My BrotherinLawJames MeRoberson Passed Memorial service Tuesday at1 PM at Golden Gate furnal home. Tha Uncle of Kenisa Alexis Jaylen. Love.
It's so amusing to watch the Trump base with him now in the White House and their "Make America White and Protestant Again" hopes now collapsing in chaos about them as their beloved "Christian" leader proves to be the king of chronic liars and they now reject objective truth, embracing desperately the dark worldly political realm of "alternative facts." I continue to find it very hard to believe at least 70% of our brethren in the Church of Christ could have been swept up in this worldly false religious confusion, fear, and hate. Have they really completely forgotten that the Church of Christ differs most from all worldly religions in that we, the spiritual kingdom of God, are about the truth and serve a Lord who was the word of God become flesh.
Missing U all. Home not feeling well. Love. Prayer please.
Marriage for a Christian, just like all other moral considerations, is a very different thing than it is for other citizens of this or any nation. The laws of marriage of any earthly government and the laws of God for Christians are two very different things, though in no way are they in conflict. For example, the law of God regarding alcohol and drunkenness is very different from the law of the government of our land, but our government in no way makes us take a drink against our will. In the same way, though the law of our land allows divorce and remarriage for any cause, the law of God for Christians does not, but the much more permissive law of divorce and remarriage in our nation does not make us disobey God and commit adultery. The law of the land in this and all other cases does not keep us from following the will of God. The laws of our land allow adultery, fornication, drunkenness, gambling, abortion, pornography, greed, gluttony, homosexuality, and other private sins of our American neighbors that do not harm the peace and order of our neighborhoods. Those laws of the land, however, do not infringe on our rights to obey the will of God. We can never expect the two different systems of laws to be the same. They each serve very different purposes. The laws of the lands in which we live are only meant by God to keep earthly law and order, Romans 13:1-5. The spiritual laws of God only meant for Christians, on the the other hand, are our spiritual guide to eternal life with God and can never be kept by any earthly government. I believe those of our brethren that have become part of a worldly religious holy crusade to combine these two systems of laws these last several decades have caused much confusion, division, and harm to the good name of the Lord's Church in our nation. That today can clearly be seen in the indecent, chronic liar they have elected to the White House in the false belief he is the chosen instrument of God to "return our nation to God" by making our nation white and Protestant again in direct rebellion against our nation's 241 year old secular constitutional democracy.
The answer to how so many of our brethren have fallen so far as to become Trump supporters religiously is their prejudice and bigotry has driven them in desperation to believe Trump is their last hope to "Make America White and Protestant Again" by dragging our nation back to the 1950s, before the Civil Rights Act, and their last hope to fulfill their obsession with government control of our non-Christian neighbors private sex lives.
I just talked to Sis Wendy Crowe she asked me to pass along encouraging NEW things are improved, no fever spikes. Let us keep prayers going for Tony that God will heal him so that he will have a Mighty Testimony giving All Glory and Honor to our God.
I'm thankful to God in our nation conservative Protestant misunderstandings of God's truths is no longer unconstitutionally forced upon all Americans with little or no respect for others religious freedom. Their failure in their resulting unjust rebellion against our nation this last year and a half has really shown them for what they really are.
FYI I know many members use I-35 to get to/from church, here is a traffic construction update. Full closures of NB & SB I-35E at 8th St. still in effect today. Traffic continues to be detoured to the frontage roads. Drivers advised to plan commutes ahead of time. For more details, view map attachment.
I have to say thank you to Marsalis Ave. Church . You have been a blessing in difficult times. This year has been hard to my family and my island in general and you helped when most needed. Here some pics of your donation beeing sent there after the hurricane. Thanks from the bottom on my heart.
Tonight I’m praying for pastors, ministers, and people with vision that often feel unsupported and under appreciated. I pray that God will send you Aaron’s and Hur’s to lift up your hands when you can no longer lift them (Exodus 17:12). I pray for the one who is considering giving up on their vision because what God has shown you is greater than what you currently see. Be encouraged today and endure the process. God sees you. He hears you. You’ve come too far to give up. It’s worth the wait! ❤️
This is a great event for teenage girls!

What Moves God? ✨✨
2 Samuel 21:14

The Bible tells us 4 times in scripture what moves God.
Each time it is prayer

When God moves, miracles happen

Prayer moves God ✨✨✨

• To give His people blessings and victory

There are times in our lives, where we have to tie up loose ends so that we can be blessed

• There are some people you need to forgive

• There are some relationship issues you need to resolve

• There are some sins you need to confess and abandon

When you tie up loose ends, don’t be surprised if God blesses your life

II Samuel 24:15-18; 25

v.25, the Lord was moved by prayer again.

David agreed to the pestilence of 3 days because he would rather be in the hands of God versus the hands of evil men.

Even in the midst of God exercising His justice He is merciful

Prayer moves God to stop whatever is hurting His people

What would happen in our land if we really prayed for some of the problems in it?

The conditions of the land should move us to pray for the land

When we pray for the land, God moves upon the land and brings healing upon it

II Chronicles 33:10-13

God is the best parent, when we don’t listen to words that is when we get a whipping

You are never too bad to pray to God, and the situation is not too bad to pray about

When you start walking with the Lord, don’t be surprised when he restores what was lost to you.

**Pray to God, cry out to him and watch him work!

You do not have to be perfect to pray.
Humble yourself and pray!

The Ministry of Jesus

These are 3 attributes that His followers should imitate when following Jesus. Please read and share. Let's start imitating our Lord to the fullest every minute, every hour and every day. To be a disciple of Christ means that we study Him, follow Him, and imitate Him. In studying His ministry, there are three attributes that stand out. Jesus was bold, mission-minded and faithful...

The Prayers of the Saints
Scripture Revelation 8:1-5

Introduction -There may be times in our Christian walk when we question the effectiveness of prayer.

Unanswered prayers can contribute to someone walking away from the faith. It can cause one to question the very existence of God.

In the book of Revelation it paints a powerful and encouraging picture that gives us insight into the realities in heaven when it comes to our prayers.

Revelations it’s a book of hope.
Its central message is the victory of Jesus and the victory in Jesus.

We exist in this time between "already" and "not yet". There are some realities in heaven that have yet to be realized on earth.

The prayers of the Saints are an offering to God. **Psalm141: 1,2 Lord, I cry out to you...let my prayers be counted as incense, a fragrant declaration of his allegiance to God

The prayers of the Saints cry out to God.
On the earth, the martyrs were found guilty of rebellion against the principalities and powers. Now they are waiting for God to judge those who killed them.

God declares these martyrs as innocent, overturning the guilty verdicts pronounced on them by the world, like He did for Jesus. (In those moments of frustration and unrest, we must ensure in the power of the Holy spirit because God has already promised us the victory.)

The prayers of the Saints are answered by God.
God has been judging the world throughout history. He will administer His final judgment when Christ returns.

Prayer is the engine driving the plan of God toward completion, prayers of the saints are the spark for divine intervention.

✨Just because we dont hear from heaven, that doesn't mean that heaven doesn't hear us.
✨Just because God is silent, it doesn't mean God is being still...silence is an indication of something more is coming.

Your prayers have NOT been lost. They're not in God's spam folder...they are STILL working, they are on the alter before the throne of God, until he acts on them.

✨He WILL cast judgment on those who have cursed his people, those who have oppressed, those who denied him...

He answers prayers so DON'T stop praying! #ThePrayersoftheSaints

Bear With One Another

Minister Lamont Ross wrote in his "Reflections" that bearing with one another is the practical expression of patience. Please read and share. Parents Corner:

Great tip before kids return back to school. Backpacks can harbor contaminants that can be harmful to your child and make them sick.

Our Mission Team in Zimbabwe at the Avondale church of Christ.

Start Fresh:

Thank God for the blessing of a New Year. Many people anticipate the New Year because it provides an opportunity to put the past behind them and start fresh. Some people hope that the blessings and good fortune of 2019 follow them into 2020. Others hope that the 2020 is nothing like their 2019. As New Year gets started, I want to suggest three things that we can do all year as we seek to have a remarkable 2020.

Pray. Prayer is so simple, yet so powerful. It is readily available, yet often neglected. Scripture teaches us that communication with God is essential to overcoming life’s obstacles, conquering sin, healing from hurts, staying focused. Through prayer, we gain strength for our journey of becoming better Christians, parents, children, singles, spouses, and citizens. Never stop praying and don’t forget to thank God when you pray (1 Thessalonians 5:17-18).
Expect the Unexpected. Sometimes you can wear shorts on Christmas Day, and sometimes there is an ice storm in April. Just like Texas weather, life is unpredictable. Many people have a difficult time coping when the way that things are in their lives aren’t the way the thought they would be. We cannot control what other
people do. We can, however, control how we react and respond to what they do. We cannot accurately predict sickness or death. However, we determine whether we will trust God or turn away from Him. Expect to be presented with opportunities to prosper in 2020. But don’t be surprised with your faith is tested and you are encouraged to curse God and die. (see Philippians 4:11-13)
Live out of Love. We reap what we sow. If we live out of love, love will be given back to us. The blessings of God are with those who love Him with all of their heart, mind, soul, and strength. God is with those who love others as they love themselves. Don’t close your heart to others. Whatever you do, show God’s love (1 Corinthians 13:4-7).

"Making it on Broken Pieces"
Acts 27:39-44

Your life may be going smoothly then a rough wind hits...a hurricane. Sometimes we get inpatient, we leave an uncomfortable place, a job, a marriage, etc... thinking the next move will be better...then you discover that next move is worse than the past situation.
• Lessons from Broken Pieces
*We desire control, but so much of life is out of our control.
*Storms require adjustments. Lack of control and direction leads to a gradual disipation of hope
Acts 27:21-26, Paul and the men had been at sea 14 days without food. Paul reminded them that the same God who didn't want them to sail, in spite of the ship being destroyed, that same God was STILL present.

***Can you withstand the storm?
* Remove the temptations around you that will prevent you from following God's plan.
--Working extra hours at work to avoid going home, drinking alcohol, using drugs, having a "side piece" to escape your storm is worse than actually going through your storm.

*We try to escape the storm when the Lord wants us to endure the storm.

***You may be depressed and not "eating," but God needs you "to eat" so you can be ready for what's next. Meditate daily and read his word...the storm won't kill you, but starving your soul will.

***Other people are watching and looking to you for inspiration. It will encourage them to keep praying, keep singing, and keep studying.
Family, friends, neighbors are watching you to see your reaction while "in the storm."

***Praise God for broken pieces. Just hold on...You may have lost your job, but not your house... You may have lost your health but not your mind.

***The storm has brought you closer to where God wants you to be.

Acts 27:39-44
Lamont Ross, Senior Minister

The Magi asked King Herod to point them to the real king. The gifts were not for Herod. They did not bow down to Herod. They bowed down to the one who was worthy of their worship and gave Him gifts. We worship Christ understanding that He is the Great I am. He is not just the Son of God, but He is God the Son. We worship understanding His purpose of healing the brokenhearted, setting the captives free and saving man from his sins. We worship Him because He is worthy!

#HolidaySurvivalTips ✨

The holiday season can bring an increased sense of family responsibility and, along with it, additional feelings of stress. Advertisements about the joys of the season can seem lost on us as we scurry around trying to do even more than usual. It’s easy to feel overwhelmed. Consider the ideas below to help keep the meaning of the holiday season 🎄🎄

1. Strengthen social connections – We know that strong, supportive relationships help us manage all kinds of challenges. So, we can view the holidays as a time to reconnect with the positive people in our lives. Accepting help and support from those who care about us can help alleviate stress. Also, volunteering at a local charity or on our own or with family can be another way to make connections; helping others often makes us feel better, too.

2. Set expectations – It is helpful to set realistic expectations for gifts and holiday activities. Depending on a child's age, we can use this opportunity to teach kids about the value of money and responsible spending. We need to remember to pare down our own expectations, too. Instead of trying to take on everything, we need to identify the most important holiday tasks and take small concrete steps to accomplish them. Keep things in perspective. There will be time after the holiday season to follow up or do more of things we’ve overlooked or did not have the time to do during the holidays.

3. Take care of yourself – It is important that we pay attention to our own needs and feelings during the holiday season. We can find fun, enjoyable and relaxing activities for ourselves and our families. By keeping our minds and bodies healthy, we are primed to deal with stressful situations when they arise. Consider cutting back television viewing for kids and getting the family out together for fresh air. Physical activity can help us feel better and sleep well.

Connect to God, Connect to Church and Connect to the World.

With church buildings located every few blocks and with nearly 1,200 different religious groups recognized by the IRS as tax exempt, one can easily live in a community and not know much about any particular religious movement called a church. This article however, is intended to introduce you a fellowship of believers known as congregations of the Churches of Christ (Romans 16:16)

The Church of Christ is a distinct fellowship of believers who are bound together by their common relationship to Jesus. Our central concern is to follow our Master in every detail of life and faith. We believe the heart of God is most vividly portrayed in the sacrifice of his son on the cross. The death of Jesus on the cross and his resurrection form the fundamental doctrines of our faith. Through his death we obtain forgiveness of our sins, and through his resurrection we receive the promise of eternal life.
