This past week, children age 3-6th grade attended The Holy Ten Commands 2021 Vacation Bible School at Our Redeemer. They learned that the Law is GOOD (Day 1), that the Law cannot save, but JESUS does (Day 2), that the Law STOPS sin (Day 3), that the Law SHOWS my sin (Day 4), and that the Law GUIDES me (Day 5). Thank you to all staff and volunteers! Click the link below to see some highlights from the week. Soli Deo gloria!

The peace of the Lord be with you always.

Victory in Christ,
Dear Members of Our Redeemer,
In case you didn't see the email, today's in-person Ash Wednesday services are cancelled. We hope to record a Zoom version of the service and post it later today, but this will depend on Pastor McGuire, Dr. Shewmaker, and myself all having power at the same time. We will do our best.
Stay safe and keep warm,
Dear Members of Our Redeemer,
As Pastor McGuire mentioned in the announcements on Sunday, I have written a devotional for the upcoming season of Lent. It's called "PLANTED: 40 Family-friendly Devotions Based on the Psalms for the Season of Lent." You can download the devotional as a PDF (below), or grab a hard copy the next time you're at church. The devotions begin Ash Wednesday, February 17.
There is also a podcast companion to the devotional. Visit https://planted.buzzsprout.com and subscribe wherever you get your podcasts.

Dear Members of Our Redeemer,
Due to the winter storm warning in effect for our area, we have decided to CANCEL in-person services this morning. That means that there will be NO LIVESTREAM, since we would have to be in the building to do it. However, we are recording a version of the service that will be available to watch LATER this morning. Please help spread the word to those who may not be on social media.
In the meantime, the following Bible classes will still meet on Zoom:
+ Pastor McGuire's Mark Bible Class at 9:30am
+ Pastor Douthwaite's Confirmed Youth Bible Study at 9:30am
+ PreK-2nd Grade Sunday School at 10:45am
+ 3rd-6th Grade Sunday School at 11:30am

Epiphany Announcement, A+D 2021
Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
the glory of the Lord has shone upon us, and shall ever manifest itself among us until the day of His return. Through the rhythms and changes of time let us call to mind and live the mysteries of salvation.
The center of the whole liturgical year is the Passion of the Lord, crucified, buried and risen, celebrated this year between the 28th of March and the 4th of April. Every Sunday, as in a weekly Easter, Christ's holy Church around the world makes present that great and saving deed by which Christ has forever conquered sin and death.
From Easter there comes forth and are reckoned all the days we keep holy: Ash Wednesday, the beginning of the Lenten spring, the 17th day of February; the Ascension of the Lord, the 13th day of May; and Pentecost, the 23rd day of May; the first Sunday of Advent, the 28th day of November.
To Christ who was, who is, and who is to come, the Lord of time and history, be endless praise forever and ever! Amen.

Seating will be limited. If you need help, please contact Sarah at [email protected], or call the church office at 214-368-1371. Thank you!

[09/20/20] Technical difficulties abound this morning: the church is at half power, no organ, no internet or sound system. That means no livestream. Apologies to everyone at home. We will attempt to record at least the sermon. In the meantime, today’s readings are 1 Kings 17:8-16, Galatians 5:25-6:10, Matthew 6:24-34. Sermon hymn is LSB 602.
A live recording of today's sermon hymn with (I hope) some insights into what I'm doing with the organ stanzas.
[08/11/20] An email has gone out in Pastor Douthwaite's name asking for "a favor." Please ignore!
[07/03/20] Important! Due to early voting this Sunday, members will need to use one of the entrances on the COURTYARD side of the building.
[06/21/20] Apologies for the poor sound quality on today's video. We discovered early this morning that the organ was not functioning, thus necessitating the use of the piano for accompaniment. There also seems to have been a problem with the audio input, which we had no way of knowing until the service was over. We will work to get this all fixed by next Sunday. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

It's been a strange year for the Confirmation Class of 2020. After just barely getting in the catechism before the stay-at-home order, having (getting?) to do their examinations privately over Zoom, and a delay of almost two months, this group finally confirmed their baptismal faith. We rejoice with thankful hearts and trust that, as St. Paul writes, He who began a good work in them will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ. Amen!
