Resurrection Sunday

Worship and Sermon

CCLI #20204210

[04/12/20]   So, driving to church this morning, in the rain, made me think about the morning when Mary and the other women went to Jesus’ tomb. Much like their male counterparts - the disciples- they hadn’t really grasped what He meant when he foretold His resurrection. In their shocked grieving mindset they headed to the tomb to anoint Jesus’ body with the proper oils.

Even though it was probably not raining, it was a gloomy journey to the garden tomb where He was laid. There sadness was changed to surprise and fear when they arrived. The stone was rolled away and a “man” in brilliant white apparel was there. He told them that Jesus wasn’t there, that He had risen, just like He said. The angel then told them to go tell the Disciples.

But Mary, from Mandela, was apparently so grieved that she didn’t grasp what the angel said. She fell to her knees weeping. She was the one who probably had experienced the greatest change from the touch of the Master’s hand. She went from being possessed by seven demons and living a godless immoral life to one who had been set free and made wholly clean. Her devoted love for her Savior was possibly unmatched as well. Consequently, her grief was tremendous.

In great evidence of Christ’s love for her He appeared to her there in her lowest emotional time. Before He had even presented His sacrifice to the Father in the Heavenly temple, Jesus pauses to assure Mary that He had, in fact, risen and would se her and the Disciples soon.

I can’t imagine the joy and excitement Mary had as she ran to tell the Disciples that she had seen the Lord.

In this strange time we are in, the resurrection of Christ still stands as the greatest event in human history. On this day some two thousand years ago, Jesus confirmed His deity by conquering death. He had paid the debt for the sin of all mankind just 3 days earlier on the cross. He rose from the grave to prove that eternal life was not a myth, but a fact. We may be hindered from all of the traditional things we do at this season, but that doesn’t change the fact that Jesus rose from the dead and offers us eternal life by believing in Him.

Join us online at 10:30 am Central time to celebrate our victory over sin and death in Christ.

[03/26/20]   During these uncertain times, there are a few things that are certain. God is still God, God still loves man, God's salvation is still freely available do all who believe in Christ, the Holy Spirit is still there in all who believe, and His peace remains with Him. We can have confidence in this - whether we get COVID 19, or not, God has given us the promise to be with us and to help us to live lives that exemplify His love for our fellow man.
We are moving our livestream to YouTube so that anyone that doesn't have Facebook can still view it. "See" you Sunday.

Our Sunday service live streams on FACEBOOK at 10:30 AM tomorrow! Great music and a word from Bob Vacendak on “How to Overcome Fear!” in light of COVID-19.

FROM: Pastor Bob
TO: My Awesome Ridge Pointe Family

As you know all too well, the news and numbers concerning the CORONAVIRUS are changing so rapidly that we can barely keep up with all of it. Last night, the elder board of Ridge Pointe Fellowship met and decided that for the safety of every member and guest of our church, it would be wise to move our weekly worship service to Facebook until this virus goes away. Hopefully, that will be soon. But in the meantime, you can join us through FACEBOOK at 10:30 AM this coming Sunday for music from our praise and worship team (standing 6 feet apart—ha ha) followed by a special message from God’s Word about what to do when troubles (like the ones we are experiencing) strike! This will be a very important message for everyone. Please send emails and text messages out to family and friends and invite them to connect to Ridge Pointe Fellowship’s FACEBOOK stream at 10:30 AM this Sunday.

God Bless!

RPF Member Memo

At Ridge Pointe Fellowship, we are committed to the safety and health of our
members, employees, and guests. Although the coronavirus continues to
spread, the Center for Disease Control (CDC) maintains that, for most people,
the immediate risk of exposure to the virus in the US remains low.

We know you’ve heard a lot about the coronavirus (COVID–19) lately. This is a rapidly changing situation and we wanted you to know that we are following both the CDC and the news very intently. Though we are not aware of anyone associated with Ridge Pointe that has tested positive for COVID-19, we have proactively taken additional steps to minimize any risk to our church family. For example, we have increased our cleaning and sanitization efforts throughout the entire church property. We will also continue providing hand sanitizer near every entrance throughout our campus. In addition, for this Sunday’s Lord’s Supper service, we have purchased communion elements that are individually packaged for additional safety.

Ridge Pointe Fellowship will be having both Bible Fellowship and Morning Worship this Sunday, March 15, 2020, at our regular times of 9:15 and 10:30 AM.

But with safety as a top priority, Ridge Pointe would like to convey the following guidelines for you to follow both now and in the near future:

• If you (or one of your family members) are not feeling well and think that you may have the symptoms of COVID–19, please stay home. Symptoms of COVID–19 include, but are not limited to:
o Fever
o Cough
o Shortness of breath
We don’t want you to feel in any way obligated to attend if you aren’t feeling well or are concerned about getting the virus.
• Please do not bring any open food items to Bible Fellowship (donuts, fruit, cheese and crackers, etc.) Instead, you may bring pre-packaged food items that are sealed and not easily contaminable (e.g., bags or raisins, granola, nuts, etc.).
• Ridge Pointe is adopting a “no handshake/hug policy” for the near future. This is probably harder to do than to say, as shaking hands and hugging each other is something that we do regularly and often at Ridge Pointe.
• We encourage you to follow the CDC’s guidance regarding disease prevention by practicing good hygiene and thoroughly washing your hands (soap and water for 20 seconds many times each day). Staying hydrated is very important as well.
• Additionally, we are asking any who have recently traveled internationally to areas where COVID-19 has been diagnosed to remain home for the recommended fourteen days before returning to church.

If you are not able to attend church for any reason, we invite you to go to our YOUTUBE page and to watch one of the many sermons by Pastor Bob, one of our Elders, or guest speakers that are listed there for your enjoyment and edification. The link to our page is:

https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=ridge+pointe+fellowship

We will post Pastor Bob’s sermon from March 15th to that site ASAP.

Finally, we will continue to monitor the news on COVID-19 and will update you with any new developments.

Take care!

Church Family,

My apologies for getting this out a bit late. Thank you for your patience.

This month, March 2020, our Spotlight of Prayer is on Leah Rigsby who is a missionary to the Papa New Guinea. She serves under Wycliffe Bible Translators serving in Ukarumpa. She is a secondary teacher at Ukarumpa International School. She also wears many other hats and fills in where needed. She will be in Papa New Guinea until June of this year and will be on furlough in the United States until January 2021.

To find out more about Leah and her ministry you can follow this link to her website
https://mailchi.mp/68dfab61bead/jan2020 or her page https://www.facebook.com/leah.rigsby

Leah sent this note about how we can pray for her and the ministry there:

In October our Youth Director had to leave, meaning there was no one in charge of our youth ministry department. I and two other women have stepped up and are essentially running the department while also being full time teachers. We are waiting to hear if a new youth director will be coming in June, but in the meantime, we are running the weekly youth group meetings, planning weekly gym hangouts for the students, and trying to coordinate details for our youth retreat next year (we essentially run our own "summer camp" for our students since those aren't available here). We want our students to feel valued and poured into spiritually the community, so we're trying to keep things running and do smaller events that we can handle putting together while we wait for a youth director who can coordinate bigger events and larger mission trip opportunities for the middle and high school students here.

At the end of March, our high school band and choir students will be doing a "music tour/mission trip" over three days in a city about 4 hours away. We will play concerts and students will share the gospel and testimonies between songs and also go around and pray with people who want it after the shows. Papua New Guinea considers itself a Christian nation, and is very receptive to these "street evangelism" type of activities. The last time we went on this trip, an 18 yr old girl asked for prayer and shared her story of being forced into prostitution and being homeless. She ended up getting taken in by one of the music teachers and family and is now attending the "Christian Leadership Training College" in PNG. Please pray that this trip would continue to allow us to build relationships with the people of Papua New Guinea and that our students would be willing and able to share their faith in a way that is not available in most of their home countries.

They have a son, Oliver. Paul is also one of the authors of “What Is Dispensationalism?”, along with our Pastor Bob Vacendak.

They are currently in the US and they will be at our church on February 16. We are excited to have them with us and hear about their ministry.
