“Then will the lame leap like a deer and the mute tongue shout for joy. Water will gush forth in the wilderness and streams in the desert. The burning sand will become a cool oasis, the thirsty ground bubbling springs. In the haunts where jackals once lay, grass and reeds and papyrus will grow.” Is. 35:6- 7 The biblical background for Oasis reflects how Oasis has been and will continue to be a source of help to many. Oasis introduces needy people to the Agape medical clinic which serves the uninsured, legal clinic services for those who need help with legal matters, Alley’s house for teenage mothers, and Open Door Preschool for early learning - all important oppotunities to introduce Jesus the Christ to everyone. As the children of Israel wandered in the wilderness, places with an Oasis meant resources for LIFE. Oasis Global Mission leads individuals to wholeness, quenches the spiritual, emotional , social and physical needs of individuals and families; addresses homelessness, abuse, poverty, and the challenges of African immigrants and refugees. SPIRITUAL: We connect people to that love of Jesus the Christ by offering Bible study, home fellowship and a worship services. Knowing that someone somewhere loves and cares, gives individual person’s life that was lost, as they maneuvered their way to the United State or their way from long imprisonment. As we minister to broken souls, we have experienced lives being changed and transformed by the spirit of the living God. EMOTIONAL: We help individuals that are homeless join different recovery groups, and follow-up with them weekly. Oasis offers help to reconnect them with their families, help them connect with others who have gone through recovery to share their experience, and to connect with new friends. We help immigrants and refugees connect with others who have settled into American life in order to guide them and mentor them, helping them cope with culture shock as they learn to live in the Dallas area. SOCIAL: Oasis Global exercises Ubuntu, explained by Arch Bishop Desmond Tutu as “I am because we are and we are because I am.” We connect with each other and work together, promoting the skills and talents of each individual, enabling each of us to thrive in this country. A Kenyan proverb states “One finger cannot kill a bedbug.” Our survival depends on our inherent relation with others. All of our relationships, experiences, and learned behaviors shape our identities. PHYSICAL: We help people that are struggling with addiction connect with a long-term solutions that will guide them toward recovery with the goal of independence, stable housing, jobs. We guide them to the use of resources like Agape health clinic, the legal clinic, and City Square for food, furniture and shelter. We guide immigrants as they get settled in their new Dallas home by directing them where to get clothing and furniture assistance, and connect them to job opportunity agencies.
Mission: Oasis Global Mission welcomes the many African immigrants that have chosen Dallas as their new home. Embracing both individuals and families into the fellowship, Oasis provides fellowship and mentors to those assimilating into American life. The support we offer is physical, emotional and spiritual. Everyone is welcome to celebrate in worship with us!
