Dallas Mayor’s Proclamation

“Whereas, the coronavirus pandemic has tragically led to illness and death in of Dallas; and

Whereas, the coronavirus pandemic has caused great economic harm, putting people out of work, closing businesses, and bringing hunger and hardship to many residents of Dallas; and

Whereas, the coronavirus pandemic interrupted the education of the children in our city and put our educators at risk; and

Whereas, the coronavirus continues to spread throughout our city; and

Whereas, there is not yet a cure or vaccine for the coronavirus; and

Whereas, the Pray Dallas initiative notes that throughout the history of the City of Dallas, the State of Texas, and our nation people have turned to prayer to bring healing and deliverance where human efforts have failed; and

Whereas, the Pray Dallas initiative encourages residents to pray in place, whether at home, at work, or at school, at the noon hour on August 19, 2020; and

Whereas, August 19, 2020 shall be designated as, "Pray Dallas Day,” a day of prayer and fasting for the eradication of the coronavirus from the City of Dallas; and

Whereas, the Pray Dallas initiative aims to bring all Houses of Faith together on August 19, 2020 and encourages people of all faiths to pray wherever they are at noon on this day; and

Whereas, this initiative encourages us all to unite in prayer for the eradication of the coronavirus and for healing our City; and

Now, therefore, I, Eric Johnson, Mayor of the City of Dallas, do hereby proclaim that August 19, 2020 be recognized as

Pray Dallas Day.

As Hispanic Action Network finishes 61 days of prayer we have carried the burdens of our nation to the throne of God with fervency, including the heart-breaking, tragic death of George Floyd.

We clearly stand in solidarity with our African American brothers and sisters in demanding #JusticeforGeorgeFloyd. Enough is enough. There is no room for racism nor police brutality anywhere, anytime.

This senseless death caused by these 4 individual police officers has put our nation on edge with protesting and rioting. We pray for the blue, we back the blue, we support the blue, we work with the blue and will continue to do so but this egregious act that led to the death of George Floyd is indefensible.

Having said that, this act should not taint our view of law enforcement and our fellow man because of Chauvin’s hideous actions, a man who should have lost the honor of wearing the badge long ago. So we affirm our support for those brave and courageous officers that are doing what they have been called by God to do which is to “Protect & Serve” our communities. We honor and thank you for your service.

And to the Floyd family, we mourn with you and offer our prayers, love and support.

I heard it with my own ears..I have been at #SCOTUS all this week for the landmark Louisiana case involving the state of Louisiana and whether abortion clinics should have medical professionals with admitting privileges at a local hospital and was only a few feet away from the stage when Senator #Schumer made these remarks..or should I say when he made these threats:

“I want to tell you Gorsuch, I want to tell you Kavanaugh: You have released the whirlwind, & you will pay the price. You won't know what hit you if you go forward with these awful decisions”
