“It was a fantastic MAKE! Day at St. John’s. Students in every grade combined their imaginations with their skills in science and math. Equipped with a wide array of technology, they engineered rockets, laser engravings, and mini-robots. They also explored art forms ranging from block printing to flower-crown weaving, and spent time in the garden and the kitchen harvesting plants and cooking up tasty treats.

MAKE! Day is always a student favorite, and we would like to thank all of our teachers for the extra hard work and preparation that they put into this day.”

The Crusader Club Dads & Kids Breakfast was a wonderful way to start the day! We got a sneak preview of the costumes and songs of the upcoming Frozen musical, heard from the fourth grade about the approval of their ambitious soil conservation project, and enjoyed a delicious breakfast.

St. John's Halloween 2019

Yesterday our school was filled with excitement, laughter and celebration. We began the morning with Buddy Day--fully planned by NJHS. Little buddies loved visiting with their older buddies. Then PK and Kinder had their parade and party. Followed by Lower School's parade and party. Lower School students loved having their families, and the rest of school come out to cheer them on during the parade. Lots of fun and creative costumes! And our faculty did not disappoint! Comment if you find and identify Waldo! #SjesDallasWheresWaldo

3rd Grade Immigration Simulation

3rd grade did a 5-week PBL on Immigration. "How can we, as historians, recreate the journey of European immigrants as they travel through Ellis Island?" To answer this driving question, students learned about Europeans immigrants from the late 1800s through 1924. They ended their study by recreating a day in the life of an immigrant passing through Ellis Island and taking the oath of an American citizen.

Heard through the grapevine that the Class of 2019 is behind the signs on Harter Rd. What's happening tomorrow 8th graders??? Have a feeling we're all in for a surprise during morning carpool! #SJESClass2019LastDay

This morning St. John’s held Sheepfold, a beloved tradition as we begin our goodbyes to the graduating Class of 2019. An excerpt from Father Houk as he blessed 8th grade class:
"Jesus loves you without measure, he watches over you and protects you, and now he is giving you permission to go. You’ve grown up in this incredible St. John’s community that has nurtured and fed you. You’ve been well loved: by classmates, by your little buddies. You’ve been cared for and strengthened by the shepherds of this community: teachers, administrators, clergy. And they, with Jesus, are saying, “It’s time. You’ve got this.”
Of course, you can always come back to the fold when you need someone to talk to, when you want somebody to pray for you, if you’re excited about celebrating a success or achievement; if you need a pat on the back or a little direction. St. John’s will always be home."
