THIS SUNDAY is the last Community Listening Workshop is happening! Have you registered?
•
We are in an interim season where there are lots of decisions to be made, one of the bigger ones who will take the new position of leading this organization and faith community. That's why we set up these workshops: to hear the hopes and fears that you have for LIDE as a faith community members. When we share our hopes and fears with one another and listen to the Spirit while we talk, we are able to unify around the things that matter and move forward as one body.
•
We can't wait to hear from you.

The LIDE Band is in full rehearsal swing for this year's rescheduled Sept 12 Deep Ellum Arts Festival service.

Every year, the Deep Ellum Arts Festival invites LIDE to host our Gathering service on the Main St. stage on the Sunday of our festival weekend.

Some might think belting out worship songs and taking communion in the same space we eat hot dogs, buy art, and drink beer might sound weird, but we think it's rad.

Mark your calendars! Sept 10-12, Deep Ellum Arts Festival....in the Fall!

A Beautiful Story: What Went Wrong?

Welcome to The Gathering!

Photos from Life In Deep Ellum's post 08/10/2021

The story of Life in Deep Ellum is a beautiful one with lots of twists that God isn't surprised by and turns that God is always ahead of. Right now, as we sink deeper into the healing God has for us, it's important to remember that a big part of our healing as a community is going to be found between our calendars, our time and our desire to work together to restore the vibrancy and life of our community through volunteering and service.

For the next four weeks, we are focusing on building our volunteer teams for the 2021-2022 year. We have a group of Ministry Team Leaders who have stepped up and are excited and ready to receive you, train you (if need be), and plug you in to an active role of contributing to what happens here at LIDE.

In a way, the Umbrella Man on the outside of our building covers this space where our stories intersect and we gather together in curiosity, to discover how God is involved. That's what volunteering here is all about...especially this year. Our stories intersecting. Plugging in and contributing to the story of LIDE in 2021 and being curious about how God will use that experience in your own story this year.

So bring yourself, your truest you, because as we contribute, we'll look back and find that we have restored a community together. Not one person will have done it on their own and we'll be stronger for it. Plus, it's fun! If we're volunteering and not having fun doing it, we're doing it wrong. Let's play and put our relationships into action by signing up this month to volunteer for the next year in some capacity.

Gathering Live Stream - Life in Deep Ellum

Our faith community meets together every Sunday in a service called The Gathering. While we have services in person, we also offer live stream of each service. Every Sunday at 11a, we use this platform to provide spiritual space for those who cannot come in person yet for any number of reasons. If you'd like to access our past Gathering services, visit our website here.

It's important that we take time, as curious citizens and open hearted Christ followers, to look behind the concepts that rule our understanding of the AAPI community in order to discover the real stories and realities of this beautiful people. Eclectic and varied in all of its diversity, the AAPI community blooms among us. The AAPI community IS us.

Loh-Sze Leung, thank you for joining us this morning and sharing about your history and your heart for this community. Your patient wisdom and care in your responses is felt and seen. Grateful for you.

Hey LIDE Folks!

Well, so much for a rainy day! We cancelled the outdoor service yesterday anticipating a difficult morning of setup with our equipment. Obviously, today's weather is a little different than we expected!

But that's ok. Even though we're not meeting together, we hope you take this as an opportunity anyway. God's loving presence is always with us. Whether we are together or apart, God connects and sustains our community. So today, we want to encourage you to pay attention -- to actively look for where God is at work in your life. Some small things you can do:

 Read a passage of Scripture alone or with family/friends. Reading out loud is a great way to engage with this ancient literature! No need to analyze -- just read 📖
 Take 5-10 minutes to pray the Daily Examen 🙏🏼
 Take a walk in nature, and pay special attention to where God is at work (White Rock Lake is a good place if you can't think of one) ☀️
 Intentionally listen to a couple of hymns or worship songs to set your intention for the day 🎶

Whatever you do, we hope you'll experience God's presence this morning. We look forward to seeing you (in person or online) next week for our first indoor service!

Tenebrae 2021

Tenebrae 2021
A digital service curated just for the Gathering faith community. The word Tenebrae is Latin for "shadows" or "darkness." It can also be translated as "night" or "death," and for this reason is often known as the "Service of Shadows." Our Tenebrae service includes seven readings of the trial, sentencing, ex*****on, death and burial of Jesus. After each segment of the story is read, a candle is extinguished. The extinguishing of the last candle indicating the effect of the death of Jesus on the universe.

Afterwards, we reflect on Paul's words to the Philippians:
"I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, and so, somehow, attaining to the resurrection from the dead." Phil. 3:10-11

[03/13/21]   This week, join us as Marcell Steuernagel helps us explore a difficult section of Job: God's response to Job's questions and friends.

Sunday Watch Party, 3/7, 11a. 𝓣𝓱𝓲𝓼 𝔀𝓮𝓮𝓴: Daniela Coats speaks about Job's protests.

Daniela Coats has served in the Kids Gathering, Hospitality team and was an usher with her hunky husband, Aaron Coats, before there was even an official team! 😆 Daniela looks back at her childhood with fondness and joy having grown up in a family who values celebrating small moments together and being life-long learners of Scripture and the world around them. She's a self-proclaimed recovering perfectionist and finds it laughable and comforting to know that life is unpredictable and surprising.🌟

Daniela's concern for those in less than fortunate circumstances has led her into a helping profession where she can tangibly empower those in need to move forward in life. You'll usually see her with 5 little ones and 1 other adult in tow 😅 We're honored to have Daniela share with us in this week's Gathering service.

Sunday Watch Party, 2/28, 11a. 𝓣𝓱𝓲𝓼 𝔀𝓮𝓮𝓴: Jeremy Tillman speaks about Job and his friends.

Jeremy Tillman serves on the Board of Life in Deep Ellum. When he shares his story, you get to witness a boy doting on his mother amidst the confusion of substance abuse and poverty, a young man learning through failed solutions and obstacles overcome, someone whose resilience and dissatisfaction with "the norm" has led him through a successful education and into the world of entrepreneurship. 🌟

Jeremy has founded TrainUp.com, which has empowered growth in tens of thousands of companies. He lives a life that is striving to always learn more and be more. The positivity he carries has been with him since childhood as he seeks to serve those around him with a sincere heart.
