[03/14/21]   On March 14, 1921 in a small rural community called Lincoln Manor, a small group of people had a dream. A dream to organize and build a church. This dream became a reality after they came together and prayed. Their prayer became their spiritual foundation. A foundation of hard work, perseverance, and unwavering faith. A faith that said until we get a church, we will not give up. With donations from the community, the members met after work and began their labor of love. The women brought food and held lanterns for hours so that the men would have light to see. That labor of love became a 30X20 framed building that eventually had running water, electricity, and a bell in the church steeple that rang every Sunday to begin morning devotion. This building became the members sanctuary for many years.

In 1947 the building we now sit in was erected and again the members came after work bringing their families to assist. The women no longer had to hold lanterns, but they still brought plenty of food, water and encouragement. The children of Morning Star did their part too. Under the leadership of Rev. H.D. Gill, the children came on Saturdays to clean and stack bricks so that the men would have them to start their work on Monday.

Throughout the intervening years, the members of Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church and their families continued to restore and make improvements. In 1971, the church was vandalized and a portion of the interior along with new furniture was burned but that did not deter the members. They took their legacy of hard work, prayer and faith and continued.

Eventually year by year, a new pulpit was added, along with carpet, central air and heat, a new roof, dining room, bathroom, kitchen, and so much more until they heard the triumphant word of paid in full. In 2006, Morning Star underwent additional renovations.
Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church is not just a building but a symbol. A symbol of faith that has carried its members through the Prohibition Era, The Great Depression, racism, civil rights, wars, the beginning of life and the end of life. Decades of memories are stored within the foundation of our hearts and all because of a small group of people who came together and lived the faith that they prayed.
When we think about the unfeigned faith that is in the members of Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church, which first dwelt in a small group of people who held their first service in a used tent, we humbly thank God for the teachings that were passed down from generation to generation that now lies within us.

Thanks to our ancestors, those faithful pioneers who stood tall and strong.

ALL THE GLORY BE TO GOD FOR 100 YEARS!

[03/14/21]   As a reminder, we will not have church physically tomorrow. The video will be uploaded before 11am.

[03/04/21]   On Tuesday, Gov. Greg Abbott issued Executive Order GA-34, which, effective Wednesday, March 10, will lift all COVID-19-related restrictions on businesses and the statewide mask mandate.

However, in line with CDC guidance, all visitors and members will still be required to wear a mask inside the church.

With a handful of new COVID-19 variants quickly spreading across our communities, it’s all the more important you continue to:

Mask up
Distance from others
Practice hand hygiene

Let’s each do our part to protect each other and help stop the spread of COVID-19.

God bless you and see you Sunday.
