St Jude Chapel: An Oasis of Hope http://www.stjudechapel.com

Saint Jude Chapel, located in the heart of downtown Dallas, has been serving in ministry to the business community and the Diocese of Dallas at large for 45 years. Dedicated on September 15, 1968, the chapel is the full realization of a dream nurtured in the loving hearts of Rev. Arthur C. Hughes and friends for more than a quarter of a century. St. Jude Chapel maintains a quiet, peaceful, meditative environment in the presense of Jesus Christ in the Most Blessed Sacrament. Stained glass windows are provided with illuminated panels depicting the Stations of the Cross. The illuminated panels create an illusion of sunlight, and the chapel takes on a breadth greater than its actual dimensions. The cathedral sweep of the chapel ceiling is crowned with a stained glass skylight. People come and go at will throughout the day. Office workers and guests of the downtown hotels hurry to attend the daily Masses and confession. The Pastoral Staff is on hand to counsel, assist and console, nurturing the faithful through the Sacrament of Penance, the Holy Eucharist, and Anointing of the Sick. Generous hearted, dedicated volunteers are present to answer telephones, keep records, set up appointments, and assist those seeking information.

[06/14/20]   Happy Sunday! We miss everyone here at the Chapel. You all are invited to attend weekly Mass at noon on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Please let us know if you would like to attend. St. Jude Pray for us!

[06/01/20]   We wanted to update everyone. Myself and our staff are okay. Our Chapel doors were damaged. We are open and downtown is safe during the day. Please visit with us and attend Mass. Declaration of Independence: July 4, 1776

July 4th, Independence Day, is an American national holiday. This holiday gives us time to thank God for the birth of our nation and give thanks for gift of life and petition God to preserve our country and rid it of its evils. This month holds for Americans the celebration of our glorious Fourth, Independence Day, a great national holiday not connected with the feast of a saint (as is Saint Andrew’s Day in Scotland and Saint George's in England), or with a festival of the Church. The Yoke of Christ is a Bond of Love

Before there was history, people had the same hardships of life to face as we have, and even greater ones. They earned their daily bread with the sweat of brow and body. Their illnesses were more frequent and less bearable than ours, for they had not the medical helps that we have. Death came to young and old then as it does now, but for them it was a final parting from loved ones, and no hope of a future happy meeting served to lighten their sorrow. [ 369 more words ]

Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus

This Friday, the third Friday after Pentecost is the Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus. Although the revelations to St. Margaret Mary of Alacoque in the 17th century promoted this devotion, the origins of the honoring of Jesus and His love for man trace back to Scripture and many other saints and sacred writings throughout the history of the Church. Corpus Christi Sunday

While they were eating, he took bread, said the blessing, broke it, gave it to them, and said, "Take it; this is my body." Then he took a cup, gave thanks, and gave it to them, and they all drank from it. He said to them, "This is my blood of the covenant, which will be shed for many." Corpus Christi (Body and Blood of Christ) is a Eucharistic solemnity, or better, the solemn commemoration of the institution of that sacrament. [ 496 more words ]

Which is which? Devotion to the Sacred Heart or to The Divine Mercy

To the naked eye, there seems to be a waning of public devotion to the Sacred Heart, with more emphasis on the devotion to the Divine Mercy. The devotions do not have competition. Both devotions are connected to the same Heart of Christ and speak of His love and mercy. The devotion to the Sacred Heart calls for reparation of sin, and the devotion should lead us to a deeper understanding of His infinite love and mercy for us. [ 118 more words ]

Feast of the Most Holy Trinity

The fundamental dogma, on which everything in Christianity is based, is that of the Blessed Trinity in whose name all Christians are baptized. The feast of the Blessed Trinity needs to be understood and celebrated as a prolongation of the mysteries of Christ and as the solemn expression of our faith in this triune life of the Divine Persons, to which we have been given access by Baptism and by the Redemption won for us by Christ.
