Catholic Diocese of Dallas

Statement regarding Masses for the weekend of April 25/26

Public Masses and gatherings will not resume this weekend at churches in the Diocese of Dallas. The health and safety of parishioners and the community at large are priorities of Bishop Edward Burns. The bishop is staying steadfast with his decree issued March 31st indicating that churches are closed through the end of this month.

A new decree will be announced after details of the Governor’s next statement can be considered. The bishop will consider information from medical experts and government officials before consulting with the diocese’s priest advisory council in coming to a decision on the best time and way to resume public services.

To see the decree issued March 31, visit: https://www.cathdal.org/covid19-home/additional-decree-by-bishop-edward-j-burns-and-holy-week-guidelines?send_to=%2F

Catholic Diocese of Dallas

In light of the continued rise in the number of flu cases and concerns about the coronavirus (COVID-19), the Diocese of Dallas is taking the following precautions.

* Please stay home if you are sick or are experiencing symptoms. If you are ill, you are not bound by the obligation to attend Mass, including on Sunday. Out of charity to others, sick individuals should not attend Mass or other liturgical events.

* Distribution of the Precious Blood from the chalice is suspended until further notice.

* The Sign of Peace is temporarily suspended. After the Our Father and Prayer of Peace by the priest, the Lamb of God will follow immediately.

* We do not encourage the holding of hands during Mass.

* If applicable, please strongly consider receiving Communion in your hand rather than on the tongue.

The Diocese continues to be in touch with state and local health authorities and will alter these directives as needed. Please let us continue to pray for all who are sick and affected by this virus.

[02/05/20]   James 2:24

“You see that a person is considered righteous by what they do and not by faith alone.”

This quote reminds me of why I rejoined Thieu Nhi. I left Thieu Nhi around my first year in college, just because most of my friends left to go to college. However, after a year or so, I felt that my connection with God was growing weak. Like, I was not doing anything for my church other than attending mass. So I joined Thieu Nhi again with the goal of growing my faith with God. And secondly, I wanted to give back to Thieu Nhi for what they taught me during my childhood.

Remember too like and share God bless! 🙏

[01/29/20]   Philippians 4:13

“ I can do all this through him who gives me strength.”

Upon reading this verse I immediately felt as if God was speaking directly to me. I am facing upon a new adventure in my life, where honestly I don’t know where it would take me. Like any new business there’s so much risks, challenges, and obstacles to overcome. I’m afraid of failing, making mistakes, and not succeeding. However the more I reflect upon this passage, I feel more strengthen and empowered by Him. It’s a reminder for me to know that I am not alone and that God is always within me. Whatever the outcome of this journey may be, I know that I can not do this on my own and with Him anything is possible.

Remember too like and share God bless! 🙏

[01/22/20]   Hebrews 11:1

“Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.”

I feel like everyday, life gets more challenging. I like this quote because I know that my faith in God will help me take upon any task. I am always confident and hopeful in all my decisions but as we all know, life is never as it seems. Particularly in these moments of my life. I feel like work, health, finances, etc... are always in a state of uncertainty. Maintaining faith has helped and has continue to help me ease my thoughts and allows me to secure assurance. I think too much and I dislike it. Truly trusting God has allowed my inner thoughts to calm down. No longer do I fear the future because I know that God will provide.

Remember too like and share God bless! 🙏

Pro Life March - 1/18/20

[01/15/20]   John 3:16
"For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him might not perish but might have eternal life."

The first time I heard this quote was during mass in 2nd grade when my classmates and I were singing this at the top of our lungs, strictly to praise God. This quote holds a special place in my heart because it is also the only quote that has stayed and grown with me even to this day. At 2nd grade, it was there to remind me that God would do anything it would take, even at the cost of his own Son for me. Moving into the beginning of high school, in which I had to step into an environment that was new to me for the first time; It reminded me that Jesus is there for me. And even now at a turning point in my life; It reminds me that no matter what happens my life I have FAITH in him that I will never fail. This quote that I live by, teaches to take all actions based on FAITH, and everything else will be taken care of.

Remember too like and share God bless! 🙏
