[01/19/20] Once again we come to the time to remember Christ’s sacrifice for us. His body was broken and His blood shed for our redemption. Join us as we acknowledge His wonderful grace shown at the cross.
The Ropp’s made us safely back home to the USA! They were able to avoid travel through China from the Philippines - Praises for that!! Please continue to lift them up in prayer.
Supporting missionaries is very important to our church. This year in 2020 we will focus on one of the missionaries we support each month. Please join us in lifting them up in prayer specifically each month.
This month, January 2020, our Spotlight of Prayer is on Jeff and Pat Ropp who are missionaries to the Philippines. They have been in ministry for over 30 years. They started on the mission field to the Philippines through the Bob Tebow Evangelistic Association (BTEA) in 2011. In 2014, they were sent again through New Life Church and World in Need International to establish and multiply grace based churches in the Philippines long term. They will be in the Philippines until February 12, 2020 and transition back to the United States.
Specifically, the Ropps have asked that we pray for them in these ways:
1. Their overseers training in their home Sunday - Wednesday Jan 12-15, 2020 to be led by God’s Spirit. Pray for safe travels for our pastors and for them to be equipped to multiply disciples of Jesus in their regions.
2. The gospel to spread during their time there in the Philippines.
3. Their car in the Philippines to sell soon and for loose ends to be tied together.
4. Their transition back to the United States
To find out more about the Ropps and their ministry you can follow this link to their website https://missionswithropps.com/# or their page https://www.facebook.com/ropp.missions

[01/05/20] We had a great service to start the New year. We hope to have the sermon audio and YouTube video up later today.
1Ti 2:1-4 Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, (2) for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. (3) For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, (4) who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
Here it is the morning of the first day of a new year. Do you want this year to be a better year than last year? If, so, it is probably a good idea to follow Paul's admonition to his protégé, Timothy.
We need to make prayer the first and highest priority of our day and of our life. And not just a perfunctory thanks for a new day, or give me what I want. Our prayer needs to be filled requests for our daily needs, and the needs of others. We need to pray, not so much for material needs, but for the greater spiritual needs. We need to be specifically praying for those who are in authority. In our case in the USA, that means the President, Congress, governors, legislators, mayors and city councils. We need to pray for our military and police, as well.
What this country needs most of all is a revival of zeal and passion for the things of God among us Christians. Far too long the majority of us have just complacently gone through life only concerned with ourselves. We need to seek out what God wants us, as individuals and churches, to do to show the love of God to our communities. This is how real change is accomplished.
Join me in praying each morning for our nation and mostly for revival in the body of Christ.

A sermon to bring in the New Year from Psalm 90 by Pastor Bob Vacendak at Ridge Pointe Fellowship church in Dallas, TX.
Isa 9:6 For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Luk 2:10-11 Then the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. (11) For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.
These two verses are two of the most powerful statements about the birth of Christ. Isaiah tells us of the awesome majesty of the coming savior as well as His purpose of bringing peace to men. Both peace with God and ultimately peace with men. Luke tells us that the angel proclaimed the specific purpose pf this very special birth - a Savior was born. Jesus Christ was born to be the Savior of all who will put their faith in Him. This is the restoration of the relationship God had with man at Creation - peace with God.
Through our faith in Christ our inherited enmity with God is removed as well as the penalty for sin being paid. We are now not just at peace with God, but actually adopted as children of God.
As good as it is to share in the love of God by giving gifts to others at this season, it is even more important that we remember the great Gift God gave to us. We should use this season, as the year draws to a close, to evaluate how we are doing at living the love of Christ out to those around us. Are we really doing our lives the way He wants us to? Lets go into the new year with a renewed zeal for the things of God.
Mat 6:33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
Feliz Navidad y Prospero Ano

So, I have been pondering what the doctrine of the Nicolaitans might have been. The commentaries I have read mostly just say they were followers of Nicolaus, but don't even speculate about what that might have been. I wonder if the name Nicolaitans, is not about who they followed, but what they believed. The Greek word transliterated for Nicolaus is from two Greek words. The first meaning victory and the second meaning people. Thus, the meaning of Nicolaus is "victory over the people." This means that the Nicolaitans may have been a group of people that believed in the idea of Christian leaders being above the rest of the church, having total control over what was taught, and how people lived with no humble submitting to one another. This would be a belief that could have formed the foundation for the priestly hierarchy in the Catholic church and others. Basically any church that uses the roles of church leaders to exert power over the congregates would be following this belief.
I could be wrong about this, but I think that the way we do church today is quite different from first century practices, in part, because of the leadership structure we have seen over the centuries.
