Hello friends! My wife and I went through RCIA, and both received our first communion with the campus ministry. Judy Neuhoff assisted us, and we worked with Father Mike, and after he was transferred Father Jeremiah. I'm trying to reach out to both Father's. Have any suggestions?
Its that time of year once again when we begin to think about our New Year’s Resolutions. Resolving to pray the rosary daily would be a wonderful resolution to consider!

A good way to help keep the resolution spark alive is to have a special rosary that looks and feels great in your hand. We offer rosaries made from a number of natural materials with a variety of bead sizes and weights…. Some feel very substantial and some are very light weight. We have a rosary to suit almost everyone.

Take a look at our many offerings, and make the resolution to pray the rosary each day in 2021 and for decades to come!

SENIOR SHOUTOUT! 🎓

Congratulations to Sarah Kaiser on receiving her B.S. in Computer Science! After graduation, she plans on working with J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. in Plano!

The "C" Senior Quote 👩‍🎓

"Catholic Campus Ministry at SMU impacted me by giving me a community and a support system in my relationship with Christ. FYSH was a great group for me to join my freshman year and gave me people I am still close friends with to this day. It also helped me to see that there were way more Catholics on campus than I thought! Catholic Campus Ministry at SMU improved my faith journey in allowing me to speak my mind and my heart to be honest and true in my journey with Christ, and gave me friends of virtue to encourage and challenge me on that journey as well. SENIOR SHOUTOUT! 🎓

Congratulations to Angela Barsallo on receiving her B.S. in Computer Engineering! After graduation, she plans on working for Citi in their Operations and Technology analyst program!

The "C" Senior Quote 👩‍🎓

"The Catholic Campus Ministry at SMU was really a home away from home for me. Growing up going to Catholic school and being involved in the Church, the ministry really felt like a familiar place and everyone was so kind and welcoming. It allowed me to grow in my faith more than I ever have because I was surrounded by friends my age who really wanted to grow in their faith. I made lifelong friends at SMU Catholic and will be forever grateful for the ministry and the staff who supported me and loved me so much!" - Angela Barsallo '21

Graduating Senior Mass 👩‍🎓

In 2018, members of the community commissioned a commemorative miniature sun catcher (pictured in post) ornament that students and others can carry home to remember their time at the ministry, at SMU, and Mary's loving spirit that cares for them.

The stained glass image comes from The Chapel of the Annunciation at the Catholic Center. It was designed in collaboration with students who championed an austere look for an ability to focus on their faith and prayer without distractions. 🙏

Check out this story from The Official Texas Catholic Newspaper on our Saints project by our students Marisa Nieto, Leanne Dang, and Anna Musich!

Hearing a talk about diversity in the Catholic Church inspired one student to find ways to highlight those groups underrepresented in her college community. With a little from her friends, Marisa Nieto’s inspiration evolved into something special: a project highlighting a group of Black saints and designating them as patrons for SMU Catholic Campus Ministry.

THE SAINTS

The Catholic Campus Ministry at SMU has chosen St. Josephine Bakhita, Sister Thea Bowman, St. Monica, St. Augustine, St. Martin de Porres, St. Felicity, and St. Perpetua to be our patrons as we ask the Holy Spirit to help us navigate our culture and community through love and understanding. Each of the saints reflects a particular facet of God's love in a unique and unrepeatable way. 😇

Throughout the week, we will have stickers and prayer cards of these saints at the C, so be sure to stop by and pick one up! Visit https://smucatholic.org/thesaints to learn more about our patrons! ✨

Thank you to our students Marisa Nieto, Anna Musich, and Leanne Dang for their efforts in putting this project together and create the amazing designs used for this campaign! ♥️

Easter Vigil

The Paschal candle represents Christ, the Light of the World.

The pure beeswax of which the candle is made represents the sinless Christ who was formed in the womb of His Mother. The wick signifies His humanity, the flame, His Divine Nature, both soul, and body.

During the Easter Vigil on Holy Saturday night, Father Wade carried the candle in procession into the dark church. A new fire, symbolizing our eternal life in Christ, is kindled which lights the candle. The candle, representing Christ himself, is blessed by the priest who then inscribes in it a cross, the first letters and last of the Greek alphabet, (Alpha and Omega `the beginning and the end') and the current year.

The Easter candle will be lighted each day during Mass throughout the Paschal season until Ascension Thursday!
