NorthPark Presbyterian Church

Welcoming Thinkers, Seekers, and Doers. Member Presbyterian Church (USA). NorthPark Presbyterian Church was organized in 1867 as the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

We were the first Presbyterian Church and the second house of worship built in Dallas. We have moved five times over the last one hundred and forty five years. However we have carried the stained glass windows in our current sanctuary with us and they date back to 1917. As you enter the sanctuary, you will notice that the stained-glass window at the back of the sanctuary depicts Jesus Christ with open arms. This window was purposefully placed at the back of the sanctuary instead of the front to indicate Jesus’ invitation to not get too comfortable inside, but instead to go out into God’s world performing acts of justice and mission. While we have a long history of excellent Christian education, music, and worship, God’s call to be involved in mission is pivotal to our identity. We support thirteen different social service agencies with time, talent, and money, house an Alzhiemer’s respite program, have regular missions events and trips including an adult mission trip to Kenya. One-tenth of our membership is originally from Africa and as a part of our Capital Campaign in 2010 we committed to building an eye clinic in Africa. We have also recently started several new mission initiatives in the Vickery Meadow area of Dallas including a homeless prevention program. We hope that you find this to be a place of hospitality, grace, and inspiration in the time that you are here. We look forward to worshiping with you. Grace and peace.

The SoulFood Greenhouse just passed 10,000 pounds so far this season, and we have 2 more months of harvesting to go!

We serve 6 food pantries on a weekly basis, and this year we have partnered with a new nonprofit in South Dallas called the Oak Cliff Veggie Project.

Thanks to our amazing volunteers who keep us growing each week! “Feed my sheep.” John 21:17

Again & Again, the Sun Rises

Happy Easter and welcome to NorthPark!

On the first day of the week, the women rise with the sun and buy spices to anoint Jesus’ body. They are shocked to find the tomb empty, and leave in fear and terror. In Mark’s version of the resurrection, we are reminded that Easter comes to us, again and again, even if we don’t know what to make of God’s resurrection ways. Again and again, the sun rises. And some days, that is enough.

Please feel free to download today’s worship guide athttps://files.constantcontact.com/53924e01101/33dcf0c6-5976-4817-8105-a757d9abb9c8.pdf

Without a weekly in-person offering, the church relies on your generosity through online giving and offerings sent by mail. Checks may be mailed to NorthPark Presbyterian Church; P.O. Box 515454; Dallas, TX 75251-5454. Online gifts may be given at onrealm.org/NorthparkPresby/give/now. Click on the line that shows pledge payments to display options for your donations.

In addition to today’s regular offering, also being collected are gifts to One Great Hour of Sharing, which help sustain PC(USA) programs that provide disaster relief, food, and clean water to people all over the world. If giving to this special offering, please write “One Great Hour” on your check’s subject line.

Please note that today’s Virtual Coffee Hour via Zoom conference call has been cancelled.

NorthPark's office will be closed on tomorrow, Monday, April 5 in observance of the Easter holiday. Monday's eNews will resume Tuesday, April 6.

… Again and again, the sun rises on a new day, often without embrace or acknowledgment. The same is true of resurrection. Whether or not we discern what’s happening, God is literally and figuratively turning the world around!”

These words were stitched onto a flag that flew outside the Manhattan headquarters of the NAACP between 1920 and 1938. When a Black person was lynched, the flag was raised the following day…

Our Story
