this declaration may be modified or cancelled at any time.

Update on reopening Holy Trinity

On April 30th, Bishop Burns with the Diocese of Dallas announced a four-phase plan for parishes to return to Mass and receiving other sacraments. The Bishop confirmed that Sunday Masses will be Livestream ONLY until at least May 17th. The process to reopen churches to the faithful requires a thoughtful approach, which keeps the safety and well-being of parishioners and visitors at the forefront. At Holy Trinity, we are in the process of developing a plan to reopen and we appreciate your patience as we navigate a unique situation. Additional information will be posted to our website and our page as it becomes available. To read the Bishop's entire decree, visit https://www.cathdal.org/DECREE_04292020.pdf.
