'Operation Check In' starts NOW!

We are trying something different at QBC . . .

We are going to 'Check In' with our 5 closest neighbors and ask them what can we pray about for them. Then we WILL PRAY about the things that are shared with us.

I can't wait to see what the Lord will do!

I know. I know. Some folks say, “I don’t NEED to ‘go to church’.” Or perhaps that may say it this way, “I don’t HAVE to ‘go to church’.”

Okay. Here’s a thought for you. If ANYBODY really didn’t ‘NEED’ to ‘go to church,’ it was Jesus. Jesus Christ was/is PERFECT; He lived a sinless life. He didn’t NEED to ‘go to church’.” But, He DID.

The New Testament is clear. Jesus participated in ‘church.’ For the sake of simplicity, let’s equate synagogue and Jewish worship with ‘church.’ Jesus participated in synagogue worship. Jesus participated in the religious holy days of the Jews. I won’t cite all the scriptural evidence, but just a sampling.

The Bible says, “So He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up. And as His custom was, He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up to read” (Luke 4:16, NKJV). It was Jesus ‘ CUSTOM, to participate in synagogue. Jesus ‘WENT TO CHURCH.’

The Bible says, “Now on the first day of the Feast of the Unleavened Bread the disciples came to Jesus, saying to Him, "Where do You want us to prepare for You to eat the Passover?" And He said, "Go into the city to a certain man, and say to him, 'The Teacher says, "My time is at hand; I will keep the Passover at your house with My disciples." ' " So the disciples did as Jesus had directed them; and they prepared the Passover” (Matthew 26:17-19, NKJV). Jesus’ disciples KNEW that they would celebrate the Passover WITH Jesus. They inquired as to the arrangements He wanted them to make for the observance. Obviously, this wasn’t the FIRST holy day they were observing together. It was an established pattern, so that the disciples simply ASSUMED they would do Passover together with Jesus.

Why ‘go to church’? Well, the old fall back says, “If it was good enough for JESUS, it’s good enough for ME.” If Jesus, Who surely didn’t NEED ‘church’ ‘went to church,’ HOW MUCH MORE I should ‘go to church.’ For I surely NEED it!

Now, the church where I ‘go’ isn’t perfect. Nope, I took care of that MYSELF. I am FAR from perfect. I ‘go to church’ because I NEED it. I want to be like Jesus, and Jesus ‘went to church.’ So, I am going to go to church. Maybe YOU ought to ‘go to church’ WITH me, eh??

I’ll save you a seat!

The building where a church meets is a special place. It is dedicated to God and furnished for His glory and for the growth of Christians and the good of lost people.

The Church is an entity that exists more for others a than for itself.
