Pope Francis has urged Catholics everywhere to 'unite spiritually' in praying the Luminous Mysteries of the Rosary at 9PM (Italian time) on March 19, the feast of St. Joseph.
The rosary will be prayed for the special care and protection of our families, especially the sick and the people who are taking care of them: doctors, nurses, and volunteers, who risk their lives in this service.
Please join us Live at 3PM to pray together as a community and with Catholics all over the world!
Community members, students, and friends - In compliance with the City of Dallas directives and in conjunction with the Bishop's Decree, all Sunday Masses and daily Masses are suspended until March 30, 2020, in order to contain the spread of the Coronavirus. Please see smucatholic.org for more information.
Daily Mass is the greatest interruption to the hustle of your day. Daily Mass is usually only half an hour, and adding this to your weekly routine is a guaranteed moment of peace, prayer, the chance to be in the presence of the Lord, hear the Word of God, and to be surrounded by your faith community. We invite you to join us any day of the week Mon - Fri for Daily Mass.
Daily Mass Schedule at the Catholic Center in the Chapel of the Annunciation located on the 2nd floor:
Mon | Wed | Fri - 12:10PM
Tues | Thurs - 5:10PM
During the season of Lent, we will offer Stations of the Cross every Friday following the 12:10PM Mass. Join us in the Chapel of the Annunciation at the Catholic Center to walk through our Lord’s passion together.
We are only one week away from Ash Wednesday and the beginning of the Lenten Season. Join us for any of our four Ash Wednesday Services on February 26:

It’s been a week since our students, missionaries, and some of our staff went to @focuscatholic’s #SLS20 in Phoenix, AZ. We are so thankful for this five day conference that equipped us with the tools to share the love of Christ with others. All the speakers touched on this—how important it is to encounter Christ, to know Him, to receive His love, in order to go out and give Christ to others, to fulfill the Great Commission. “God draws close to man. He calls man to seek him, to know him, to love him with all his strength” (CCC 1).
We were made for mission. “Our mission is to give ourselves without holding anything back.” — Fr. Michael Gaitley on Day 5 of #SLS20
Meet Candice Mohapp for our last, but not least, meet our missionaries series. She grew up in St. Charles, Missouri and graduated from the University of Missouri with a degree in Chemical Engineering. In college, she was a member of Alpha Chi Omega and the Mizzou Club Softball team. Through an encounter with a FOCUS missionary, Candice discovered her desire to pursue Jesus with all her heart as well as a love of coffee. She is a big fan of reading books, playing outside, and general adventuring. She believes God can be found in all things, especially in good conversations and in laughter.
IT’S ABOUT TO GET UGLY PEOPLE. SMUCUS (SMU Ugly Christmas Sweater) is tomorrow, Dec 4, at 7PM at the Catholic Center! Join us for games, giveaways, and general Christmas hoopla. There will be sweet treats and heavy apps. Ugly Christmas Sweater is highly encouraged, but not required.
We hope everyone had a wonderful thanksgiving with their families and loved ones! We are thankful for our whole SMU Catholic family—community members, students, staff, and their families. We are so thankful for the year we’ve had so far, especially seeing our students grow in love for their faith and their community. What are you thankful for?
Meet Russell Pier. He graduated from Texas A&M #gigem where he studied Computer Engineering. After a short career as a software developer, he became a FOCUS missionary. He is the first year on the SMU team. He loves to cook, to read, to learn new things, and loves spending time with his big Catholic family. Russell is so excited to preach the Gospel of Jesus to the students at SMU!
Let's break down the walls. Come encounter the Lord in the Blessed Sacrament and the Sacrament of Reconciliation during our special monthly night of worship - Jericho. Music led by Dave Moore @davemooremusic and a talk given by our former campus minister, @codybarras. We hope you join us tomorrow on Wed, November 20, at 7PM at the Catholic Center. Followed by the Thanksgiving Initiative at 8:30PM to assemble the winter care kits for the homeless. All are welcome!
This weekend was Mustang Awakening XII, and it was a blast! Thank you for all those who prayed for us, especially for the retreaters. Throughout the weekend, you could see friendships forming and our community strengthening. So much joy. Most importantly, it was clear that the retreaters were encountering Jesus. “Now this is eternal life, that they should know you, the only true God, and the one whom you sent, Jesus Christ.” John 17:3 // MAXII verse
As the cold weather descends, those who live on the streets depend on their sisters and brothers for greater assistance. The SMU Catholic Community is assembling winter emergency care kits for the homeless after Jericho on Wed, Nov 20, at the Catholic Center. All are invited to Jericho, which begins at 7PM. We will assemble care kits at 8:30PM. Our goal is to assemble 250 care kits of hats, gloves, emergency blankets, rain ponchos, and toiletries and give 5 care kits to each student. We will have them give the kits to the homeless they encounter here in Dallas or in their home cities if they are traveling for Thanksgiving. It is in this encounter with the homeless that our students gaze into the “face of Jesus.” Each of these kits cost $15. We offer many opportunities to give: direct cash donation by stopping at the baskets on your way out of Mass on Sun, Nov 17, checks made out to SMU Catholic, credit card by going on our website, or through Venmo (@smucatholic). Please give generously so that we may join in this season of “thanks and giving” and bring hope and comfort to those most in need. Join us in our Thanksgiving Initiative.
A few of our students went out to Memphis, TN this past weekend to support our Mustangs! They absolutely loved the memories they made together, especially for the seniors who went on the road trip. This weekend is SMU Homecoming. We are excited to spend time with everyone and all the alumni coming into town for the game and festivities! All our Sunday Masses on Nov 10—9AM, 5PM, and 8PM—will be Homecoming Masses. Tag a friend you want to go to the Homecoming game or a Homecoming Mass with! @ Memphis, Tennessee
One of the vital parts that makes SMU Catholic special for our students is the community. We invest time into building the community we have. We are hosting a FYSH (First Year Student Homes) Mixer at Bowlounge tomorrow, Wednesday, October 30! All first years are welcome to go bowling with us! We can’t wait. Meet at the Catholic Center at 5:30PM, then we’ll head to Bowlounge together. If you’re interested in attending, DM us so we can add you to the RSVP list.

We hope you join us this Wednesday, October 23, at 7PM at the Catholic Center for this month’s Jericho. We can’t wait to adore our Lord with you all!
Welcome back students! We hope you all had a restful Fall Break. We have a lot of happenings in the next few weeks, so it’s the perfect time to start our Meet The Missionaries series!
Meet Danna Knight. She’s a third year FOCUS Missionary and the team director of Team SMU. She’s from Houston, TX and graduated from Texas A&M #gigem with a degree in Chemistry. She became a missionary because her passion for bringing clean water to the world spiritualized into a passion for bringing the Living Water to the world. Her built in fun fact is that she’s a triplet.
Family Weekend at SMU is this weekend! We are so excited to see our students with their families.
