Enhancing Student Learning Fostering Civic Responsibility Developing Servant Leaders
Mission: Dallas Baptist University's goal for the Service-Learning program is to enhance student learning and to support the University's overall mission to produce servant leaders who have the ability to integrate faith and learning through their respective callings. The program allows students to practice theories learned in the classroom through hands-on service alongside community partners and agencies - both local and global - as a students' knowledge is extended beyond the classroom walls, into the community, and around the world.
We are so glad that one of our Community Partners, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Dallas, has brought over 100 high school students on campus to hear about the importance of college and to get a tour of campus!
On Saturday, February 1, 2020 @ 10 a.m. there is a great opportunity for service hours! Talus pay located at 12700 Park Central Drive will be donating furniture to Meals on Wheels of Erath County. Meals on Wheels desperately needs assistance loading the furniture into the moving truck. Everything will be supplied, including snacks and drinks. Talus pay is located on the 11th floor but there is a freight elevator so you won't have to carry anything up or down stairs. If you would be willing to help or have any questions, please email, Elizabeth Johnson at [email protected] - her cell phone number is 254/967-6301.
Meals on Wheels of Erath County is a small nonprofit that provides hot, nutritious, daily meals to home-bound senior citizens in our community - this furniture donation will allow us to use our resources to provide services to our seniors.
Thank you so much in advance,
Elizabeth Johnson, LMSW, LCCA
