Mission: Making Disciples of Jesus Christ

[04/08/20]   Psalm 24: A psalm of David.

1 The earth and everything in it,
the world and its inhabitants,
belong to the Lord;†
2 for he laid its foundation on the seas
and established it on the rivers.†
3 Who may ascend the mountain of the Lord?
Who may stand in his holy place?†
4 The one who has clean hands and a pure heart,†
who has not appealed to† what is false,†
and who has not sworn deceitfully.
5 He will receive blessing from the Lord,†
and righteousness† from the God of his salvation.†
6 Such is the generation of those who inquire of him,
who seek the face of the God of Jacob.††
Selah

7 Lift up your heads, you gates!
Rise up, ancient doors!
Then the King of glory will come in.†
8 Who is this King of glory?
The Lord, strong and mighty,
the Lord, mighty in battle.†
9 Lift up your heads, you gates!
Rise up, ancient doors!
Then the King of glory will come in.
10 Who is he, this King of glory?
The Lord of Armies,
he is the King of glory.†
Selah

[02/28/20]   Inviting you and your family to join us in a six weeks series: Taste and See beginning coming Sunday.

[02/15/20]   “You are anxious and troubled about many things, but one thing is necessary.” Luke 10:41–42

Let’s be the kind of community that can encourage one another in love toward the one thing that matters most – an abiding relationship with Jesus Christ.

May the best team win! Jesus has won the battle for us. Walk in that victory!

Bible in One Year

It's not too late to start, or pick back up, new year's resolutions! Follow along with the The Bible in One Year reading plan that walks you through Scripture and helpful commentary along the way. Each day you will receive a Psalm or Proverbs reading, a New Testament reading, and an Old Testament reading. You can follow along in daily e-mails, in the Bible in One Year or Bible apps, or with a printed reading plan. Find out the best way for you to dive into God’s Word at hppres.org/bible.

hppres.org We know that reading scripture is the best way to learn about who Jesus is and to grow in our faith. But the Bible is a big book, and it can be overwhelming trying to figure out where to start reading. So where should we begin?

All Nations | Highland Park Pres.

Hello! We’re so grateful for your interest in Highland ParkPresbyterian Church. Whether you’re just passing by or looking for a church home, HPPres offers something for every walk of faith and every stage of life. Our mission here at HPPres - All Nations Ministry is to learn and share how the story of Jesus shapes lives. Through our worship service, small groups and community involvement, we strive to ensure that you and your loved ones experience the truth and love found in Jesus.
Join us every Sunday at 11:15am in the Alexander Building.

[01/05/20]   As we launch a new series this weekend, Next Door, we’re actually going to pick up right where we left off on Christmas Eve, with these words from John’s gospel (from Eugene Peterson’s The Message translation):

“The word became flesh, and moved into the neighborhood.”
Just as Jesus moved into our world, so we are invited to move into his. What is the next door God is inviting us through, as we move into our neighborhoods, into schools and workplaces, into this city and beyond, with the hope of Jesus?

On another note, Charles Duhigg, in his book The Power of Habit, talks about “keystone habits.” These are daily practices that over time have the power to transform lives, and can unleash change far greater than anyone ever thought a simple habit could hold.

In the life of a follower of Jesus, one of those keystone habits is reading Scripture. In the year ahead, I would love for all of us at Highland Park Pres to devote ourselves to this daily practice. We don’t need to be heroic about this, and we’re not earning anything by it. But engaging with God’s Word in a daily way is a grace that can transform your life.

If you’d like to join us (and my hope is that all of us would pursue this), take a moment to check out the Bible in One Year plan. If you have any questions about how to get started, or just want to speak with a pastor about resources to help you engage with the Bible, we’d love to grab coffee with you!

Hope to See You Sunday,

Bryan

[01/01/20]   Wishing everyone a Happy and Blessed New Year 2020.

2019 Lake Outreach

2019 Lake Outreach

There is nothing more personal than a handwritten letter. It is a uniquely customized message to you and speaks directly to who you are. In the beginning of the book of Revelation, God speaks directly to the church in seven unique letters. Our new sermon series "Dear Church" starts this Sunday and it will explore what the text DID mean to the original audience and what the text DOES mean to us today. We hope you can join us.

Another lake outreach event is upon us.

[08/10/19]   Over the last several weeks, we have been going through a Sermon series - Life Together in Jesus from the book of Ephesians. It has been a blessing to see how God has reconciled us to Himself through Christ and calls us to walk in a manner worthy of the calling. This coming Sunday we take a look at Ephesians 6:10 - "we do not wrestle against flesh and blood but against...the spiritual forces of evil". We will reflect on what Christ has done to defeat the enemy and how the indwelling presence of Christ enables us to win this war. Hope you can join us!
