My heart is full of thanksgiving today for my church and my church family! I am thankful for our pastor who faithfully and boldly preaches God’s Word and for my church family who sacrificially loves and serves others with joy. Reading this passage this morning with thanksgiving in my heart for Christ, my Savior and for my church, whose desire is to bring glory to God ~ “Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.” Colossians 3:15-17

Good afternoon Everybody, we will have another church work day on September 2 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 in the afternoon, we will be doing some trimming of hedges along with some other fun things, if you can make it come help us out we can use all the help we can get.
I want to say thank you too all those who came and helped with the cleaning today. We ended getting more work done than expected, the LORD really blessed the work of our hands. I really enjoyed serving with my fellow brothers and sisters doing some basic house cleaning, thanks again for all the hard work.

Our vision is to be a multiethnic church, together pursuing the glory of God through worship, community, and disciple-making among all nations.

At Preston Highlands Baptist Church, we’re about three things: God, Community, and Mission. God comes first because in the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, we find salvation, acceptance, and new life. Community comes next because God’s love for us in Christ makes us a new people. Being reconciled to God makes us reconciled to each other. Mission comes next because God’s love drives his people out as messengers of his grace and mercy. We invite you to visit with us and participate in the work that God is doing in us and through us.

As you probably know, we are beginning Phase One of gathering again this weekend. We will meet for worship tomorrow (6/7), at 10:30am. We recognize that not everyone will feel comfortable gathering right away (or anytime soon), and that’s okay. We will thus continue to provide a Home Worship Guide for those unable or uncomfortable with gathering. You can find the guide here:
www.prestonhighlands.org.

As we get closer to our anticipated regathering as a church on June 7th, I wanted to explain in this week's video the biblical rationale that Nick and I took as we made this decision. I also wanted to talk about the importance of gathering as a church and how that relates to concerns about safety.

I hope that this video is helpful to those ends, and I'd ask that you be praying for our regathering on June 7th.

With love,

Pastor John

Discussion Questions
1) Why is the reliability of the New Testament important?
2) Why are the autographs, or original manuscripts of the Bible, inspired and inerrant and not the copies we have of them?
3) What is textual criticism and why is it important?
4) What doubts or questions have you had about the Bible? How have you worked through them? Give examples of how you have helped others work through similar doubts.
5) Have you ever considered the truthfulness of the long ending of Mark? Do you think Mark wrote it? Why or why not?
6) Why are the appearances of Jesus after his resurrection important?
7) Do you struggle with evangelism? How has the resurrection of Jesus affected your desires to spread his Word?

Hello all,

This weekend, like every weekend, we have the opportunity to pause and reflect on the person and work of Jesus. To that end, you can find a Home Worship Guide at www.prestonhighlands.org to aid your worship this Lord's Day.

Jesus was crucified, buried, and risen to reveal the glory of God and save the people of God. May we honor him well in our homes this weekend.

With love and longing to be with you for worship again soon,

Pastor John

Home Worship Guide, 4-5-20.pdf

Hello all,

To help you worship on Sunday, I've created a "Home Worship Guide" (see link below). It contains links to songs, scriptures, the sermon, and online giving. It also has discussion questions for you to consider.

Feel free to add to or subtract from what you find here, and remember that worship should be led by the head of the household.

As you worship Jesus this Sunday, remember that saints from every age and place have done this since Jesus ascended to heaven. If you find yourself in isolation, know that your brothers and sisters in Christ are worshipping with you from afar.

With you, in love,
Pastor John

Mark 15:1-15 | "Unfairness for Unfairness"

I pray that this message finds you well. My hope and prayer is that you will set aside time tomorrow to worship with your family/spouse/roommate/a few church members or friends. Sing together, read Scripture together, pray together, and listen to the sermon together and then discuss it together. We may not be having church, but we can still seek the Lord together with those closest to us.

Here is the link for this week's sermon:

Here are Scriptures to read together:

Isaiah 53:1-7
John 18:28-19:16
Acts 4:23-28
1 Peter 2:21-25

Here are questions for reflection/discussion:

1) What does God owe you?

2) How do you usually respond when you're wrongfully accused? How did
Jesus respond (v. 5)?

3) How do we know when to defend ourselves and when to remain silent?

4) With the extra down time you have, are you watching, listening to, or
reading good biblical content? How can you know who to listen to?

5) Why did Pilate hesitate to execute Jesus? And why did he follow
through with it?

6) Read Romans 8:32. What does this verse teach us?

It's surreal to think that we're not meeting together tomorrow, and likely won't be for several more weeks. I miss you and can't wait to be together again. Our God will show himself faithful during this time. Praying that he blesses your time of worship tomorrow.

With Love, Your Pastor,
John
