Please join us this morning in remembering Cecile P. Bonte, who passed away April 16, 2020. Cecile was a longtime member of the Choir at St. Monica and a fervent supporter of St. Monica Fine Arts. The Memorial Mass will begin at 10:30AM (CST) and can be found at the link below:
We are thrilled to introduce our incoming Associate Director of Music, who will officially begin on Monday, August 17, Logan Herod!
Logan is a native of Dallas who began piano and voice lessons at an early age. She joined the Children's Chorus of Greater Dallas in 4th grade, and was a member through her senior year of high school. After being active in the music program in Highland Park ISD, Logan was accepted to Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts in downtown Dallas to study music. Following high school, Logan attended Oklahoma City University, where she graduated in four years with two Bachelor degrees: one in Vocal Music Education and the second in Church Music. She then returned to the Dallas area to begin her teaching career and pursue a graduate education. Recently, Logan completed a Masters in Sacred Music in 2019 and a Masters in Music Education in 2020, both from Southern Methodist University. Logan has been an early childhood music teacher at both St. Joseph Catholic School and St. John Episcopal School and has taught children's choir, directed handbell choirs, and served as a choral section leader and cantor at Christ the King Catholic Church. Among other organizations, she is an active member of Choristers Guild and the American Guild of Organists and serves on the board of the Dallas Chapter of National Association of Pastoral Musicians.
We are very proud to welcome Logan to our staff and our Music Ministry, and while we know that we will never be able to replace Mr. E, we are confident that Logan has both the energy and the vision to carry on and progress the tradition of excellence in music for which St. Monica Catholic Church and School are known in D-FW!
Please join us in welcoming Logan Herod!
It is with mixed emotions that we announce the departure of Emmanuel Espiritu (“Mr. E”), St. Monica’s Associate Director of Music, as he moves on to a new role as Choir Director at John Paul II High School in Plano, effective Friday, July 31, 2020.
Mr. E has served in a variety of positions at St. Monica Catholic Church since he began here nine years ago, including as the Youth Director, Director of Youth Music, Music Theatre Teacher, and Choir Director for St. Monica Catholic School. Through that time, he has overseen an incredible growth in the school’s Children’s Choirs and has held a leading role in the substantial expansion of the church’s Music Ministry to its current position as one of St. Monica’s largest ministries. Additionally, he has helped plan and execute numerous successful Fine Arts events, successfully led two contemporary ensembles (including during the professional production of an album), and worked hard to facilitate a strong relationship between the various groups that comprise the Music Ministry and Fine Arts Program.
While sad to lose him on the St. Monica staff, we wish him well in this new and exciting role and we look forward to celebrating his continued success in the years to come. Please join us in praying for Emmanuel, his family, and the St. Monica Music Ministry during this time of transition.
[05/05/20] Friends, while it may not come as a surprise, we regret to inform you that we have canceled the Mothers' Day Concert that was originally scheduled for 3:30pm on Sunday, May 10. We are working to determine the best course of action regarding the final event in the 2019-2020 Season, the Annual Patriotic Concert, and we will update you here as soon as a plan is in place. Please say a prayer for all those affected, directly or indirectly, by COVID-19.
St. Monica mourns the loss of one of our own, Cecile Bonte, who passed away one week ago today (Thursday, April 16, 2020). Please feel free to post memories, stories, pictures, or thoughts below.

For now, this will apply to all remaining recitals, including the recital on April 1. We will work to reschedule the performances, if possible, and will keep you updated once this situation is re-evaluated. Please join me in prayer for those affected by this crisis.
