MV's Diaconate Journey

The Diaconate Journey of Mark Venincasa, within the Diocese of Dallas. The journey consciously began in 2007 following a Christ Renews His Parish retreat.

My long-term calling towards the diaconate is turning into real-time steps towards its fulfillment. I made my calling known to Fr. Tom in March 2012. That officially began the journey within my life. I am sharing this journey with you, my prayerful supporters. I know not where this will lead; however, I have full trust that it will be an amazing journey. I am humbled and excited to share this.

Mission: To share the journey of mine towards and within the diaconate, and to share my Catholic faith.

THIS: 🙏🏼❤️🙏🏼❤️🙏🏼

From this morning's hymn within "The Liturgy of the Hours:"

"God's way is my way,
God's shield is round me,
God's host defends me,
Saving from ill.

Angels of heaven,
Drive from me always
All that would harm me,
Stand by me still."

-----James Quinn, S. J. (1919-2010)

From this evening's intercessions within "The Liturgy of the Hours:"

"May your Mother, comfort of the afflicted, protect us,
may we console others as you console us.

Sanctify your people, redeemed by your blood.

Look with love on those who suffer because of our indifference,
come to their aid, and turn our uncaring hearts to works of justice and charity.

Sanctify your people, redeemed by your blood.

You humbled yourself by being obedient even to accepting death, death on a cross,
give all who serve you the gifts of obedience and patient endurance.

Sanctify your people, redeemed by your blood."

From this morning's psalmody within "The Liturgy of the Hours:"

O praise the Lord, all you nations,
acclaim him, all you peoples!

Strong is his love for us;
for he is faithful for ever.

From this morning's hymn within "The Liturgy of the Hours:"

"Called from worship into service
Forth in your great name we go,
To the child, the youth, the aged,
Love in living deeds to show.
Hope and health, goodwill and comfort,
Counsel, aid, and peace we give,
That your children, Lord, in freedom,
May your mercy know, and live."

From this evening's hymn within "The Liturgy of the Hours:"

"In the just reward of labor,
God's will is done;

In the help we give our neighbor,
God's will is done;

In our world-wide task of caring for the hungry and despairing,
In the harvests [humankind is] sharing,

God's will is done."

From this morning's psalmody within "The Liturgy of the Hours:"

Have mercy on me, God,
have mercy on me.
In you I seek refuge.
In the shadow of your wings I seek refuge
till harm pass by.

I call to God Most High,
to God who provides for me.
May God send help from heaven to save me.
Be exalted over the heavens, God;
may your glory appear above all the earth.

My heart is steadfast, God,
my heart is steadfast.
I will sing and chant praise.
Awake, my soul;
awake, lyre and harp!
I will wake the dawn.

I will praise you among the peoples, Lord;
I will chant your praise among the nations.
For your mercy towers to the heavens;
your faithfulness reaches to the skies.
Exalt yourself over the heavens, God;
may your glory appear above all the earth.

---- Psalm 57:1-4, 6, 8-12

From this morning's intercessions within "The Liturgy of the Hours:"

"God of mercy, you gave us new light through baptism,
make us grow day by day in your likeness.

Lord, guide your people to walk in your ways.

May your generosity today bring joy to those in need,
in helping them may we find you.

Lord, guide your people to walk in your ways.

Help us to do what is good, right and true in your sight,
and to seek you always with undivided hearts.

Lord, guide your people to walk in your ways.

Forgive our sins against the unity of your family,
make us one in heart and spirit.

Lord, guide your people to walk in your ways."

Amen.

From this morning's hymn within "The Liturgy of the Hours:"

"We know that we have never wholly striven,
Forgetting self, to love the other. . ..

Free every heart from pride and self-reliance,
Our ways of thought inspire with simple grace;
Break down among us barriers of defiance,
Speak to the soul of all the human race.

Teach us, good Lord, to serve the needs of others,
Help us to give and not to count the cost.

Unite us all for we are born as [family]."

From this morning's intercessions within "The Liturgy of the Hours:"

From this morning's intercessions within "The Liturgy of the Hours:"

"Help us to deny ourselves today,
and not deny those in need.

By your death raise us to life.

May we receive this day of penance as your gift,
and give it back to you through works of mercy.

By your death raise us to life.

Master our rebellious hearts,
and teach us generosity.

By your death raise us to life."

Amen.
