Buckner Dallas Fort Worth

Buckner began its operations in Dallas, Texas in 1879 when founder R.C. Buckner established the Buckner Orphans Home (now Buckner Children's Home).

Dr. Robert Cooke “Father” Buckner founded Buckner Orphans Home in 1879 in Dallas after seeing the needs of hurting and orphaned children in post-Civil War Texas. In the first years, Buckner Orphans Home was filled with children left parentless due to disease and hardship. It was Father Buckner’s deep compassion for the hopeless and helpless that served as the driving force behind his ministry. He constantly looked for innovative ways to deliver social ministries, including those to elders, combining his theological beliefs with a progressive social conscience.

Mission: Our mission Buckner International transforms the lives of vulnerable children, enriches the lives of senior adults and builds strong families through Christ-centered values. Our vision Buckner International will set the standard of excellence in ministry among vulnerable children, seniors and families. Our values Organizational values are critical because they define Buckner’s personality and provide our employees clarity about how we engage others. Buckner is: Christ-like Servant spirit Passion-driven

Buckner Foster Care and Adoption

"I tell everybody that I don’t personally believe foster care is God’s plan. I think it’s God’s grace. I think his plan is always for children to be raised by their parents. And then his grace comes in for when they can’t be. God just has a big plan we can’t see. Even for Chris, he must have quite the calling on him for God to intervene the way he has. We’re just honored to be a part of that.”

Thank you Watermark Community Church for hosting the Bridge to Adoption match event tonight. We are so encouraged to see so many families interested in Foster Care and Adoption!

fosterfocusmag.com The stockings are hung, by the chimney with care, in hopes that...In hopes of what? For many children who have been placed into the foster care system, they have come from homes where there was no Christmas, there was no hope. They have come from families that did not celebrate a holiday. They have....

Our Buckner DFW Foster Care and Adoption team took some time together to celebrate all of the long hours and goals we have met this year by going to brunch and a movie. We chose to see “A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood”, a movie in which Mr. Rogers challenges viewers to be fully present with the special and unique person you are with in that moment. In the end, our job is about building and restoring relationships with children and families but also with each other. We are thankful to be able to work together as a team who truly cares about each child and family we serve. #hopeshineshere

In an effort to strengthen more families in the community, the Buckner Family Hope Center at Wynnewood launched a Business Incubator pilot program this fall to help community members with entrepreneurial aspirations to pursue their dreams. The goal of the program is to elevate local business owners so they can achieve self-sufficiency and financial stability for themselves and their families, while encouraging economic growth in the community. Chef Clifford Blackmon entered the Business Incubator pilot with hopes to learn how to manage a food truck business, an endeavor he had attempted before without the tools to succeed.

During the course, Family Hope Center staff connected Clifford with Ashlee Kleinert. Ashlee is a successful food truck founder and owner who has operated Ruthie's Food Trucks in Dallas for almost a decade. Ashlee graciously agreed to meet with Clifford and share her experiences and help open some doors for him. “It was MY pleasure and he is a wonderful person … We loved meeting the team and having such a rich conversation about the pros and cons and tips for success,” Ashlee said. Clifford is now preparing to open his food truck, Mama’s Boy2 Food Truck, soon in the Dallas area.
