Hi, I am a church musician, organist, oboist, composer. I have been to many CMI events in the Dallas area. I just started a new FB group called The Hymn Arrangers Club that you might find useful. We are a community focused on providing hymn intros, reharms, etc. for the keyboardist to play on Sunday mornings. It can be difficult to come up with inspiring ways to play hymns week after week, so we are here to help! Composers and performers are welcome. Please check it out! https://www.facebook.com/groups/701771893567463/
Dear Friends: The University of Oklahoma is trying to cut it's organ program, led by Dr. John Schwandt. This program is unique in the US, as it not only takes students through how to play the organ, but also how to repair and build them through a working organ shop. Please take a moment and call the OU President's office at (405) 325-3916. His name is Joseph Harroz, Jr., and was just named as Interim President. Please call today!

Mission: CMI acknowledges music as one of God's greatest gifts, deserving of our best understanding and care. The work of the Institute is thus based on the following assumptions: •music in worship should be chosen for its capacity to approach holiness, beauty and transcendence in the worship of God •music in worship is a vehicle for prayer and praise, serving the gathered community of all ages and backgrounds •leaders of music in worship must first be equipped with the finest skills as musicians, and further with the theological and musical skills to enable congregational song as prayer and praise •leaders of music in worship must have available resources that reflect the best of literature and practices available from current and past contributions to the music in Christian worship •pastors/priests must be equipped to work together with musicians so that together they can combine word and music to the glory of God and as a vehicle for the worship of the congregation

Peggy Sings a New Hymn

During these stressful times, we're all looking for comfort and hope. We think you'll find it in this new Carolyn Winfrey Gillette hymn, "When We Face a Unknown Future," sung and played by Peggy Graff, Organist/Associate Director of Music and Worship Arts for First United Methodist Church - Fort Worth, Texas. Peggy is also the subdean of the Fort Worth chapter of the American Guild of Organists. Technical work for the video provided by Hans Grim, a AGO chapter member.

Peggy Graff - Organist/Associate Director of Music and Worship Arts for First UMC Fort Worth sings and plays a new hymn by Carolyn Winfrey Gilletele.

What songs come to mind when you seek solace and comfort? These are the times when songs of faith and comfort mean so much. We'd really like to know the songs that soothe your soul.

"It is with deep sorrow mixed with gratitude that CMI marks the passing of our friend, Jan Schmidt, executive director of American Federation Pueri Cantores. Jan's remarkable gifts to the song of the church and to children, all of whom she invited to sing, will never be forgotten." Charlotte Kroeker, CMI Executive Director.

Time to sing the praises of our Spring Break college interns, Rebekah and Hannah Eatherton. (shown below) They are spending an extended break (due to coronavirus concerns) inputting music from publishers and gifts of two major collections into the CMI online library, which is Covid-19 free!

While the Eathertons are paid interns (and worth every penny!) we can always use volunteer help in the library. If you're interested, send an email to the Resource Library Director, [email protected].

The Festival of Hymns Sing-Along at Noroton Presbyterian Church in Darius, CN, has been cancelled due to coronavirus concerns. The festival had been scheduled for March 22nd.
