Enjoying all the online Bible studies. Charles Hosch’s today on John was so good. “The Light shines in the darkness and the darkness shall not overcome it!”
Thank you, Bethany for leading our children!
If you ever have the privilege of preaching from the pulpit at UPUMC, take this comfort: You are not the first to stand in this place, and if you’ve forget your bible, there are nine backups in arms reach.
Why is the main phone number no longer working? I need to set up a contribution today.
A special thanks for showing my niece Natasha Payne Teagle and family love during this difficult time in their lives.
Lib and I had a great time helping folks with items for those affected by Hurricane Harvey...

Small things often carry great significance. Such is the case with our opportunity to supply diapers to our friends at Hope Supply Company. Their bank is critically low on diapers and wipes used to support homeless children throughout Dallas. Visit the link below to donate diapers that will be shipped to Hope Supply Company directly from Amazon. Thank you for your generosity! #upumc #dallas #community

AN URGENT CONVERSATION | For our mid-week gathering today, Rev. Timothy Peoples joins Rev. Victoria Robb Powers in a conversation about racial justice and our calling as children of God. Tune in today at noon, LIVE, right here on our page. #upumc #racialjustice #blacklivesmatter

Genesis 2:7 - Then the Lord God formed human from the dust of the ground, and breathed into the human’s nostrils the breath of life; and the human became a living being.

When some can’t breathe, we must work with God to ensure they can.

DAY 1 | ACTS 1:1-11 | What does it mean to you to think of yourself as a friend of God? Follow along with our Acts reading plan at upumc.org/acts!

UPUMC Family and Friends,

Once again, we find ourselves appalled by the sin of racism. We mourn the lives lost, most recently that of George Floyd, and are confused by what our country is experiencing in the aftermath. We say that we thought that we were past all this. We obviously aren’t. We say that all life is sacred. It doesn’t seem that way. We point fingers. We cast aspersions. We think first of how this affects us.

Enough is enough.

There has never been a more appropriate time to prayerfully consider our baptismal vows. These are the questions we were all asked:

Do you renounce the spiritual forces of wickedness, reject the evil powers of this world, and repent of your sin?

Do you accept the freedom and power God gives you to resist evil, injustice, and oppression in whatever forms they present themselves?

Do you confess Jesus Christ as your Savior, put your whole trust in his grace, and promise to serve him as your Lord, in union with the Church which Christ has opened to people of all ages, nations, and races?

And we all answered: I do.

Maybe you, too, find yourself asking exactly what we can do. The link below will provide some ways to begin. But first, we must pray. We pray for the families of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, George Floyd and for the families of those whose names we don’t even know. We pray for our community, our city, and our nation and for direction in our responses. We pray to have ears that hear stories that are unlike our stories, eyes that see injustice whenever and wherever it occurs, hands that reach out and minister to those who are in pain, feet that follow the paths of righteousness, and hearts that are open to what God would have us learn. May God give us grace enough to stand, speak, and do those things which allow us to fulfill our vows with our very lives.
