Father Please help us to love you more
I've been watching the Holy Week services and am a long-time parishioner of the Cathedral. Why aren't Cathedral deacons and lectors being used for these services since the Cathedral is our parish and we have handled these services for several years now. At least you finally started using the Cathedral organist, but where are the Cathedral choirs and cantors? We've had various parishioners ask us these same questions!!
The hearing impaired tried to watch the Mass on Channel 4, but had problem is their a way to get Closed Caption so they can follow the Mass.
Thank you for sharing the Homily of Auxiliary Bishop Greg Kelly. Thanks to Bishop Edward Burns and Auxiliary Bishop for the wonderful Mass on Palm Sunday. Will continue to pray for all. God Bless.
What song was the final song of today's Palm Sunday mass?
Very disappointing that the Diocese would not allow Catholic churches to distribute Palms this Sunday. It should have been our choice! Churches could have set up for parishioners to drive though and receive a Palm. Just my thought!
Hello friends. I am searching for a friend from Oklahoma that now lives in Dallas. He name is Barbara and she lived in Lawton, OK until 1987 when she was 17 and then moved to Dallas. She is Caucasian, blonde, average build and should be 51yo now. She is an old friend from CCD Teen-Happenings in the SW Oklahoma area. Any help would be appreciated. Thx.
FYI- remember Palm Sunday is approaching - watch, listen, pray, even if your not catholic, please join and watch SOMETHING BEAUTIFUL TAKE PLACE, FROM our house to yours...God Bless....

Monsignor Donald Zimmerman retirement drive-by parade

A priest who has served nearly 50 years in the Diocese of Dallas was honored with a drive-by parade celebrating his 26 years as pastor at Christ the King Catholic Church in Dallas. The parade for Monsignor Donald Zimmerman was held on Sunday, April 26. Parishioners said they wanted to do what they could during this time of quarantine to let their beloved priest know how much they appreciate his 26-year ministry as their pastor.

Zimmerman, a Dallas native and 1965 graduate of Jesuit High School, came to Christ the King in 1993 after serving as pastor at St. Monica Catholic Church for 10 years. The 73-year old priest served at numerous Catholic churches in the Dallas diocese ministering to thousands of parishioners since his ordination in 1973.

Statement regarding Masses for the weekend of April 25/26

Public Masses and gatherings will not resume this weekend at churches in the Diocese of Dallas. The health and safety of parishioners and the community at large are priorities of Bishop Edward Burns. The bishop is staying steadfast with his decree issued March 31st indicating that churches are closed through the end of this month.

A new decree will be announced after details of the Governor’s next statement can be considered. The bishop will consider information from medical experts and government officials before consulting with the diocese’s priest advisory council in coming to a decision on the best time and way to resume public services.

Living our Catholic Faith in the Diocese of Dallas

The Catholic Diocese of Dallas was first established on July 15, 1890 with a bull issued by Pope Leo XIII. The diocese currently covers an area of 7,523 square miles and includes the following counties: Collin, Dallas, Ellis, Fannin, Grayson, Hunt, Kaufman, Navarro, and Rockwall. The Diocese is led by Bishop Edward J. Burns, the eighth bishop of the diocese.

The Coat of Arms of the Diocese of Dallas📷

Crests or coats-of-arms tell about the history of a place or a family, the crest of the Diocese of Dallas is no different. Through its imagery, the crest presents a symbolic history of the Diocese of Dallas.

At the top of the crest is a bishop’s mitre, the tall hat worn by bishops that is a symbol of their office. Beneath that is a red shield with a number of objects. Red is the color of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, patron of the diocese. In the upper right hand corner are crossed swords, the symbol of St. Paul who died by the sword. It represents the mission at St. Paul, Texas in Collin County. St. Paul mission was the first Catholic Church in what is now the Diocese of Dallas.

In the lower left corner is a star, it represents the Lone Star of Texas. Running diagonally is a wavy line with three blue fleurs-de-lis. The fleur-de-lis, or flower of life, is a symbol of the Holy Trinity and is also the national symbol of France. In the crest both symbols are meaningful. The wavy line represents the Trinity River, whose original name was Most Holy Trinity. Three fleurs-de-lis represent the Trinity. They also recall the French priests who first served the diocese.
