The Youth & Young Adults of Chapel in the Woods Bible Church
Maturity and Unity in the Body of Christ 1 As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. 2 Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. 3 Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. 4 There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called; 5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism; 6 one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all. 7 But to each one of us grace has been given as Christ apportioned it. -Ephesians 4:1-7

"If a person enters a gathering to be wowed with something impressive, with a style that fits him just right, with an order of service and song selection designed just the right way, that person may miss the supernatural presence of God. Worship is supernatural whenever people come hungry to respond, react, and receive from God for who He is and what He has done." Matt Chandler, Creature of the Word: The Jesus-Centered Church

[10/26/15] Hello party people. The Walker's have graciously invited us to their house to fellowship with Andy and Sylvia Grosh before they head back to Papua New Guinea. Wanda said she would provide a meat. Sarah Allen is providing dessert. We need to know who is coming and what you are bringing. Still needed are a vegetable, bread and salad at a minimum. Other goodies would also be appreciated. Please keep in mind that Sylvia is gluten-free. This is a wonderful opportunity for some more individual time with some wonderful Godly folks.
"For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be."
I believe a question we all face in life, at some point, in some way, is, "What's my purpose?" Many will believe they don't have a purpose. Others may not know but have a strong desire to find out. Some may not have even thought about it, really, or are just not that concerned.
As we began to talk about purpose on Wednesday we discussed how differently people come to identify their purpose. Or in the case of the "hippie" in the video, He had no purpose. He stated " I'm just an accident suspended between two accidents."
As I was growing up, I remember a point in my life where a reality of my existence had caught me off guard. I was not "planned." You know, as a child it's hard to understand what existence is all about, and when your faced, at such a young age, with the understanding that no one really expected you to be here, you begin to question a lot of things. Then at a point I realized that this meant I was an accident. Concerned, I went to my mom and I asked her, "Mom, am I an accident?" My mother tried her best to never lie to me or my siblings and she always chose her words very carefully. I remember, she looked me in the eyes and said, "Accidents are things you don't want to ever happen again. You were a surprise!"
Sometimes it may seem that our life has no purpose. You may feel like it doesn't even matter or even say to yourself, "I'm not even supposed to be here!" I feel sorry for the "hippie" in the video and I hope he came to know the Lord but the problem is he lived in a false reality. Whether it was that to many people convinced him that he was an accident or not enough people revealed to him that he was not an accident. Like my mother did for me.
As we read Gods word to us, we see in many different places that we have a purpose! In Psalms 139 where we see that God has intimately designed us, and in Romans 8:28 where "we have been called according to His purpose" or in Ephesians 1:11 "In Him we are chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of Him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of His will!"
Last week we talked about Passion. We talked about how some of us may be missing or have lost our passion. I want you to go back to the point in your life where you made the decision to accept Jesus as you Savior. Why did you do it? What did you not like about your life? What was wrong? What needed to change? What was it about Jesus that made you realize, "I Need This!" Have you forgotten? The most often commanded thing in the Old Testament was to Remember!
If you go back to the Purpose for your acceptance of Christ in your life, You will find what sparked your Passion. Hold on to that Purpose! Remember that Purpose! God has a purpose for you and for me. It's Jesus!
Maybe your saying, "Ray, I don't know what my purpose is." or "I need help finding it again." Maybe your not a Christian but your want to know more. I want to help you! I want to Pray for you! Message me personally if you need to. Pour out your heart! Part of our purpose is to be here for each other and to edify each other. Let me walk with you and carry your burdens with you. "When two or more are gathered together I am there!" says the Lord! Leave me a comment or hit the like button. I will pray for everyone of you by name. I love you all!
Can everyone really have a specific purpose? Pete Briscoe discusses knowing your individual purpose in life.
Where is the Passion in your life? What are you hungry for? What are you going to take hold of today!
On Wednesday we talked about Psalm 119. We read the words of David as he cried out to God with passion. You know, David can seem as "bipolar" at times. In one verse he will say "For my days have been consumed in smoke, and my bones have been scorched like a hearth." And then in another verse he will say, "Praise the Lord! Oh give thanks to the Lord for He is good; For His lovingkindness is everlasting." But regardless we can say that David speaks with passion.
In the beginning of Psalm 119 David reflects on the Law of God. He expresses the attitude and the response we should have towards God's will. He speaks as to what it means in our lives and what our lives mean in the aspect of God's will.
Verse 19 and 20 really spoke to me as we see David crying out to God saying "Do not hide Your commandments from me. My soul is crushed with longing after Your ordinances at all times." -NASB The Amplified Bible translation puts verse 20 this way, "My heart is breaking with the longing that it has for Your ordinances and judgments at all times." What powerful emotion! Such Passion!
David wants to be actively involved in Gods Plan. He wants God to lead his ways. He wants God to direct his steps as he walks through life. He desires it, longs for it, his heart breaks to be apart of All that God has!
So, I ask you this. Where is your passion for God? Do you hunger for His word? Do you thirst for His Spirit? Can you not wait to be actively involved in His Plan? If not, what's holding you back?
If you feel like your life has fallen into a "lukewarm" status. If you are saying to yourself, "I want more but, I just dont feel God. I don't hear Him speak. I don't know what He wants. I don't have time." Or, maybe you have fallen back a little and you feel like God is ashamed of you or disappointed in you and your afraid to confront Him. I want to pray for you. I want to pray for you because I have been where you are right now! Not long ago I felt distant and afraid to confront God. I want to pray for you because God wants to hear your voice cry out to Him. God wants you to desire to be a part of His plan. He has great and mighty things for you! He has forgiven you and wants to lift you up! Nothing can separate you from the Love of God! Thank You Jesus!
If you would like me to pray for you send me a message or leave a comment. If you would like to stay anonymous, just hit the like button. If you know someone you would like to pray for, share this post and let them know you want to pray for them. I love you guys and I want to see a Passion in your hearts for Jesus!
