Hesed International: Uganda, East Africa

Hesed Ministries is led by Michael and Florence Kyomya. The focus of the ministry is to train Christian leaders--priests, pastors, and women's ministry leaders in Uganda, East Africa.

Hesed is a small grass roots organization that is working in Uganda, East Africa to strengthen the church by training leaders. In addition, the ministry works in villages and communities to educate on nutrition, business development, and issues associated with family.

Hesed trains volunteers to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to disciple each new believer for 22 weeks in their new walk. Hesed also conducts evangelistic crusades with music and dance. Many of these events draw 2000 people and the message of Jesus is delivered to remote places.

Ordination of Priests with Bishop Michael Kyomya

Ordination of Priests with Bishop Michael Kyomya

[10/19/15]   Dear friends,

Today, I ordained 9 priests. This was a special moment for me. It's the last batch for me to ordain before I retire on January 24th next year.

I purposed from the beginning, when I became bishop, to recruit priest in the church who know the savior, Jesus Christ. Those who know the savior can lead others to the savior and nurture them to maturity and in the service of God's church. Leadership really makes a difference. So, I have been recruiting priests, who know the Lord, and today was my last batch. It is God, who works, and I am reminded of 1 Thessalonians 5:24: "He who calls you is faithful, and he will do it."

We thank God for His grace in our life and ministry. I share this, so we may rejoice together with you, our partners in the ministry.

May God bless you all indeed.

Yours in Christ,
Michael Kyomya

We had a great conference with a team from Preston Trail in Frisco, Texas.

[04/26/15]   Florence is coming to Dallas, Texas -- next week!!!

It's been quite awhile since either Michael or Florence have been to the States. While here, she would like to see and meet with as many friends and supporters as possible. I pray that you will help us leverage this opportunity. Please inbox if you have ideas or suggestions. She will be here through early June. Many, many thanks....

[03/23/15]   Learning about the donor centered fundraising model from fundraising guru Penelope Burke. So much here that I need to apply to Hesed, a really great organization that's doing *marvelous* things but whose story we want to do a better job telling.

[12/23/14]   Dear friends,

Its with great joy that I greet you all in the name of our Lord and savior Jesus Christ. We have been as many if not most people at this time of the year preparing for the holidays. As we prepare for the holidays we also are preparing to close the year and start a new one. In such times comes analysis and especially reflection.

We had some moments that at the time were nerve racking and scary and yet we can look back now and appreciate Gods providence. Michael while officiating over a funeral had a snake try and crawl up into his clothes and it was a big one. Thinking fast and looking around with no other option Michael had to jump into the very grave of the friend that had passed away. As all this was taking place other priests and reverends reacted quickly to catch him, he is well but unfortunately as far as we know so is the snake that got away!

On the morning of December 22nd 2014 we were blessed with a new grandchild. Our daughter, Christa, had a bouncing baby boy. We are grateful for this Christmas gift.

Among various achievements, we managed to register across the region over 300 womens groups that came together to improve the livelihood of their families, their communities and most importantly their spiritual health, for that we thank God.

There is always so much we all wish that we could have done differently. Its so easy to focus on what we werent able to do that we forget about all the things God enabled us to do. We can confidentially say that in our endeavors we saw compassion, felt the Spirits inspiration and maybe more importantly were driven by hope.

And so it is with great joy and expectation that we at Hesed wish you all a merry Christmas and an abundant new year. Happy holidays; may God keep and bless you and your families.

Yours in Christ,
Michael and Florence Kyomya

[07/09/14]   Kortni McCormick, Welcome!!!

[07/09/14]   Hi KaLee! Thank you for LIKING our Page! Feel free to post photos or stories!

[07/03/14]   So apparently, the local media misquoted the Uganda police. Yesterday, the papers had a headline that the Uganda police had said that Entebbee airport was not secure and was there vulnerable a terrorist attack. Today, the papers run a story saying the papers misquoted the police thereby causing unnecessary alarm. The police have said the airport is safe and there is no imminent danger. Everything is fine; in fact, when i spoke with Michael, he had not heard of a terrorist attack earning and put me on hold to see if he had missed something in the news. All to say, things seem to be well in Uganda at this time. No imminent danger.

Grateful for your care and concern for Uganda and the people you love who live there.

[06/29/14]   Florence's surgery went well yesterday. She will be in the hospital until Tuesday. Her recovery will be 8 weeks. When I spoke with her soon after the surgery, she was already telling me about upcoming plans to get out and about because there's much to do. I'm grateful for her tireless spirit, but want to pray that she accept her assignment to rest and let her body heal. Thank you for your prayers, love and care.

[06/24/14]   This coming Saturday, Florence will be undergoing surgery. The surgery will last less than an hour. Please pray that the surgery will go well and also pray for the recovery which will take 8 weeks.

Michael and Florence are ok. Florence is eager to get the surgery over and done with; she has been experiencing pain and discomfort for some time now.

Please forgive me; I don't want to display all the details here, so please inbox/message me for more information.

Two of the most amazing people I have the pleasure of knowing. Photo with Michael and Florence Kyomya taken a couple of years ago when I was home in Uganda.

A Guide to Interpreting Scripture: Context, Harmony, and Application (Hippo) Paperback
by Michael Kyomya (Author)

According to Dr. Michael Kyomya, misconceptions about what the Bible actually says can breed confusion and false ideas about God and the Christian life. Therefore, it is critically important that you know how to interpret Scripture carefully. Dr. Michael Kyomya explains what interpretation is, why it is important, how to do it, and the pitfalls to avoid. He illustrates his points with examples from his own experience and from sermons he has heard in Africa. Dr. Kyomya makes it clear that interpretation is not just something for scholars, but also is useful when preparing a sermon or a Sunday school lesson, as well as in your own personal study of the Bible. The writing is simple and clear, and the illustrations are both amusing and informative. Full of ways to enrich personal study of the Bible, this guide will equip you with the knowledge and instruction you need.

[06/19/14]   Wonderful pictures! Everyone looks so good! Bishop Michael Kyomya-This is a wonderful photo of you!

[12/18/13]   TODAY is Timothy Kyomya's Birthday! Wish him a Happy Birthday and pray for the ministry in Uganda and Rwanda!

[12/16/13]   Dear Friends and Partners,

Warm greetings in Christ! As some of you may already know, Hesed has been expanding it's borders and this Fall 2013 our son, Timothy, is in Rwanda long-term with the purpose of permanently establishing our offices and ministry there. It is our hope and prayer that in the coming months Hesed will not only reach out with the gospel but will also help uplift the poor and down trodden. We are currently involved in various church planting projects in conjunction with our local partners. Through this ministry we are also helping women acquire socio-economic skills that help them meet their family needs, and we are helping children with school fees. Help us raise $8,000 to support 25 children. We further need to raise $20,000 for our women's goat project, where we shall train rural women in goat raring skills and donate goats to uplift their lives. This will enable us reach and help 100 women.

In pursuit of these endeavours though challenges and obstacles abound, I have written to seek your help to rally behind our ministry. As you consider a Christmas gift please consider a donation to Hesed International, Rwanda.

As usual please send your gift to:

We wish you all seasons greetings, a merry Christmas and Happy New Year to come.

Yours in Christ,
Michael Kyomya
