Epiphany Announcement, A+D 2021
Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
the glory of the Lord has shone upon us, and shall ever manifest itself among us until the day of His return. Through the rhythms and changes of time let us call to mind and live the mysteries of salvation.
The center of the whole liturgical year is the Passion of the Lord, crucified, buried and risen, celebrated this year between the 28th of March and the 4th of April. Every Sunday, as in a weekly Easter, Christ's holy Church around the world makes present that great and saving deed by which Christ has forever conquered sin and death.
From Easter there comes forth and are reckoned all the days we keep holy: Ash Wednesday, the beginning of the Lenten spring, the 17th day of February; the Ascension of the Lord, the 13th day of May; and Pentecost, the 23rd day of May; the first Sunday of Advent, the 28th day of November.
To Christ who was, who is, and who is to come, the Lord of time and history, be endless praise forever and ever! Amen.

[09/20/20] Technical difficulties abound this morning: the church is at half power, no organ, no internet or sound system. That means no livestream. Apologies to everyone at home. We will attempt to record at least the sermon. In the meantime, today’s readings are 1 Kings 17:8-16, Galatians 5:25-6:10, Matthew 6:24-34. Sermon hymn is LSB 602.
A live recording of today's sermon hymn with (I hope) some insights into what I'm doing with the organ stanzas.
[08/11/20] An email has gone out in Pastor Douthwaite's name asking for "a favor." Please ignore!
[07/03/20] Important! Due to early voting this Sunday, members will need to use one of the entrances on the COURTYARD side of the building.
[06/21/20] Apologies for the poor sound quality on today's video. We discovered early this morning that the organ was not functioning, thus necessitating the use of the piano for accompaniment. There also seems to have been a problem with the audio input, which we had no way of knowing until the service was over. We will work to get this all fixed by next Sunday. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

It's been a strange year for the Confirmation Class of 2020. After just barely getting in the catechism before the stay-at-home order, having (getting?) to do their examinations privately over Zoom, and a delay of almost two months, this group finally confirmed their baptismal faith. We rejoice with thankful hearts and trust that, as St. Paul writes, He who began a good work in them will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ. Amen!
[05/26/20] We look forward to celebrating the faith of our confirmands this Sunday, May 31, at 10:45am!

Dear Members of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church,
Although Texans are beginning to enjoy certain freedoms again, Pastor Douthwaite, church leaders, and I think it wise to proceed cautiously with respect to public worship services, especially given the still troubling situation in Dallas County.
For now, (1) Our Redeemer will continue to offer services by livestream only, including a 9:30 Service of the Word this coming Sunday, May 3, as well as a hymn sing that same afternoon, at 1:00; (2) a schedule will be posted later today in which households may sign up to come to church and receive the Lord’s Supper in a brief, safe, outdoor service; and (3) as we watch and pray, we look forward to offering in-person services possibly as early as May 24 (the first Sunday after the proposed end of Phase 1).
The rationale and details concerning all of the above may be found here: https://mcusercontent.com/3e0f22dfc96779c9299dc0a77/files/f03604b0-3e88-45f5-8771-b54bb11f04f1/May_1_Letter_to_Congregation.02.pdf. We will continue to assess the situation from week to week and update you each Friday.
Call with anything. And Christ be your refuge and strength!
Sincerely yours,
Pastor McGuire
[04/28/20] Dear members of Our Redeemer, we know you're all anxious for an update following Gov. Abbott's announcement yesterday. We will be taking some time to think about it and roll out a plan on Friday. Thank you for your prayers and your patience.
