“We all have something within us that our world needs”
On Monday, @citysquare_americorps and the North Texas National Service Alliance led an incredible service day at Owenwood. 200 volunteers gathered to tackle 5 projects at Owenwood and at S S Conner Elementary. Volunteers assembled hygiene kits and paperwork packets for the Homelessness Point in Time Count 2020. They painted words of inspiration at S S Conner Elementary School and created works of art inspired by Dr. King's legacy. They also worked on the farm, community garden, and our nursery areas. Thank you to everyone who helped make this possible! @ Owenwood Farm & Neighbor Space

Some look at Far East Dallas and just see the great need in a community that has historically been underserved. Though the need is great, we believe filling those gaps isn’t enough. For people to flourish, they need opportunities to discover themselves, their gifts and their voice. But this work can’t be done alone. It takes a village of people to see this community and believe it can and should be more. Which is why we are so grateful for these people. They are the board of the @quadwfoundation who have committed 250k annually for the next 3 years. They believe in our work, they witnessed the incredible impact already happening and are excited to see what what new assets we will discover in the future. Thank you Quad W, your support means more than you know - Pastor Josh

We mourn our sister, Muhlaysia Booker, murdered on the streets of Dallas. And we pray God’s healing and guidance for our city. We have so much to learn from one another’s experiences, so much more of God’s mystery to consider. Let us remember our fight for inclusion in the church is not simply theological, it’s about safety for our queer siblings.
Meet Barbara. She is a true bundle of positive energy every time she shows up. She greets people like old friends. She has a noticeable gift for empathy for others. And this blanket is a testimony to all of that ⬆️.
At the diaper bank, there is one guest (among the many) that Barbara greets each month. This guest doesn't speak English. Barbara doesn't speak Spanish. But they made a connection. This guest came to know Barbara's love for cats and one Saturday gifted her this blanket.
And this is what we hope to continue to see each month. Building relationships and making friends! You know Barbara now, come visit Saturday and say hello 😀.
Tomorrow night at 7pm! We will talk about death, and the negative narrative death carries in society. Could it be more? Come hang out and find out!
