We love our Pastor and Brother Napoleon. 😍🥰

Note: If you would like to honor a small-church pastor or an ordained, female minister, please private message your nomination to The Wesleyan Woman for review.

The Wesleyan Woman honors Rev. Marlene James and her husband, Napoleon. In 1989, the James’ children attended Vacation Bible School at Bruton Terrace Church of the Nazarene in the Dallas, TX metroplex. From that church’s outreach endeavor, the James family visited the congregation, accepted Christ as their Savior, and joined the church. As time evolved, the Lord placed a call for pastoral ministry on Rev. James’ heart. In 2012, Rev. Marlene James retired from the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department after over 35 years of service to become the senior pastor of the same church that reached out to her family in 1989, and she continues to faithfully serve there today. “My husband is my biggest supporter,” Rev. James states. “He is our church’s building manager, and I don’t know what I’d do without him.” The strong, silent type, Napoleon steadfastly supports and believes in his wife’s call to pastoral ministry. They have been married 43 years. They are blessed with strong family involvement in their ministry with 4 adult children, 8 grandchildren, and extended family who are all members of the church. Rev. James, an ordained Nazarene elder, also serves as the North/East Texas District Women’s Ministries Director and further serves on the district’s Board of Ministry. A gifted leader, she impacts her community through serving on the administration team for the Pleasant Grove Ministerial Alliance Committee. Furthermore, her article, “Preaching God’s Word Transforms Our Community,” was recently published in GRACE AND PEACE magazine’s 2020 Winter edition. THANK YOU Rev. Marlene and Napoleon James for your commitment to the work of God’s kingdom!

[01/16/21]   Good Afternoon Church. We will not distribute food today due to several unavoidable issues. We will resume on the 3rd Saturday of next month.

[01/14/21]   1 John 4:20-21 says Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen. And He has given us this command: Anyone who loves God must also love their brother and sister.

Love is an action word. It takes intentional effort to love others the right way. Love in the wrong way can cause heartache and pain. The wrong kind of love has a tendency of destroying relationships and families. That is why the Lord command for us is to love one another the way He loves us. Not the kind of love that the world gives that is only temporary, instead He calls us to love sincerely. This means loving others inspite of what they can do for you. Loving them no matter what race, gender or even lifestyle they chose. Loving others long term and not only for a moment. Do you wonder why the Lord wants us to love in this manner. This kind of love is infectious. It will catch on like wild fire. God's kind of love will change the heart of the most hateful person. His love will turn a sinner life around. His love will hold a relationship together like glue. His love will cause a family to be a family. His kind of love will keep someone from giving up on their own life. His kind of love will cause millions of people to pray for a fallen nation and believe the Lord will respond. God's kind of love can go a long ways if only we will spread His amazing love to others so that they will experience it and pass it on. We can make this happen starting with each one of us. Will you follow God by showing those on your journey His love? But remember God's love is unconditional and it's real. To God be the glory.

I'll start:
I love you and nothing can change that.

Pastor Marlene
