[11/22/18]   A Prayer for Thanksgiving Day:

Almighty and gracious Father, we give you thanks for the fruits of the earth in their season and for the labors of those who harvest them. Make us, we pray, faithful stewards of your great bounty, for the provision of our necessities and the relief of all who are in need, to the glory of your Name; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Don't forget to 'fall back' tonight! Don't risk being early to church! *gasp*

The Trump Delusion: What We’re Begging for is a Renewed Church not a New Prayer Book

No comment on the political commentary, either for or against. What's interesting here is his analysis of the Episcopal Church. So one of the truly galling facts of the most recent election is that so many people voted for a candidate of a party whose policies are in direct conflict with their interests as a class. Whether …

Bishops Kill BCP Revision Amendment by Bishop Andy Doyle provides for “creation of alternative texts to offer the wider church.”

1979 Book of Common Prayer Revision Preferences

Please let the General Convention know your thoughts on what you want in a BCP, and whether or not you think they should revise it. While the House of Deputies has already passed a resolution calling for full-scale revision of the 1979 Book of Common Prayer, as yet there does not seem to be anything beyond anecdotal evidence for how different demographics in the Episcopal Church feel about this prospect. Let's help provide quant...

If you liked the Royal Wedding sermon on Saturday, go to church on Sunday

Our building isn't quite as pretty, but you'll definitely hear about and experience the love of God! Even many of the prayers will be the same. I knew it was going to be a great sermon, and I knew Bishop Michael Curry, head of the Episcopal Church in the USA, would preach about love.

It was a truly a marathon Christmas Eve to remember! Opening the morning with our usual Sunday services for the final moments of Advent, and then kicking into Christmas gear for our two evening services. The church has never looked better, thanks to all the hard work put in by some very committed people. Your labors of love made our time together very special, and our attendance was up a bit compared to last year. Merry Christmas to all! Looking forward to seeing you all again this Sunday.

Christmas Eve 2017

We had a great time caroling this past Sunday afternoon, visiting a local hospital and some of our beloved shut-ins. Happy Advent to everyone!

Busy weekend at St Christopher’s! Cleaning up the grounds on Saturday, and had lots of little helpers and friends from the preschool. Thanks for chipping in! Followed by Thanks+Giving on Sunday after church, the highlight of our Fall stewardship campaign. We’re grateful for all who pledged to invest in our parish for the coming year.

This is Beautiful!

The first Yahrzeit (anniversary of the passing) of Leonard Cohen, one of the greatest Jewish poet-songwriters of the 20th century, will be observed on November 7th 2017.
As a tribute to his legacy, here is one of his most famous songs, Hallelujah, with the Hebrew lyrics of Psalm 150 which is recited daily in Jewish prayer.
May the memory of Leonard Cohen be for an eternal blessing.
