Pathway of Life Church Nursery & Pre-school - ages newborn to 5 year olds.
Cherish every moment!
Just a reminder that growing into a healthy and mature human being is a process (& something that none of us have arrived at).
The more we focus on negative moments or bad days with our child, the more we become critical & nit-picking parents.
This steals from us the joy of building a positive connected relationship with our child.
Give more attention to their general direction of growth, & allow them the grace of being human 💛
“Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.” (Proverbs 22:6 NIV)
“Proverbs teaches that the ultimate goal of parenting is neither mere control nor affirmation but to teach their children to become wise and righteous. We should do for our children what our heavenly father did for us when he sent Jesus to us with his fatherly teaching (John 14:24).” ~Timothy Keller, God‘s Wisdom for Navigating Life
“Listen to your father, who gave you life, and do not despise your mother when she is old. Buy the truth and do not sell it— wisdom, instruction and insight as well. The father of a righteous child has great joy; a man who fathers a wise son rejoices in him.” (Proverbs 23:22-24 NIV)
Let’s fill them with love ❤️
Try to get to the root cause of your child’s negative behavior.
LANGUAGE has the POWER to elevate or demean, bless or curse, heal or wound. NOW IS THE TIME to SPEAK HEAVEN’S WORDS to our children.
Love is demonstrated in the little things...
Like making the effort to be interested in something you have no interest in, because it’s important to someone you love.
This builds the foundation of connection & relationship.
They don’t really care about things. They really just want YOU!!
Happy Labor Day!
“You shall eat the fruit of the labor of your hands; you shall be blessed, and it shall be well with you.”(Psalms 128:2 ESV)
“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28 ESV)
This is so sad, but true. Been reading a lot about raising emotionally intelligent kids these days, and most points stress the need for our presence.
I’ve learned to put down my phone during certain hours of the day so that I could pay 💯 attention to my kids, and that explained why I don’t respond to texts as fast as I did before. And surprisingly, it has given me peace as well and helps with my productivity.
Kids only grow up once. Don’t let them grow up not needing you because you didn’t give them what they needed in the first place.
For those with young kids headed off to school, keep this in mind.
I’ve learned a lot about my kids during playtime. Listen to what they say and watch how they play.
Did you know that playtime is therapeutic for your little one? I used to work in a Christian counseling office and play therapy was used to get kids to open up. It was amazing to see how they played and what they drew directly correlated to what they experienced in real life.
Parenting isn’t about making your child become who you want them to be.
It’s about seeing who they really are & giving them permission to be who they are, even more. 😍😍
My grandparents were such great leaders in their churches and their communities. But most of all, they taught me to love 💕 God. My life would not be the same without their influence.
I pray that your children 👶🏽 have the opportunity to learn from faith-filled, seasoned grandparents.
“Remember your leaders who taught you the word of God. Think of all the good that has come from their lives, and follow the example of their faith.” (Hebrews 13:7 NLT)
Instill in your children the beauty and value of reading books. 📚
When we speak words of encouragement to our children, it increases their confidence & lifts their spirit. ✝️ 🙌🏽
““So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.” (Matthew 6:34 NLT)
It is very easy in parenting to measure ourselves against a perfectionist standard.
So whenever we don’t meet that standard (most days) we quickly spiral into guilt.
But our children don’t need us to be perfect.
They need to see an example of someone who fails, who takes responsibility, asks for forgiveness, & makes changes. 💛
“Jabez called upon the God of Israel, saying, "Oh that you would bless me and enlarge my border, and that your hand might be with me, and that you would keep me from harm so that it might not bring me pain!" And God granted what he asked.” (1 Chronicles 4:10 ESV)
Let’s remember, only what we do for Christ will last.
We'll be meeting on Tuesday evenings, starting June 9th, and will have other events throughout the summer. More details coming soon!
